  • In this month's Photography Online we take a serious look at depth of field (grab your pen and paper), do some wildlife photography with otters, show you how to clean your camera's sensor, take the Fuji GX617 for a walk along the beach, and we try an alternative way to take aerial photos without a drone (emphasis on the word "try"!). We also continue our countdown of the top ten views on the Isle of Skye by visting Neist Point, and we have two amazing giveaways - a pair of top-spec binoculars from Kite Optics worth £260 and a sensor cleaning kit from Visible Dust worth over £250.
Photography Online caters for all levels of photographers, from beginners looking to learn the basics of photography to experienced camera users looking to advance their camera skills further. From digital to film, from landscape photography to wildlife and travel, we have top tips from our own professional photography team, as well as information on the best locations from which to take photos.

Listen! Count me as one of those subscribers who know the value of these videos. Every episode comes with top quality, rich in knowledge and information. Good enough to be a TV show on Netflix and the sort! I started with the June edition and I have gone back to start from January. I don't know what I'll do when I get to the last. God bless all of you making this free for all!

Give this a big thumbs up. What a brilliant on line photography channel this is you don’t have to be a pro or a geek to understand the features shown as always explained in easy terms and sometimes with a bit of humour added. The features are in bite size chunks enabling you to watch when you have spare 5 minutes, but I guarantee you will sit and watch from start to finish as I do and everything else will have to wait.

Excellent show with some great tips. Absolutely loved the "Controlled aerial photography" feature with the inclusion of some gorgeous giggles from the main launcher person. Cuteness overload! Now, what is this about? Three grown men sat at table number 12 drinking water and in Scotland of all places! Surely this is a crime against Scotland!

I can't answer for anyone else, but the best segment of the show, other than watching a camera and photographer not getting swept away by the surf (I was praying for them), was seeing the joy in the little lass as she ran with the kite! Bring her back soon! I love the show!

    Ep. 2
Ruth, I can't wait to see your garden being explored the way Neist point just happened to be. Especially that "High-slide peak", which is of the strangest green colours. Springtime induced perhaps ! 🤔
Main thing being animals can rest atop. 😉
We may get the chance to discover one of Nature's greatest mysteries and treasures : peat. How weird are those vegetals, able to grow infinitely, resulting in layers of up to dozens of meters in thickness ! Heat, gardening, birds nesting... you name it. Not forgetting a major role in Whiskies distillation.
    Nature's treasure... I told you. 😇

To all the team at P.O.L hq, my warmest regards from De_Photo_Bug here in lockdown Barbados, W.I....just a note to say how glad i am that I've stumbled across your video P.O.L.,I made sure to watch all six(6) issues...which includes meet the team, they have been very helpful, and as you no doubt would have seen, so much have I enjoyed them that I've actually subscribed to them now, I really hope that this covid-19 issue soon disappears..which I doubt but at least you've given many ideas that will last a while ..believe it or not at the start if this year I was looking forward to retirement...and by the time that I was going to be laid of and given early retirement (all smiles) the country was on lockdown ...can't leave home, can't shop as you like etc..etc well at least we do have p.o.l.videos to watch...love just finish watching the May issue..bang on again team...and Ruth your shed might just be the next top ten sight ..who knows..anyway thanks for the videos and all the information contained within..looking forward to to next one ...interestingly...I on loo y just decided to clean my d750 sensor earlier this week along with some lens maintenance...but I still appreciated the tips given...
Keep up the great work and keep shooting ,and leave nothing but footprints...Stay safe to all.

I liked Harry's advice about cleaning the front of lenses and his demonstration of wiping in a circular motion. I have a comment, however. I was once cleaning the front of my Nikon 70-200 and was wiping in a circular motion as always. I always wiped in a circular ANTI-CLOCKWISE direction as Harry was doing. This time the retaining ring for the front element of the lens came unscrewed and I had great difficulty getting the lens back together correctly. My advice now is wiping in a circular motion, but make sure that you wipe CLOCKWISE to prevent loosening the front element. I had never thought about or noticed that I had been loosening the front of my lens until it came off. Fortunately, I was working on a soft cloth and the lens element was not damaged when it came off.

I had a fantastic Otter encounter in the centre of my small town a few days back. A mum with two young feeding on eels and fish and even taking a pigeon into the water at one point. They have moved closer into town due to flood alleviation work and are regularly spotted by local dog walkers and cyclists. I managed to observe them up close for around four hours with one youngster coming in to the shallow water to within six feet of me and looking up my lens. Keep up the great work with the channel, the most enjoyable subscription I've found on RUclips to date. Well done everyone.
