This lady is a treasure! Truly appreciate her so much. She also reminds me that we are under judgement from God, make no mistake. Among other things, when God judges a nation He sends them wicked rulers and removes the fear of God from His prophets, by application, our pastors. He removes any semblance of testicular fortitude (yup I went there) from our male leaders and gives it to women to also judge us as men. God help us and have mercy. @@Cletus_the_Elder, the Bible talks about people like you, Cletus The Elder. Be careful or worse things will happen to you, Jesus said. Cletus, until you write your book defending your friends and colleagues, and sign your name to it, and let people criticize every word, you need to stop being a false witness for your friends’ agenda. Be filled with the Holy Spirit and KNOW the TRUTH. Basham did her arduous homework to write her book, and you easily sit back and let a woman take up the mantle in our Church Militant fight and then criticize her? You, my sir, are a coward! Real Christians are known by the fruit that the Holy Spirit is doing in and through them. If we can’t repent before men, it proves we NEVER repented to God who we can’t see.

Have been following this in Evangelicalism for 5 years now. It is an uphill battle because Christians don't have the fortitude to search it out in every corner of the church or speak up. The numerous times I have brought it up in Christian circles and church leaders they deny or deflect. It's sad.

While I am not familiar with this specific book nor it’s author, people do need to realize that Billy Graham was not the doctrinally sound, man of God that countless people (mainly in the older generation) make him out to be.
He was ecumenical to the extreme, yoked with numerous false teachers (including Pat Robertson, Oral Roberts, & the Pope), believed abortion should be permitted in some instances, and watered down the Gospel to simply “repeating the sinner’s prayer”. Graham was a false teacher, and hence not someone to be referenced for biblical exegesis.

I agree that Megan needs to humbly approach Gavin Ortland regarding the alleged slanders she makes by misquoting him and sharing out of context.
I live in Hong Kong China. I am more concerned that she spend more time critiquing and pointing out error from Michael Wear and Dallas Willard and spend her valuable time pointing out the insidious errors in Wear’s book, “The Spirit of Our Politics”; instead of going rabid in her attacks on Gavin.
I have followed Gavin online for 3 years here in Communist China and he is a sound biblical apologist and theologian of Church History. He has some views I don’t agree with completely but that does not make him an advocate of heterodoxy. On some of the others that she has exposed in her book; I heartily agree. Nevertheless, she needs to take the step to be reconciled with Gavin privately and later have a civil vigorous discussion of the issues involved and let the onlookers from the universal church decide for themselves in their particular conservative orthodox context. I am fervently praying for this to happen to the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ and for the sake of the integrity of the gospel and biblical truth transmitted here on these online podiums. ✝️❤️🔥

I grew up in a Southern Baptist Church (NW Baptist in Miami). My parents were founding members. Homer G. Lindsay, Jr. was my pastor. I was saved under his minsitry. My mother was his secretary for a time. I was very active in the youth minstry. I have been a missionary for over 50 years. I am doing what I do as a result of Bro. Lindsay's ministry and influence in my life. A number of the youth group also became pastors or missionaries. I have worked in Eastern Europe/Russia for 40 years. I have never voted for a Democrat and probably never will. I agree with most of what was said on this podcast. That is where I am coming from.
You mentioned at around 28:00 that one can't vote for a Democrat, no matter how good the person may be, because the Democratic platform is anti-God. So whom then does one vote for? How can I put a check next to Trump's name? He is anti-God also, (no matter what he says). And saying that, "Well, I'm not voting for him, I'm voting for the lesser of two evils, or I'm voting Republican because at least their platform is more this or that when it comes to the Bible" doesn't cut it either as an argument. I did that in the past, but no more. So what is the answer?

    • @patrickc3419
      @patrickc3419 4 месяца назад +18

Your question is a good one, and honestly one that I, as a Reformed Baptist who voted previously for Trump have struggled with.
Trump is not a Christian; there’s no reason to believe otherwise. He is pro homosexual, pro gambling, is an adulterer, has softened his stance on abortion, has been thrice married, and had Paula White for his “spiritual advisor”. I’ve grown some too, in my sanctification, and I don’t presume that my response is akin to scripture.
There is no conceivable reason why or how a born again follower of Christ can vote Democratic. There is literally nothing in the party platform which is not antiGod, antiBiblical, antiFamily, antiFreedom. So I am not a Republican. I am a registered Conservative. I don’t watch FoxNews, I don’t listen to talk radio, and I find it very disturbing how countless supporters of Trump act as if he is the second coming of Christ. (The whole “Brandon” garbage, saying that he was the greatest president in history, etc.)
The main difference between Trump and the Democrats is that Trump does not have an activist agenda. He does not want to fundamentally transform and rid society of any shred of morality. He was great for the economy. He appointed solid federal court justices. As a federal court worker, I witness firsthand the absurdly over expansion of government, which eventually the Left wants to use as a means to control literally everything and anything. Biblically speaking, government’s role is to collect a FAIR share of taxes, punish evildoers (including capital punishment), protect its citizens, have a military, and honestly very little else.
You have to ask yourself before Election Day, who will support and defend the biblical worldview best.
      Hope that helps.

I understand. But read Genesis 12:3 and ask yourself this question. Who moved the American embassy to Jerusalem in spite of so many presidents who strongly implied that they would but didn’t? Who has been solidly pro Israel? And who is the most pro life of the candidates running? You’re right. He’s not a christian. But Biden turning his back on Israel was the ultimate deal breaker for me. Whatever his views actually are he governed as a pro life and pro religious liberty president for four years. I’ll take four more.

@@patrickc3419 Thank you for your reply. I agree with everything you said. My comment was more of a statement on the sad (and dangerous) state of our political affairs. When the choice between who will lead (?) our country is between Biden and Trump, we are in trouble. Unfortunately, Congress isn't much better. I am tired of holding my nose when I vote. They were well on.the way to deception. They obviously did not look to see wjat pleases God and what does not!
Modern bibles lie, change who God is and continually challenge God and His word by asking,
Did God say? Come on, really?
God said He preserved His word. Psalm 12:6-7. Most modern bibles do not. In other words they are not admitting that God has a standard, His inspired word. His word is quick (alive) and quickens (gives life). His word is eternal.
Most of the modern bibles have at least one out and out lie. NKJB calls Jesus God's servant. The KJB calls him God's Son. [See: What is wrong with the NKJB]
Others quote Jesus telling his brothers, i am not going to the feast. John 7:8. (Is he saying he is going to break the law of Moses?) He waits and then goes. Liar! BLASPHEMY .
Jesus simply said, not going now, not yet. He waits and then goes. No problem, no lie.
Did God say Mark 11:26? Absolutely.
"But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." It is an essential part of our walk with God. A verse that makes us tremble was added?????
Did God say? Acts 15:34? "Not- withstanding, it pleased Silas to abide there still. This shows God's divine providence. Silas was there when Paul needed him for a journey. Obviously Silas remained there.
BRAZENLY, they change or remove a word that gives the believers true power! Matthew 12:31 and Mark 9:29! Some spiritual warfare needs prayer and fasting!
Did God say eleven (11) times in the New Testament the word damnation, eternal burning? Yes. But not in theirs! Did God say?
Did God give three witnesses to that truth? Mark 9:44, 46, 48. They however only have v48. The other two they ask, Did God say? This is important because we need to know the truth and those who preach Annialism, we cease to exist, are easily proven wrong with these verses.
Jesus is God. Yet Jesus is man. Hebrews supports this with four verses, 3:3, 7:24, 8:3 and 10:12: "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sin for ever, sat down at rhe right hand of God; Hebrews 10:12. They do not use the clarifying words 'this man' at all. Again, Did God say?
Every change they make is an insult to God and His word. God said He would curse those who add to or take from His word. Revelation 22:18-19.
In the Old Testament those who honored a false prophet received the reward of that prophet. So the Alexandrian translators, the bible societies the publishers, the promoters, sellers and those who teach from them (showing those ear tickling bibles as God's word) or honor them will be held responsible. If done ignorantly, repent. God will not be mocked.
This happened when the inspired Antioch manuscripts called the Textus Receptus were replaced by the Alexandrian manuscripts called the Codex B or the Vaticanus from the Vatican basement, and the Sianiticus from a monestary. They do not agree with each other and the latter has about 30 changes per page. Obviously inspired by their spiritual father who brings conflict, frustration, despair and DOUBT.

I have also chosen to comment here because I think the treatment of Gavin Ortlund in the book was unfair and out of context.
To be fair to Megan, there is some rhetoric used by the left that, as Christians, we might want to avoid and a very fine line that we must be careful not to cross. I know that Gavin has always been an advocate of research and study. That 'perseverance' has enabled him to, very successfully, expose many of the questionable accretions of the Catholic and, to a lesser degree, the Orthodox church. It is in this spirit that I believe Gavin encourages Christians not to be averse to research and evidence.
At the same time, what he said in the video in question, if not understood in its full context, can come across as being far too close to leftist catch phrases. Gavin needs to be sensitive to that.
What all Christians need to be aware of is that the 'Daily Wire' is conservatism with Christian overtones. Primarily, it is a secular organization that supports partisanship more than Christianity.
Megan said so much herself in this interview, that she has felt more free to write this book in the manner that she did. This is revealing because her book focuses far more on division and criticism than on unity in religious truth, which is not her current priority. Her current priority is to discourage Christians from even considering any political issue from all angles.
I'm not sure how immigration and environmental concerns are clear cut Biblical issues but, somehow, the Daily Wire wants you to believe that they are. Let's think about that - if we aren't too afraid to.

@ruthdella37 I think you probably haven't seen a number of other posts I have made. Megan probably correctly captured the SPIRIT of what Gavin said. And, by her own admission, she has stated that she wasn't calling out Gavin anywhere near as much as she was other Christian influencers.
That said, the way she handled the DETAILS of exactly what Gavin said was reckless and sloppy. Some of what Gavin said in his original video bothered me quite a bit, but if you listened really closely, he really did try to approach the problem from a Christian stewardship position - which is something I support.
I really think they were both a little reckless with how their messages came across. Honestly, I don't think it is beneficial to the faith for us to get hung up on who apologizes first. I would just like to see that happen.
Does that seem to be an unChristian perspective?
BTW, if you had read my book, you would know that I associate agenda-drivenness with those without true faith and Christ-centeredness as those with it. To be excessively against climate change or even adamantly against those who want you to take it into consideration, is the mark of someone who appears to have unhealthy priorities.

So glad this will be published soon. It both enrages me and saddens my heart toward the Church. I look forward to reading more.

    🎯💯.
Russell Moore, David French, Rob Bell, Phil Vischer, Andy Stanley, Brian McLaren, Thabiti Anyabwile, and yes, Tim Keller, need to be called out by name for the unbiblical, false teachers that they are.
They need grace, and need Christ. In the meantime, mark and avoid.

Tim Keller started strong. A lot of his sermons really impacted my life. But just like Peter hanging around with the circumcision party, he allowed his friendships with worldly wolves to sway him.

      For sure.
He had such an awesome opportunity, living in a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah known as New York City, to influence it with the glorious message of the Gospel, and yet tragically he let the reverse happen: New York City influenced him.

‘The Reason for God’ is solid! But if you sit in a barber chair long enough, you’re gonna get a haircut! Keller got clipped!

Tim Keller's church was filled with card carrying leftists enslaved to the cult of Molech and he did nothing to call them out of it. Meanwhile, the rest of us who know how wicked the Democrat Party is had to listen to his insufferable double talk and subtle condescending lectures about open mindedness and that the Dem platform was a valid moral choice for true Christians. Tim Keller was a fraud.

I canceled my subscription to WORLD magazine after 18 years when the leftward drift began…first the ‘Never Trump’ stance, then the adulation of David French and his ilk…broke my heart really…I loved that magazine for nearly two decades

Christianity Today is another useless magazine that has discredited itself.
Stick with Banner of Truth, Expositor, Table Talk, & Answers!

@@andrewbrowne5557 I wonder if it's gotten back to where it needs to be since they threw out the ring leader of the Never Trumpism, Marvin Olasky (who sadly used to be good as best I could determine)

I hope Megan doesn't have a case of what Tom in this video calls metanoiaphobia (beginning at 36:36). She blew it; she's misrepresented Gavin (demonstrably so). Like all of us, she's a sinner. She makes mistakes. We don't expect perfection. But we do expect her to own up to it and apologize.
Furthermore, I agree with Megan's positions on the political issues she's addressing. But I know she has misrepresented Gavin. How can I trust that she's fairly represented the others she's calling sell outs?
