  • In North Carolina’s Albemarle Peninsula, the last population of endangered red wolves - which total fewer than two dozen - roam freely in the wild. Despite the wolves’ ever elusive nature, some researchers have made it their mission to protect the precious species.
Dr. Eleanor Spicer Rice, an entomologist and author of 10 books - each one about science and the natural world, views North Carolina through the lens of landscape, providing awe-inspiring explanations of our state’s creatures and creations while spotlighting the natural beauty along the way. In this episode, she explores wild ice and its cacophonous crack as it melts and breaks across our landscapes.
