G'day Justin, I just wanted tot say how much your singing helps me with learning and following songs as most guitar teachers don't sing with the progression. It really does make a huge difference!
Thank you so much. Have you considered supporting Justin and his mission of ‘teaching the world to play’? If you are able, every donation enables him to make more lessons and content free to all. www.justinguitar.com/donate 😊 | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Approved Teacher
my grandpa trevor died two years ago last week. he was a bassist in highschool for a band called the sunshine band, a band van morrison sang in back in highschool. he left the band that shortly after went on to become known as "Van Morrison and Them" to settle down and get a job. but Van Morrison was always one of his favorites. He always kicked himself in the ass for not staying with that band. This song has always ment alot to my family i really apreciat the lesson Justin.
The guitar is only easy when you can play, this song is easy for guitar players but very hard for all beginners, even promising ones who have natural Talent. Justin is an excellent and very brave guitar tutor, I wish I had his pluck to put all my lessons online!
Dude, I gotta say thank you for this video. I just picked up a guitar for the first time in my life about a year ago, now that being said i don't have a hell of a lot of time on my hands these days to practice, but I'm absolutely amazed by all of the tutorials on this here RUclips. Again, a big thanks to you for this video, because I've always been a Big Van Morrison fan and this song is just one that i have to know. The way you lay out the video is extremely helpful, and i think I've watched it about a dozen times and broken everything down the way you did, and i'm getting the hang of it (sadly my fingers are not yet fast enough for the riff in the intro of the song), Again, thank you very much!!!
I'm recovering from two strokes and eight ministrokes since May plus problems from MS. I am having to relearn to play. I have followed you for a long time and now your lessons are helping me do something I love again. You are an excellent teacher with a great voice. You'll never know how much I appreciate it.
You're the best Justin. I'm an over 60 guy, just starting to play, and your lessons are easy to understand and follow. I love this catchy Van Morrison song.
Thank you so much for your lessons! They always make me smile! I’ve started recently playing the guitar again after a break of almost 25 years, and with your lessons it’s so much fun!!
I completely agree with your critique of Justin Sandercoe's teaching method. He's the BEST!!! I am just learning guitar at age 68 and I purchased his course. This should get me up to speed faster than any other instruction videos I have seen. I wish you good luck using the guitar as therapy for your recent medical problems.
Not only are these lessons very helpful and easy for beginners, but they crack me up. When he does the brown eyed g chord and g'ing and a d'ing I crack up. You rock Justin!!
I HAD MY GUITAR FOR BOUT THREE WEEKS and this song gets me attention ive even been called a musician already thanks Justin. another nice challenge is martys more than words lesson
I have been watching your lessons for several years and your own improvement in teaching methods is astounding. Its highly polished, easy to understand, and clearly a lot of work has gone into the production. I personally think your clips are the best guitar tutorials on RUclips.
Justin your my teacher for playing guitar. Started with Angie by rolling Stones because my name in ANGIE. Past the frustrating 40+ hours and painful fingertips. I love the way you teach and show strumming along with the chord changes. Thank you!
Thanks for the very careful rundown of how to play that intro riff. I had it most of the way, but you took it the rest of the way. My favorite RUclips teacher!
Justin this is awesome, I truly appreciate your lessons, you are good and patient teacher. I am having so much fun playing those simple songs, I am 61 and thrilled that I discovered you here! THANK YOU from Florida USA !!
Thank you Justin, Iam 59 Yrs. old and just stared playing Guitar ans i think you are A very cool person and a great teacher.. but i have bad Artritus in my whole body and in my fingers ... but i always wanted to play, so i made up my mind and you are the right guy .. almost got it but my fringers are not strong enough to press on the strings.. but im not going to give up and you are a very good treacher and person .. God Bless you. i will play this song. your friend Ron... keep up the good work
Hi Justin , Les from Australia here , am looking forward to getting your DVD for some of your great teaching & i really appreciate the way you give your time & talent to us , & i love your country man , got a really good mate here , who's from Derbyshire & he can play guitar & sing so well , what is it with you poms !! hope you dont mind the Aussie slang Justin , but really there has been some great Muso's from the Queens country , Clapton is one of my blues hero's & i was around when the beatles came over here , my sisters were never the same after that lol !! & Justin you do your country proud mate , the way you play & give so much to us aspiring guitar players , i been playing blues harp for ages & am becoming re familiarized with the guitar & you are a big help so thanks mate
I sometimes I wonder why there are so many people that give Justin or a lot of good guitar teachers thumbs down. I’m playing for thirty years and still learning. Love van Morrison music. I learned the hard way,no teacher way. Now to all those negative people, Justin doesn’t ask you a single cent for what he posts here so how come you give him a thumbs down. Bloody hell he’s an Ozzie, me ex South African now an Ozzie (and very proud) and he is playing a Maton. People get a psychiatrist to get your brain switch to positive. Justin I love the way you teach and that crazy Marty. To be honest I’m cooking inside so here is the Oz way, F them mate, no worries and keep doing the good stuff (sorry for the F word), cheers Alfie
INSPIRED is how you make me feel, Justin. I'd given up guitar years ago until I looked up the guitar chords for What's Up and happened upon your video. My son just asked me to play Brown-Eyed Girl for him and I was happy to see that you have this video! Thank you for making a difference in my life in a huge and positive way! ~ Jinky S.
Can' wait to get back home and try this. Which means I go to a guitar store first and try it there. Bought the book a week or so ago. Can't wait to get it. Thanks for all your hard work Justin.
I learn something every time I watch. You teach really well with a really good attitude. Cheery? Anyhow ....the guitar world needs more generals like you!!!
Hi Justin, I am from West Africa. I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it! The opening melody is reminiscent of the triads that are common in many African songs. l play the guitar and with your unique way of teaching, I am pleased to inform you that I can not only play the opening riff but mastered the up-and-down stokes of the chords. Thank you my friend and good luck.
Thank you so much for posting this! I was having trouble singing along with my playing and the way you broke this song down helped me over that. Keep up the good work my friend!
Man what a trip. I just looked at your thumb strumming video and then came to this one not even realizing it was the same channel and It was like going back in time. What a trip. Same hat though. Thanks for providing us with so much free content over the years!
Ariana - I've been playing (at least attempting) guitar since July 2014. It's been 6 months now and this song is actually pretty easy. Now I say easy which means I can play it at a get together and everyone enjoys it. But it still doesn't sound as good as the man (JustinGuitar). My point is I couldn't get the chord changing down as quick enough until about 3 weeks ago. I tried this song when I first started and it was VERY difficult but I know you hear and see this "30 minutes a day a thing" all the time but it really will start coming to you if you put that time in. And once you get these chord changes smoothly it is AWESOME all the songs that you can begin to play. The strumming will come natural once you get the chord transitions down.
Oh by the way, Justin thank you so much !!! You and Marty are awesome teachers and I really enjoy watching you because you sing along which helps TREMENDOUSLY !!!!!! Thanks again
Love the video, thank you! I am a complete beginner (about 4 days in) and find this pretty easy to follow (even if my chord switches are painfully slow). Now if only I could find a way to build calluses much faster I'd be in heaven =P
These kind of songs are referred to as Ego tunes....songs you can learn real fast and have something to play for friends while you're working on the difficult tunes...I should have learned more songs like this when I was starting out...I recommend building up a repertoire like this to all you beginner and intermediate players...it keeps playing fun...and we're all spoiled now with the internet and all these guys such as Justin who contribute immeasurably to the guitar community ;) Thank Justin!!!
I wish more people would sing the song well while teaching the song. Just look at the smile on Justin's face. Makes you wanna play at the camp-fire don't it? Oh wait ... that's exactly what I'll be doing next weekend!
This has helped me so much especially with remembering some chords and getting a consistent strumming pattern. Thanks a lot I shall be watching more of your awesome vids, they are so helpful! :'D
