Newer painter here, going on 4 months of being deeply in love with the painting side of the hobby. My biggest sources of motivation and joy has been discovering new techniques and the ways they can seemingly grow my painting overnight. Of course none of that would be possibly without wonderful folks like yourself sharing and demonstrating those techniques and breaking down the learning process behind them. This month I painted my first bust and did it as a gift for my best friend. He loves his new Thrall display bust and I'm still shocked with how well it turned out. So thank you Sam for sharing your skills with us. Your perspective on painting has helped me so much and continues to bring me joy and motivation when I hit those inevitable moments of frustration and failure.
two things to note 1) that would make a great Necron Nightbringer alternative, and 2) Deathflesh would be a sweet band name. Thanks for all your hard work mate, been a gold mine finding your work on RUclips. Haven't really tried wet blending before, but after watching your stuff I'm going to have to give it a go. Seems like a quick way to get a good idea of placement of colours, gradients etc.
I used to paint single miniatures and dioramas, but went to 28mm armies to help my son. This has inspired me to go back to premium sculpts again. I love liquitex inks so a lot of your technique suits my methods. Keep the unreal looking real cheers.
I love The Cube of Learning way more than is reasonable. It's really helpful for me and I'm sure many others. Thanks for using it! The model looks brilliant already.
Hands down the best undead skin video i've ever seen. Thank you for posting and also for keeping at the videos. We appreciate the extra work you put into them :)
Great work as always. I have to admit, I particularly enjoyed how you got such good results with so few colours on your palette. I know there are a million different ways to paint flesh and you'll undoubtedly tweak and tune as you work through the rest of the project, but you made this look really easy.
Your work never fails to inspire me to keep improving, and trying new things, Sam! The sculpt is amazing, but your art really blings...ahem brings it to a new level ;)
Damn ! Love your painting, I can really feel that dead old skin. And your approach to painting is f***ing inspirational, it makes me want to go further and try stuffs ! Huge thanks man !
Hi Sam, I love these high quality models you show like these creature caster ones, but a vast majority of them are very expensive at this level of quality and attention to detail. Do you have any favorite sources or companies that make more affordable sculpts? Maybe a particular creator for 3d printable minis at this bar of quality? Thanks!
How do you not have to rinse your brush? Also, the paint on the palette doesn’t look thinned. I know it’s on a wet palette but maybe my layers are TOO thin. Trying to figure that out. My paint seems to dry too fast. Maybe my layers are too thin.

Wisdom from the great painting wizard
Speaking as someone who has had necrotizing fasciitis, I wish to congratulate you on your realistic portrayal of stinking, rotting, perished, dermis.
Really appreciate all these videos, thanks a lot!
A Mayhem Deathcrush top AND a undead flesh tutorial, You're too good to us Sam.
*Goes off to join your patreon*
It always amazes me how little paint Sam puts on his brush

Would you use this necrotic flesh style for vampires, or would you go for something a bit different?
Every piece is a chance to try something new but yes, this would be a good way to get it done :)
Hi Sam, i see in some of your Vids you use a larger brush for base coating? Do you use a specific brand and size? Thanks
Check the crawlspace for bodies
does he use oil or acrylic paint?
