Excellent tutorial! My replacement was for the front passenger door, so I didn’t disconnect any wires. I did however have difficulty removing the door lock cable. My original handle was cracked/ broken already, so I just broke it all the way to get the cable out. Just something to consider if your handle is already trashed. Thanks for the detailed video.
I just replaced mine in 5 minutes. I DID NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE DOOR PANEL! Popped the black panel from behind the chrome lever, removed 8mm bolt. Pulled handle assembly out of door. I used needle nose pliers to squeeze blue locking collar and then removed cable being very careful that cable does not slide back inside the door. Installed cable end in new mechanism, seated it in the opening, replaced 8MM bolt and carefully tightened bolt. Evidently the captive nut on the back side of the inner panel can come off, one viewer had that happen and in one video the nut came off, this may be why they remove the entire door panel but I was successful without having to do it.
I was going to do the same thing but was worried about losing the cable in the door and would have to do it anyways lol it took about 15 minutes to replace mine. Mines a 2014 so the connections on door switch are a little different but no worries. That 90 degree pick is definitely good to have instead of using a flathead
Excellent video tutorial. Mine was a 2014 so connections are a little different for lock and window switch but nothing major. Took about 15 minutes!! You gained a subscriber from this.
I watched this to see how many clips I'd be fighting against to see if I wanted to do it myself or let the dealer do it. When I saw it was 0 for removing the main panel, I ordered picks and a pair of handles in case mine have faded in a 10+ year old truck and don't match the replacement. Thanks for the vid and the free shipping! The spring is fine in mine. The plastic under the chrome snapped in half and now only the chrome is holding it together.
Really great video. Hardest part for me was getting the door panel over the lock and seated properly. You saved me a few hundred dollars I’m sure! Thank you!
Very fast and right on point directions how to change your door handle highly recommended thank you for sharing your experience it took me literally 15 minutes

I used needle nose on the blue plastic part on cable alot easier that way then trying to get door lock thru panel impossible so I took the ring out of the panel that door lock goes thru so much easier to put panel back in place then put ring back on over the lock now on to passenger side great video thankyou
Thanks for this video! Saved me a few hundred dollars in labor costs. Knocked it out in just a few minutes! NOTE: Check the spring on the new handle and grease it up if it needs some. I didn't and it was squeaky after I installed it (WD-40 fixed that though). Excellent tutorial!
Had both doors done in less than 45 minutes. Thank you for this video. I however did not disconnect any wiring since I am tall enough to reach over the panel without removing it completely. Again you made this simple.
Yeah, one of my thoughts when watching this was "couldn't you just unbolt the top parts of the door and let it flex outward so you can reach the door handle?" I don't know what it is, but mechanics always seem to want to disassemble 2-3x as much as they actually need to. Not worth risking damage to electrical connectors or other plastic parts, don't take it apart more than you have to. Worst case, grab a friend for like 10 minutes and have him hold the door trim so it doesn't come out too far and break.
Followed your video step by step and replaced my broken door handle in less than 30 minutes. Thank you. One question: The old spring had a heavy coat of grease. The new one had none. Do you recommend adding grease to the spring?
What does the bolt screw into that is behind the pull handle? There doesn't appear to be anything back there to stabilize it. Had a bit of trouble getting the bolt/screw out of the old one, but the new one just seems to go into space...any ideas?
I could not get the mirror control connector off so I managed to do it without removing any of the connectors. Just hung it on the notches and could get to everything. It was way easier than removing all the window and door connectors. Only hard part is getting the door lock button back in its place.
When you are removing the cable from the old broken door handle, you can save yourself some time by just using some wire cutters to cut/break the plastic holding the cable in place. It's a lot faster than trying to get those 2 tabs pushed in to release it! Also if your door has a sleeved grommet where the door lock knob passes through, that easily comes out by turning and pulling up at the same time. It makes it much easier to align that door lock knob through the hole on the door panel. After the door panel is back on, you can easily align/put that sleeved grommet back in the door hole.

+Kenneth Harrington Thanks for checking us out! Yes, the rear doors should have the same or similar process. Please let us know if you have any further questions, thank you.
Just replaced mine without door panel removal. Pop out the small black cover and remove just the 8mm bolt. Pop out the handle and replace. Plenty of room to remove the cable that way. 3 minutes complete
+Dub_G_36 We do not have a video specifically for the passenger side, but the install should be the same or similar. Buy this part on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I received the door handle replacement and installation was straight forward when I followed this video. There is one little piece that does not fit quite right, though, and that is the little plastic cover that goes behind the door handle. It does not snap in place as it did with the old door handle. It goes in loosely, and pulling the door closed causes this piece to fall out. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Did you ever figure this out? Just took my panels off today to replace some speakers. Went to put one of the panels back on and the threads for the bolt behind the door handle were just gone. Other side looks like the threads clip in, but I couldn’t find it anywhere in the door.
The only thing I don't like is that the cover for the door handle does not fit. The door handle I got is a bit big. Other then that it's a 15 minute installation. And the handle works great. I'd give it a 9 out of 10
Don't pull out the door bolt cover the way he says to. If you pull the handle out like you would if you where opening the door you can easily get the pick behind the plastic cover from where the door handle hinges and pull it out without the chance of leaving any marks.
Why is it an F250 mirror in the beginning but Midway through the video it magically turns into an F150 stock mirror but as the video ends it’s back to the F250 mirror?

What do I do if the screw next to the handle won’t go back in
Prefect tutorial. I followed this for my passenger door and was able to complete the repair in about 30 minutes
Thanks for the vid. I was able change my driver's door handle on my 13' f-150 in less than 12 min with this video's assistance. Thanks again!
This video saved me time finding the somewhat hidden fasteners and made the interior handle replacement go much faster. Thank you!

Thank you so much! Really great instructive video. Helped me out tremendously!
Great step-by-step tutorial and an easy replacement. Might consider greasing the spring and handle interior to prevent squeaking

Thanks for a great video, I feel confident I can tackle this my self, but I will invest in one of those pokey things to remove plates.
Followed your video step by step and replaced my broken door handle in less than 30 minutes. Thank you. One question: The old spring had a heavy coat of grease. The new one had none. Do you recommend adding grease to the spring?

Are the replacement parts plastic just like the stock handles? If so are metal handles offered as the plastic handles feel cheap.

Sweet easier than I expected. What would this cost to have a mechanic do it??

Same Problem did you ever find a solution?
Nice! I have a passenger door handle I need to replace on a 2014.
What if there’s nothing to attached the bolt through the handle? Like a missing clip on the door the bolt secures to

Maybe a dumb question but what are the white plastic cup things on the inside of the door panel?

You don't have to remove the fuse for the interior lights. They will time out.
Thank you should take the 15 minute job right at 2 hours as is my usual repair time!
The bolt won’t screw back into the handle
That's cute but I changed mine without taking the whole panel off. Just the handle only. Took me like 10 minutes.
+gdmartinez74 Thanks for the feedback!
🙏
Why this long way? After opening the screws, I took out the door handle and changed it in five minutes without disconnecting any cable😂
Why is it an F250 mirror in the beginning but Midway through the video it magically turns into an F150 stock mirror but as the video ends it’s back to the F250 mirror?
That's funny that you noticed that. But those power extending mirrors ARE an option on that year of truck.
Thanks!
