6:30 - I don't get it, is he having them sing one note, or asking them to sing multiple notes and assuming a random distribution of them will choose each of the various notes he suggested
He sings it first and people copy. In the multitude of voices it just comes together ... People that go his concerts are generally music lovers. There is music in everyone and you tend to tune yourself to meet and attune yourself to those around you. The recording from the podium has the fully mixed sound. Just magical.
@@yanikjayaram I would not be surprised if he did. He actually did post himself saying that he had tried it and then about 3 yrs go in Rome 'suddenly' nailed it. This pianist explains pretty well why particularly nowadays it would not be easy to fail. There was even a concert where the crowd spontaneously started a choir. You only need a small group of people to start and a willing crowd to join in. Enjoy this explanation : ruclips.net/video/4c6OiJI-jKg/видео.html

I was probably the least musically educated person at last years Cologne gig... learned the violin for 4 years over 30 years ago but am musically illiterate now. The only way I can describe it is that I ... knew what notes to sing. Surrounded by the harmony... absolutely amazing
I completely agree. He's obviously a supremely talented musician technically. The problem with this? He forgets the artistry of this song. It's simple. And he spends almost 7 minutes making it unnecessarily complex with flourishes and other departures. You take something that's beauty IS its simplicity and you wipe that away. What are you left with? Some random poorly sung mediocre jazz tune with a cool audience participation sequence at the end. For whatever reason I've fallen down the "And So It Goes" RUclips rabbit hole this evening. Never knew there were this many versions of this song. Want to hear an interesting one? Look up the Virginia Women's Choir version. Beautiful.
@@somewhat.random If I'm being really picky, I think the Singapore's show had the least enjoyable rendition of this interaction. I'm sure it sounded great from Jacob's perspective but from the audience, if you had your ear set on one clueless individual then it was egregiously difficult to listen to. When he did this in the 'States or Europe it was leagues ahead of this performance. Again, maybe I'm being harsh on concert-goers but I feel like these folks don't have a very musical ear.
Intros, improvs, riffs not really creating a melody but a tinkling-playing rambling. Even with his musical background, education and lineage, he's still not getting his music all together. Also, he should pay the audience instead.
“So what instrument do you play?”
“Oh I play the audience.”
Jacob is music in human form.
His humming though 😂
It got me crying laughing 😂😂😂😂
LMAOOOO we love the humming though 😭😂 he was having a great time
@@the_LucidDream_ 🤣
Hahaha 🤣
Came here to say just that... hahahaha
A wizard. A mind free of restraints, veils. His birthday should be celebrated everywhere. August 2. Long live, Jacob! May you stay forever young!
May God bless these people who participated in that holy and amazing night🥰
A new wizard of this current generation and probably the next 60 years. 🙏
Can't get enough of this. So beautiful. I'm crying 😭
man, what he did at 13:30 was breathtaking. It was subtle but he pulled the whole crowd back into balance
I feel like this is heavenly

My pleasure! I just sat there just speechless
I had tears in my eyes, so beautiful!!
It sounds like angels. Love it.
Camera man voice wins my heart
It so demonstrates that a crowd, led like this, isn't held back by individual variation in skill. Amazing!
@@basstwoYT wanna try that
Yeah but he's badly out of tune. 😂
Beautiful. I hope Billy has heard this. He'd like it.
This one was the highlight for me this show

I'm having troubles using the equalizers when I'm listening to my mp3's and this guy is hacking the matrix to synchronize human vocals...

I don't know if this is a setup but it's beautiful

Jacob always does this at his concerts, and the audience is mostly musicians, many of them probably sing in choirs, so they are experienced :)

@@pverst2008 @Dabaka93 what happens when it doesn't go well. Does he just apologize and say "sorry, I thought y'all were musical"?

How the hell did he get them to know what note to sing!?!
It’s an entire audience full of musicians! They better know their scales!
Musical intuition. If you played any musical instrument even only on a mediocre level it is very obvious which note to sing.
Jacob's audience is mostly musicians :)

What crazy is that I tried humming along, and it works

I love the sound of the guy that can't sing properly it makes it sound a lot like Aphex Twin's " Rhubarb Orc. 19.53 Rev "
how do you guys know which note to sing??

Who was squealing at 12:35? Lol
Bro you should keep quiet in that kind of moments for everyone please ! ;D
Man, you're out of tune, BUT I believe you provided some undertones. 👍
🤣
That was awe inspiring. It somehow restores some faith in humanity, albeit an iota of it. ❤️😂
Did he really teach the whole audience solfege, or are they musicians? I'm hearing Rachmaninoff Vespers here
Dude humming had me laughing

Everything was going so well UNTIL the guy recording had no idea what he was doing!smh🤦🏻♂️
What is this witchcraft!? Jk
He seems cool, the idea is cool.....but the music is horrible and how can anyone pretend differently?
