As a habs fan as well, I’m terrified. I was very high on Shane Wright and still am even after slaf went one I still think right is the best player in the draft, is he better for the Canadians tho idk. But we’re putting a lot of faith in slaf here as well as Kirby dach, I think the justification for not taking Wright will be very dependent on if dach turns into a good second line center behind nick Suzuki because if he does not and Shane Wright ends up being an elite number one center in Seattle which I think he will this could have been a mistake but only time will tell
For like the last two years, Wright has always said the right thing, which probably was a result of being coached by his agent. Maybe some questions in interviews were ones he wasn't prepared for and he was forced to improvise and scouts didn't like what they heard. His reaction to him sliding in the draft seems like a similar thing, he wasn't prepared for it and reacted poorly.
@@nofear8673 I'm not saying it's wrong to show emotions. We have no idea what questions he was asked during interviews and what his answers were, and we don't need to know, but it could explain him sliding to 4. Maybe he showed emotions during scouting interviews that teams simply didn't like. I'm not shitting on the guy for the way he reacted because it must an unbelievable rush of emotions seeing what you've been expecting for years just slowly drift away. I don't have a problem with him showing emotions but I don't matter, maybe NHL GMs had a problem with it and their opinions can change a lot of things for Wright.
If both Slav and Wright are becoming good everybody are going to be happy. I was convinced that the Habs would pick Wright. After the initial schock I feel pretty comfortable with Slav becoming a Montreal player.
He’s just a spoiled kid, got whatever he wanted from mommy and daddy. I wanted him and I was chapped that we didn’t draft him but I’ve definitely change my tune. With that attitude the fans woulda eaten him alive in Montreal.
He’s going to have a proving those teams wrong problem real soon. As a Kraken Fan I’m going to eat my popcorn and watch him tear it up. Rare two way player.
When Wright is in his mid-20s he'll look back on this and see his immaturity. I wouldn't normally root against a Canadian, but I hope Slafkovsky ends up being the better player.
@@agauci2010 😂🤣😂 damn Shane wright must of said some terrible things to you! Most NHL’ers are like wright and have a chip on their shoulder. Look at Connor McDavid, Leon Draistl, Patrick Kane, Brad Marchand, nakita Kucherov all the same type of attitude. Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant all gamers who remember who passed on them and used it as motivation.
Won't happen. Not in a million years, slafkosvky is not NHL ready, Shane has been since 16. Shane's shot and hockey IQ is very high, his stats being elite since ,12 years old prove it. Slafkovsky has done nothing elite in any of his career. But what ever makes you sleep at night, keep working harder at convincing your self 👏👏
Did you see him and his Dad? His dad says it's not where you go it's what you do. Shane says where you go too, then his dad says it's where you go and what you do. So he dominates his dad. Probably since he's a kid he's been like that. Entitled
It astounds me how some people confuse competitiveness for downright nasty behaviour, that has nothing to do with competitiveness, its downright nasty for a future possible sport star to be liking badmouthing posts about the 1st overall pick just because he is sour when like a day ago he was shaking his hand for it. Thats legit downright disgusting, nasty, pretentious behaviour not competitive.
Yes. That while Slafkovsky agreed with his flaws, and on those he disagreed on, he respecfuly argued why he disagreed, and he justified his play properly.
He's COMPETITIVE and he knows his worth. It takes balls to do what he did and shows strength of character. He took it personally and it will motivate him ! He's gonna rip it lol will be very interesting to watch the first face off versus Montreal 😁
@@jakecarroll3229 No, i dont think that his is normal ANYWHERE this attitude he is showing publically and shamelessly, there were reports of his past teammates that they didnt enjoy hanging out with him due to how arrogant and egoistic he was and that was his past teammates talking about him and if even your own teammates dont like you theres a big problem, clearly he has an attitude problem and its more than just some healthy competitiveness.
@@auri5459 and are you sure what are their motives to say that? What if he didn't like to drink? Drinking with guys makes him a good teammate. Look what it got McDavid lthis summer lol.
NJD didn't need another center and ARZ was locked in on Cooley, not sure they even interviewed Wright which then makes it harder to deviate from your draft plan. Just look at CHI who went with Korchinski at nr 7 way to early but they had their sight on him and took him. My 2 cents on the matter.
Devils didn't need a center so they went with a defenseman after the Habs took the top winger, Arizona was likely locked in on Cooley for months and they knew he was a fan of their team and has family in Arizona which made it easier for them to pass on Wright. Only Habs seem to be looking for reasons to have passed on Wright. There were no McDavids or Crosbys in this draft and players were rated all over the place by everyone so a lot of teams drafted for needs instead of best player available.
You're right! Kotkaniemi definitely had the better character... oh, wait! Btw.: learn to spell the freakin name right, before posting! It's not that hard. "Zedina"? Ffs.!
Big difference, Zadina is NOT Shane Wright! I still think Zadina can be great in this league but even if Zadina reach his true potential he nowhere near what Shane Wright can be if he reaches true potential.
Yeah i know right? Slaf was the best looking guy there and im speaking that from the female perspective, not sure where did Isaac Howard got the idea that he is the best looking there XD but if it was an attempt to be funny he did a great job XD
Funny how some Habs fans before the draft were arguing about how the media/scouts were trying to screw Montreal out of the best player (Wright) by some having Slafkovsky at #1 and how Slafkovsky was overrated because of a couple of tournaments, small sample size and low numbers in the Finnish league. I defended Slafkovsky as the #1 against those Habs fans even though i thought either could go number 1 overall. Now those same fans are probably worshiping Slafkovsky as a great pick and finding excuses to slam Wright because the Habs passed on him. Slafkovsky is a good pick and be happy about that but there is no need to witch hunt Wright and put him down because your team passed on him. Wright is still an excellent prospect with a bright future ahead of him. I'm a Wings fan by the way so i have no dog in this fight.
Wright was the one insulting the HABS. His bad stare, him saying Slafkovsky was the worse pick since ... and then saying the Krakken will éliminate the HABS kn playoffs (which likely won't happen because I see neither team réaching the final The man has a bad attitude ptoblem, he though he was entitled because he though he was the best. When he rralised he wasn'teven the best center, he reacted poorly instead of sauing: I will improvr to show you I deserved to be number 1. .
I don't think that Shane has an attitude problem. He was just being honest. I have known him for a few years now and cockiness is not a word to describe him whatsoever. He wants to show that the teams who let him slip made a mistake, and that is perfectly justified. Let's say that you had four job interviews, and you were qualified for each job, but only one of them hires you. Wouldn't you want to show the other three that they made a mistake? You can make the argument that you would not do it so publicly but that's beside the point. I am actually happy that Seattle drafted Shane, especially after seeing all the other OHL beauties that the Kraken drafted after him.
Good to hear that, I think ppl are blowing things out of proportion. That stare is a normal reaction from someone who is competitive and got snubbed. Now hope he focus on his game to prove them wrong and I wish him well in SEA.
@@niklaslundh8944 Someone on Twitter posted a picture showing Martin St. Louis eating a bag of chips, practically pouring the crumbs into his mouth, and someone commented that maybe THAT was what Shane was looking at, as if to say "What the hell?" If I saw a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame doing that, my reaction would probably be the same. 😂
Wright is gonna be humbled quickly in his first season! When you got the likes of MArchand, Reaves, Tkachuk, Kadri, Wilson, Perry, he is gonna have to keep his head on a swivel.
Yeah, he will learn hopefully. I get the staredown having a little bit harder to get the likes on Instagram but can also understand he was all upset when he did that (going on social media when you're upset is never a smart thing) Hope for his sake he calms down and focus on the right things from now on.
He's a gritty 2 way center. And has tough guys on his team too that will make sure their stat center doesn't get harmed. Plus Wright's hockey is is off the charts, you think those brianlees goons will even be able to touch him? Like saying every goon going to put out McDavid cause he's full of him self😂😂👏👏👏👏
Shane Wright is going to show Seattle that his attitude is just fine. I love the fact he gave them the look and he will punish them in the future. Folks slandering Shane and worrying about his instagram "likes" instead of the player they picked instead. We will see what Slafkovsky's "attitude" is when he has his first 5 games scoreless streak and the fans are on his tail. We will see what his "attitude" is when he can't go to a restaurant or store without being bothered. We will see what his "attitude" is when he has a bad game after being spotted out at a club the night before and the media comes for him.
Slafkovsky was literally more happier that his best friend Filip Mesar got drafted than that he himself got drafted, i think that speaks a lot for his personality.
the only thing that worries me about Slafkovsky is that he seemed to brush right past Suzuki in the handshake line. Suzuki has earned respect from teammates past present or future
I would not say an attitude problem, he is only 18 after all, but maturity on the other hand i think Slaf beats him by a mile, Hughes did say character was one of his main focus for his vision of the team, wish both prospects luck and time only will tell the rest of this story
You cant correct Narcism easly Its deflating at one point, effects all who you love. From experience, hope he gets supported in Seattle, MTL to big a stage, who have been set to Fail Juraj reaction said it all, and his Mom Slovakia gohughesgo
Here's the thing - playing in Montreal isn't easy - you're in a fishbowl. If you play well, you are a god, you never have to pay to eat out, women flock to you in droves, it's heaven. If you don't, you'll get called out. If his skin is that thin, he would have gotten eaten alive at the first sign of adversity, which every kid faces.
I'm really not sure that Shane Wright wanted to play with the Canadiens, they were probably not even is his top 5, he just wanted to be the no1 pick. Since we learned that the Canadiens got no1 pick i checked more about Shane Wright and i was really not sure about him, i just got bad vibes about him. I think he is not emotionally mature yet, of course he is still young but so many others prospects were just way better in term of personality and real grits. I wish him the best with the Kraken, and im pretty sure he prefer playing for them than the Canadiens. **spoiler alerts : Shane Wright will not "click like" this comment.
Jack Eichel(i) was also convinced he was better than McDavid. -- we all know how that _played out._ Not only was he *not* McDavid (he wouldn't even be the second best player on the current Edmonton Oilers; he may not even be the 2nd best from his draft (Barzal, Marner, Rantanen, Connor, Chabot, Aho all spring to mind as potential candidates -- in no particular order!)(ii)), Buffalo also actually got *better* after his entitled ass was traded out. - & there are plenty of rumors floating around of him being a so called "locker room cancer", with lots of public statements of his in line with that repute. Montreal may have dodged a bullet there (Eichel 2.0), w/o the GM ever getting praised for it! Because; Slafkovsky is "probably" not McDavid (he doesn't have to!), and atleast (!) two games each year (Seatle - Habs) Wright *will definitely* be top motivated to "prove everyone wrong"... but from a team-building perspective, drafting "the best player" in the draft may not always actually be the best choice, if the potential "2nd best" comes with a lot less baggage (esp. in a top canadian market with lots of media-/fanpressure). "Locker room chemistry" etc. is still important! (But that's hard to measure and, as such, its hard for the GM to get recognition for that!) Have any one of you reading this watched "Draft Day" with Kevin Costner? Has Kent Hughes? ^^ PS: The death-stare is just hilarious! xD ... And him (allegedly) liking a comment about Slafkovsky being the next Yakupov may really, *really* come back to bite him *hard.* Yakupov was actually the top rated (!) prospect that year, *just like Wright;* but some GMs had doubts about his character and commitment. Oilers scouts did actually prefer Murray (!), who also filled more of a possitional need for d-men; instead management went with the hype. Seriously: everyone should be watching "Draft Day", after this! :D i) "Eichel" (german) translates to: "acorn" and also "glans" _Nomen est omen?_ EDIT ii) heck! xD And I completely forgot about a certain russian winger drafted in the 5th (!) round that year (#135 overall), by Minnesota, who just registered 108 points in 81 games this last season. What's the best Eichel's ever done?
The way hes acting now, shows me exactly why he wasnt picked, if this is his attitude, i don't think being a "good" player matters cause other players are as good and dont have a shitty attitude
Must be same for kucherov, Ovechkin, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, McDavid, Matthews, Crosby, MacKinnon etc etc. All super stars are like that, all you people being little girls and talking of a NHL superstar attitude problem, are clearly new to the hockey world.👏
Montreal's pick was the better pick - don't get me wrong - Wright has the potential to become an excellent player and I wish him the best of luck - you can be sure he will be motivated to disprove his critics . That being said Slafkovsky is more ready to play in the NHL and his attitude is the deal maker. The GM(s) saw something in his attitude that they thought would fit in the ultra tough Montreal market. Another factor - he's 18 years old , 6'4" and 219 pounds - he will probably goto 230 pounds all filled out and in the corners he will be a formidable force to deal with - God forbid he checks you. We have a coach who genuinely loves teaching young players and we also have Vincent Lecavalier to mentor - I see a bright future ahead but it will take time and patience. As a sub text I was sad to see Romanov traded - what a fine young man and a damn good hockey player - you gotta give up something good to get some thing good ( Kirby Dach ).
The twitter thread is obviously fake. The "worst 1st pick since yak" doesn't show any likes in front of the reply area, but shane wright "liked" it below. As for the stare down, I like the intensity. We don't know what was said to him from Montreal in terms of how much they wanted him. He probably dreamed of being drafted 1st overall to a canadian team for a long time. Also, before the draft he was criticized for being too "vanilla" and not having enough attitude. Now he all of a sudden has an attitude problem? Ridiculous.
I mean it’s easy for slafkovsky to have a good attitude when he got picked 1st overall.. I think Shane Wright is understandably pissed. I don’t think he has an attitude problem, I just think he’s fired up to get better and prove the GMs that passed on him wrong. We are just seeing it more than we have in the past because of the prevalence of social media.
Except that he should be disappointed instead of pissed. Pissed implies that he is all about himself and that's why he ended up where he is. He is only digging himself a bigger hole too. If you go strutting around like you should have been number one, then you now have a lot of pressure to live up to that claim.
Slafkovsky didnt minded to be pulled from any spot literally in an interview long before the draft he said that all he wants is to be drafted already by anyone so he can start working on himself
@@boneseyyl1060 you think he’s strutting around acting like he should have been number one?? Maybe you’re right, but I didn’t get that vibe from him. To me it seems like he’s pissed because he believes that he’s better then some of the guys picked ahead of him and he feels he’s being undervalued. Like if you got passed on for a promotion at your job and the guy who is clearly not as good of a worker as you gets the position. I think you can be pissed without it meaning you have an ego/attitude problem. I think it’s just gonna motivate him to work harder on his game over the summer and have a monster rookie season. I think it would be a red flag if he said he was disappointed and was nonchalant about being taken fourth.
@@benscott274 Problem with guys that get frustrated because they went lower in a draft and think they are better than the players picked above them is it shows you have an attitude. The more he talks about how good he is, the more he is going to have to prove it. And how is he going to handle it when it looks like maybe he wasn't the best pick for number one? Most likely by getting angry, frustrated, and uncoachable, because he already believes he is the best. It all remains to be seen. All the pressure should have been on Slaf as number one to prove himself, but now it's back on Shane. My guess is Seattle is going to have a hard time with him in his first season because he has this chip on his shoulder. The NHL game might just humble him a little bit, which is what he needs.
I know I'm late to the party here but this is similar to what Marco Rossi said after he got drafted. In one of his interviews (live), he said that "he's 100% ready to play in the NHL".
Cracks me up Wright dips to 4. Which Devils were never taking a center and Arizona was hyper focused on Cooley and now everyone starts piling on Wright. He’s 18. Was expected to go 1. Showed some displeasure and now he has an attitude problem. Get real Folks. Think when you were 18.
Martin St. Louis knew that Wrights ego wouldn't fit in the dressing room. I am not a Habs fan but fully respect their team for seeing Wrong for what he is.
He congratulated Slafkovsky after they were both drafted and i don’t think there is any problem with him believing that he deserves to be #1. Sure he could have said different things in interviews but he’s 18 years old and has been told he’s going #1 for years. He deserves to be upset that he didn’t get chosen and i don’t think he has an attitude problem at all. I’ve seen him play many times as i live near Kingston and he is a great leader on and off the ice. I believe Juraj was the right pick (as a habs fan) but i don’t believe Shane Wright having an additude is the reason he wasn’t picked.
Naw they just made Montreal made a mistake of the decade and passed up on Shane Wright for Kirby Dach 😂👏, so they all working hard to make it sound like they wanted to pass on the best draft pick. 😂👏. It's salty and funny and everyone can see it. Point at petty things like attitude and every super star in the world has it. Matthews mooning women, kuchetov shirtless and being drunk, Ovechkin banging teenagers heads off ice, McDavid being arrogant and chasing team mates away (they all say him and draisitil are toxic together in change room when loosing). Like their petty girly noticings have no sound logic. What they want him to do next? Tighten his panties and put on nail polish? Oooooohhh so he had a bit of anxiety and felt he should be #1, umm I think the award he got for projecting #1 by every scout in the world days prior proved that, regardless of bob McKenzie last minute paid off scout bogus list, that no one has ever listened to in over 10 years except Habs did 🤡
Sorry Johnny but I loved that moment. He gave that "You know y'all fucked up right" look. That's not arrogance he showing, he got a big chip on his shoulder because teams doubting what he can do and become because he missed 15 months hockey and it too him time to get back up to speed. He bout to make those teams regret passing on him. He got that competitive mindstate and attitude to become special.
Seriously am I only one who loves that he did the death stare. I mean his rolemodel is Ryan Kesler. He doesn't have to lick Martin st. Louis boots just because he is young. Finally someone has balls lol. I wish he continues staring.
If you ask me the main display of immaturity here is all the "adults" judging an 18 year old so hard simply because he's showing some emotion and frustration. Think for ONE second about the pressure he's been under for 3+ years. The effort he's put in, and all that work is rewarded with "he has an attitude problem" or "he doesn't have enough drive. I'd be frustrated too.
What effort? what emotion and frustration? he is being downright nasty and on top of it scouts criticised even before draft of how lazy Wright is and doesnt do that extra step he is able to do just because he is lazy. Yes he racked up nice points but as scouts said, he didnt put his all into it, is being lazy on trainings and even in matches, from what one scout said "It is very easy to play against Wright"
@@auri5459 I’d like to see confirmation that the liked instagram likes are legitimate. I suspect a high chance it’s edited. If it’s legit it’s the one thing that rubs me the wrong way. @Johnny Hawkey Hi. I'm a slovak and obviously a big fan of slafkovský. But... I don't think wright should be judged by that comment liking because it is a Bug that instagram has. If you like the first message, it says you liked all the other responses as well. Because for example, one politician "liked" Criticism on himself which looked really hilarious😂 But of course, he only liked the first comment. Just wanted to make that clear
The Instagram ones look fake because typically when someone likes a comment it will say "1 like" and underneath two of those comments, it doesn't say "1 like" despite saying Shane Wright liked this.
I do find it fascinating how so many fans who celebrated Wright for months, turned on him so quickly. We have some here that want an 18 year old to fail!!!...mon dieu. How can they allow themselves to be manipulated so easily...it's shameful. How come all this dirt is suddenly showing up when a short while ago he was a Prince? Not only are some now finding character flaws, they're suddenly talking about holes in his game! Others are now implying he wasn't a leader (heard he was quiet in the dressing room). Get a grip guys, he led where it counted, on the ice! Yzerman was quiet in the dressing room. For all the lemmings who are drinking the lemmingaid, do you gave any regrets in life? I've lost count of mine. I played 5 years of Junior (2 in la Belle Province) and years of Senior A and made an ass of myself when I allowed emotionally take over. I was an adult with a career then. I could forgive an 18 year-old for a GESTURE he made, in the most consequential day in his short life, but there is nothing to forgive!!! To go 4th in a talent laden draft like this one is nothing to be embarrassed about. You never know who will rise to the top. It would not surprise me in the least if Cooley turns out to be the best NHLer. Do we have to be reminded we're talkng about kids? Will you be as hard on Mailoux when he arrives? I love your passion but don't lose your humanity.
I wanted the habs to end up at the last place team back in November to draft Wright, but I realized he isn't a #1 pick. Wright was good but he only had that many goals cause they were all shots with no challenge from the players or goalies always just right top corner shot every time. A number 1 should have a wow factor. Shane doesn't wow. Slafkovsky is a beast that can skate. He scores with soft hands. He doesn't use his size to bulldog his way to score. He wowed me. I think Seattle got a head case with wright. He may even become a locker room cancer. The kid threw a temper tantrum and is even showing that he's vindictive. He claimed he's going to get pay back to the three teams that passed him up. He's clearly a prick if he doesn't get his way. That is a toxic person.
I would have been happy with Wright as an overall pick. I think he has the potential to be a great player. Last week, I read an article and his parents said that when Shane was a kid, sometimes he would play with other kids and have a hissy fit because he was playing with other kids and they didn't know what they were doing. His parents said they had to take him off the ice and give him a time out. They said, and I quote, it was embarrassing. After hearing his "I deserve to be picked first overall", that and his parents story made me feel like he's maybe a little full of himself. Then came the draft and the death stare. I don't know if he has a bad attitude but he was really immature about being selected 4th. 2 other teams passed over him. I think he took it personally because in his head, he was going to be a Canadien and he felt rejected. The mature and good natured thing to do was say I feel slightly disappointed but I'm happy to be picked by a team that will give me plenty of ice time and the opportunity to play in the NHL. Shane says he a leader but his death stare was not a winning attitude, it was a loser attitude. It was not classy at all. He's got time to grow and mature. He's only 18. He's been told he's special and the best for most of his teens. It might have got to his head a little. Maybe this will bring him back down to earth. Listen, when Crosby and Ovechkin came into the NHL, a reporter asked Ovechkin to say a few nice words about Crosby. His face lit up. He was saying so many great things about Crosby, saying he's a special person, etc. When the reporter asked Crosby about Ovechkin, Crosby looked upset, like why are you asking me about that guy? I thought it showed Crosby was immature. With time, I grew to like Crosby's attitude more more than Ovechkin. So I'll give Wright the benefit of the doubt. Do I have an issue with Wright playing extra hard against Montreal, NJ or Arizona? Absolutely not. On the contrary, go out and show them what they missed out on. But in the future if it turns out that he acts like he's above the team, it won't be a surprise to me. But again, he's young. He should mature with time and might even look back on the draft an resent his own actions.
It’s absolutely amazing thing yhat Shane W didn’t go to MTL no way he would be able to handle the heat there no way. If he does bad Seattle is the place he wants to be fanbase isn’t like anything in Canada yet alone mtl
Let's see if Wright gets himself in even more trouble with his character when Montreal plays the Seattle in his first game? Looks like Wright needs to get shaved down a notch, will he get that as it looks like he deserves or will he [mature]?
My big problem with that is why only the Montreal Canadiens and not the NJ Devils and the Arizona Coyotes? I know it's because he was deserving 1st overall that's why, but he still did not go 2nd or 3rd. For me it's just immature. Accept it and prove it that you deserved to go 1st, not death stares the team that you should of go with.
Habs, Devils and Coyotes were the 3 teams that had an interview with Wright right before the draft and i think Wright must have said some bad things there if exactly all this 3 teams passed on him.
As a long suffering Canucks fan, I can tell you now that Shane is going to be great. He falls to Seattle and with our luck he is going to terrorize us for years.
I’m a Krsken fan so understand the bias. I also coached rugby at a high level for many years and have dealt with every kind of athlete imaginable. After watching/listening to Wright being interviewed he strikes me as someone who’s celebrity is his identity. In other words his self worth is wrapped up in his value as a hockey player. Players of this type are incredibly fragile,(mentally) as their self worth goes up and down with their play. The are also extremely easy to motivate as you simply need to tap into that insecurity. I had a player like this, he asked after every game how he played and I would just shrug my shoulders say, “ok.” The next practice he would destroy everyone in sight. On the other side, they can become extremely self disruptive if things don’t go their way. He may grow out of the insecurity or he may not. If he doesn’t he will have an inconsistent career….showing flashes of excellence followed by long slumps.
I think in My opinion we are going to see a kakko & Hughes situation with Write Is going probably end up like kakko were going to get a Hughes type player good bit progressively better is that to much of hot take?
Wright is way better to skating in Seattle than Montreal. In Seattle, he could stare all day long and nobody will care about him or say anything... But in Montreal, he would not last one day without a front page in the newspaper for his stare!!! Montreal did the right thing for Wright!
I like it. He is butthurt and we are his nemesis now. We just created a Hab killer. He is young and emotional. You can still be entitled and be a great player. Ironically lots of his criticism from scouts were he should be more self centered and entitled on the ice. Stop passing the puck and start being a self centered Center. So maybe he got the hint. If he can translate all this animosity into his game he will do good. This is how rivalries are created. It all just ads to the excitement of watching Slafkovsky vs Wright matches in the future. I think its great for Seattle Kraken as well. Now they finally have a team to call a rival in the Habs.
I doubt Habs fans would be saying any of this if he had been drafted by us. But suddenly we feel the need to do character assassination because...what? He had an emotional reaction? Because we need a reason to justify why they didn't pick him? Just leave him alone, man, it's not hard.
Oh we call tell. Have fans mad they didn't get Shane so working hard and over time to make it look like they never wanted Shane, yet must be why the entire world and the arena boo'd when Shane was passed up on 👏👏👏🤡
Jezz he only fell to 4. Lot of scouts liked Slavkosky and Cooley better. Now I am gun shy on the power forwards taken lately high. But if he could be Laine like then it's good. Don't buy the Jagr comparisons. Although that would great.
I honestly don’t care that much about the death stare but the liking hate comments towards Slafkovsky and all that type of stuff on Instagram kind of gave me a bad vibe
He was disrespectful to the team that drafted him by being so upset about Montreal. Say thank you, put the jersey on, smile and shake hands. These people are paying you a fortune. Show some class. He’ll be a bust. Too entitled.
@@meller7303 I saw him stare down the Habs table while he was supposed to be shaking hands and having his picture taken, and I've heard him talk about having a chip on his shoulder about being drafted fourth. That's not showing his new team that he's happy to be there. It shows them that he wishes he'd landed somewhere else, despite the canned speech he gave. But I do hope it works out for Wright and the Kraken. Maybe he'll learn over time.
For me it’s the opposite. The Howard thing was more of a joke. These guys aren’t competing to be the best looking guy there, so it’s out of their element and doesn’t really matter. Wright saying he “deserves” to be first is a bit narcissistic and self centered.
I think you are wrong... We don't know what MTL told/promised him and we'll never know. But I think he felt he was lied too and disrespected himself. And he looked at them saying "Just watch me...". I think that's a winners attitude and too many fans are too woke and politically correct to acknowledge that. For MTL you reap what you sow imo... Makes me think of a certain Patrick Roy or Owen Nolan who pointed the top corner and shot a goal in th e bullseye or a Mark Messier promising a win. I am team Shane Wright on this and I can't wait to see his career!! Too bad he's not a Bruins or Leafs though!!
Wright is going to be a superstar. But I think Seattle is planning on rushing him. This will create a problem for his development. The days of old were off the draft right to the NHL,but the skills and speed levels are far higher now.Bigger players that can punish and injure the young players that are right off the draft. So having a player that has the natural talent like Wright is only beneficial if he is developed in Sweden for one to two seasons.I think that Wright could refuse to play for Seattle
i am under the impression that Wright showed a real part of his true personality when he looked at the Mtl table. when you are told you are number 1 for years you start beleiving that? and when the time to choose he is not chosen the natural rises to the surface? maybe maybe not?
I personally don't think so, he's just been told how awesome he is since 12 yrs old. His OCD is off the charts though. I loved his death stare, showed balls, I wish he had more of that all year. How can anyone not love the stare?
Seriously? You reckon that’s a way to act for a professional? Is he gonna death stare the coach when he decides to bench him if he doesn’t perform as expected? How did Slafkovsky react when some Habs fans boed him? Said he understand them and he will do everything to prove them his worthiness. That is class and so differen to Wright who acted immaturely and he needs to work on his attitude.
@@jozefbudovsky5053 yeah, I'm all fine with that push-back, shows a little balls which I always thought he lacked. He has some pride, respects his game... all good for me to do the death stare. Also he obviously had his heart set on Montreal, and the team made him feel like it was going to be a good chane it would happen he was crushed.
@@elvisisalive2716 ya if I was a player who was hyper at 15 that I was the best I had the best chance at anyone going 1st overall in the draft then I’m picked 4th I would be pissed because that’s a team saying your not the best so ya his death stare makes sense
Attitude is just as important as skill. I understand being upset over dropping from 1 but you need to be a professional about it. Like you said, that state down was disrespectful and uncalled for. His agent/gm/parents need to tell him to stay off social media. Everything he does for the next few months will be watched with a magnifying glass and something as little as liking a comment will be blown away out of proportion. He's still a kid though, he'll mature and should play with that chip on his shoulder.
Ovechkin has a garbage attitude and is 750+ goals. Kucherov is a trash attitude had a 128 point season and 2 cups, which McDavid or Crosby still haven't had, Matthews poor attitude since entering NHL, remember moon the woman, under, bum and all? And he's leafs best player in history. So your comment has no sound logic, just whining that Shane didn't go to Montreal and trying to find problems to justify the pick. We'll see who has the better attitude when shane is hoisting Calder and a Stanley Cup before anyone else on habs will be.and.i don't like either team, but stats speak for them selves. Name a time a Slovakian goliath has out played a Canadian #1 center pick. Who's.been #1 since he was 15. Name it ONE TIME?😂😂👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
If this had happened at an NBA or NFL draft it would not have been a big deal. Most of you would be screaming pouting too if you don’t get that expected job or promotion.
I'll bet Wright has been so good for so long and so hyped up already, he was afraid of getting hurt and it affected his game. Also, he has that Lindros type arrogance about him, which isnt going to help him.
Entitled is a good word, seems to me like in the Final series and the Tampa player screaming at the ref why not a penalty....d'uh,,,you held the guys stick....cooper "there were too many men on the ice...eexactly Avs had 6 but Lightning had 7 which team Cooper should get penalized ? he can't exactly be too smooth about that....but a stare down....yeah thanks for the pic and comments.....every star in the league is grateful to parents, coaches, trainers, everyone for helping them get to their success.....but Wringts off on Wrong foot

As a Habs fan, the Slafkovsky pick keeps getting better and better each day. I think Montreal did the right thing
I feel the exact same way.
Hell yeah Slaf is a beast
@@habshockey1063 Slaf is a big boy too

@@gforthee he does!
Yes a disappointment like Drouin. Remember when they compared him to Crosby 🤣🤣
You all seem to think an 18 can’t have emotions. Quit nit picking. Guess what Jordan had an attitude and was arrogant cocky etc etc etc.

Montreal isn't the place for this Shane Wright when the pressure really mounts.
He’s just a spoiled kid, got whatever he wanted from mommy and daddy. I wanted him and I was chapped that we didn’t draft him but I’ve definitely change my tune. With that attitude the fans woulda eaten him alive in Montreal.

Won't happen. Not in a million years, slafkosvky is not NHL ready, Shane has been since 16. Shane's shot and hockey IQ is very high, his stats being elite since ,12 years old prove it. Slafkovsky has done nothing elite in any of his career.

Agreed, most of us guys said stupid shit at that age. Give him some time. Also Habs fans for months were excited to get him
Did you see him and his Dad? His dad says it's not where you go it's what you do. Shane says where you go too, then his dad says it's where you go and what you do. So he dominates his dad. Probably since he's a kid he's been like that. Entitled

I don't have a problem with the death stare at all. Shows the kid is ultra competitive.
Exactly !!! Finally someone says it
Yep, the horror of somebody wanting and thinking he is the best, can't have that in MTL can we?
It astounds me how some people confuse competitiveness for downright nasty behaviour, that has nothing to do with competitiveness, its downright nasty for a future possible sport star to be liking badmouthing posts about the 1st overall pick just because he is sour when like a day ago he was shaking his hand for it. Thats legit downright disgusting, nasty, pretentious behaviour not competitive.

He doesn't know his worth. He's not a NHL caliber player anymore. He has one career goal.
It will be interesting to eventually learn why 3 teams passed on him
Devils needed defense more then a centre, so I understand why they passed on him.
Montreal passed on Zedina too and he said he’ll just “fill their nets with pucks.”
Zedina still hasn’t tAken off so maybe Montreal knows something.

hey can you tell me how you got the new rookies from the draft is like in quick game or smt ?
His bad stare, him saying Slafkovsky was the worse pick since ... and then saying the Krakken will éliminate the HABS kn playoffs (which likely won't happen because I see neither team réaching the final

Shane Wright is going to show Seattle that his attitude is just fine. I love the fact he gave them the look and he will punish them in the future. Folks slandering Shane and worrying about his instagram "likes" instead of the player they picked instead. Slafkovsky was literally more happier that his best friend Filip Mesar got drafted than that he himself got drafted, i think that speaks a lot for his personality.

Must be why he has had elite stats since birth 👏
Can we wait until the season starts and give this kid a chance to get on the ice before we start judging?
Jack Eichel(i) was also convinced he was better than McDavid. -- we all know how that _played out._
Not only was he *not* McDavid (he wouldn't even be the second best player on the current Edmonton Oilers; he may not even be the 2nd best from his draft (Barzal, Marner, Rantanen, Connor, Chabot, Aho all spring to mind as potential candidates -- in no particular order!)(ii)), Buffalo also actually got *better* after his entitled ass was traded out.
(But that's hard to measure and, as such, its hard for the GM to get recognition for that!)
Have any one of you reading this watched "Draft Day" with Kevin Costner? Has Kent Hughes? ^^
PS: The death-stare is just hilarious! xD
i) "Eichel" (german) translates to: "acorn" and also "glans"
_Nomen est omen?_
EDIT
ii) heck! xD
And I completely forgot about a certain russian winger drafted in the 5th (!) round that year (#135 overall), by Minnesota, who just registered 108 points in 81 games this last season.
All super stars are like that, all you people being little girls and talking of a NHL superstar attitude problem, are clearly new to the hockey world.👏
Look at the Aaron Rodgers nfl draft. Too much to even explain. He didn't complain, and went out and kicked ass
Must be why the entire Montreal arena was boo'ing 👏
The twitter thread is obviously fake. The "worst 1st pick since yak" doesn't show any likes in front of the reply area, but shane wright "liked" it below.
As for the stare down, I like the intensity. We don't know what was said to him from Montreal in terms of how much they wanted him. He probably dreamed of being drafted 1st overall to a canadian team for a long time. Also, before the draft he was criticized for being too "vanilla" and not having enough attitude. Now he all of a sudden has an attitude problem? Ridiculous.
Thank you. It honestly upsets me the way Wright is being judged. I'm a Habs fan, and I wish him the absolute best

You're a really good analyst and I appreciate and respect your work
He congratulated Slafkovsky after they were both drafted and i don’t think there is any problem with him believing that he deserves to be #1.

Hope he can back the stairdown in the nhl, some boys don't play around
@@sergeouellette4631 that remains to be seen. I would hope so for the sake of boredom lol.
The entitled are in fact....
As for it being “nasty”, I disagree. Immature and petty sure.
But if liking a post is nasty your standards are pretty sensitive.
And if you don’t think Shane Wright has put an insane amount of effort into these last three years, you’re completely out of touch with reality
@@meller7303 Those were not my words, those were the words of scouts and no these standards are not sensitive, imagine you and your colleague gets the chance for a promotion and ure the one that gets it, some lame gossiper from the company badmouths you on social media and ur colleague that competed with you for that spot liked it, thats definitely not something that would make things competitive but straight out tense with hatred in the office.
@@auri5459 if you can point me to the source, great, if not it’s basically just hearsay.
And as I already mentioned, if he actually liked those posts, it DOES rub me the wrong way. I’m just not sure he actually did
@Johnny Hawkey Hi.
Yes he has a bad additude and he needs to lighten up before coming to aeattle bc we seattlites don't put up with bullies 😡
You’re about to have a Walmart eichel lmao
Let's see if Wright gets himself in even more trouble with his character when Montreal plays the Seattle in his first game? Looks like Wright needs to get shaved down a notch, will he get that as it looks like he deserves or will he [mature]?
Ya Montreal's kids and Seattle's men. We will see how that goes. Habs weak. No weber, Petry, chirot or Petry now.
Devils have 3 centers they really had no intention on 4. They drafted by need. Pretty obvious. Arizona put all their scouting time in Cooley.
I think in My opinion we are going to see a kakko & Hughes situation with
Write Is going probably end up like kakko were going to get a Hughes type player good bit progressively better is that to much of hot take?
I wouldn't be surprise if Wright get injured in training camp .
He'll get over it in year or two.
How did you get both Wright and Slafkovsky in their respective teams?
in the main menu there should be an option to edit teams and rosters.
@@auri5459 yes but you can’t bring players from junior teams to the NHL… you can only do it in Franchise Mode when you draft them
As your saying this wright scores a boss goal in your PlayStation game
Great video
I doubt Habs fans would be saying any of this if he had been drafted by us. But suddenly we feel the need to do character assassination because...what? He had an emotional reaction? Because we need a reason to justify why they didn't pick him? Just leave him alone, man, it's not hard.
Yes. Just like eichel, or even johnny football (manziel)
Red Heads can have a wicked temper. That’s why they are called “Hot Heads”
Only time will tell.
Lol Montreal is a meme in and of itself. The fact that everyone is so hurt by the 4th overall’s pick “attitude” is hilarious.
Great analysis here! I didn't know all of these facts....Good job! (I'm a Habs fan) :D
Miss Congeniality , lol !!!!
He is Bo Callaghan
I honestly don’t care that much about the death stare but the liking hate comments towards Slafkovsky and all that type of stuff on Instagram kind of gave me a bad vibe
He was disrespectful to the team that drafted him by being so upset about Montreal. Say thank you, put the jersey on, smile and shake hands. These people are paying you a fortune. Show some class.
He’ll be a bust. Too entitled.
Did you listen to a word he said about the Kraken immediately after he was drafted? He literally did all those things
McDavid and Matthews and Crosby all said the same thing and ate they all narcissistic? You point at one point at all
Kinda like the movie Draft Day….
Wright denied the claims.
The average super star personality? Right like none of the elites have that at l 😂👏
That’s not Wright’s account, he did not like those comments. Way off in those comments
I mean if I was Shane wright and I got dropped down to the fourth overall pick I would be pissed too
I personally don't think so, he's just been told how awesome he is since 12 yrs old.
@@wintercold8634 I agree!
Loved that he had the balls to do it. It takes a lot of self confidence and character.
At least shane won't have to learn french
You mean the same arrogance, Matthews, Crosby, Ovechkin, kucherov, Lafreniere, Makar, fox, McAvoy all have? Point at one point at all bud
Johnny Hawkey WWWWWWWW
I dont know why he took it personal, no one in the habs promised him the spot he should chill.
Cause he thought he will be the 1st overall since he was 15.
You could tell in his post draft interview that he was heated. He was talking a mile a minute and seemed like he was either super pissed or On meth.
Zadina vibes
nah. give me all the disrespect. i want more villains. hockey has too many guys who pretend to be good guys when they're lowkey dirtbags. give me someone who chooses violence everyday.
