From Wikipedia:
McDonough is a city in Henry County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. Its population was 22,084 at the 2010 census, up from 8,493 in 2000. The city is the county seat of Henry County.
The unincorporated communities of Blacksville, Flippen, Kelleytown, and Ola are located near McDonough, and addresses in those communities have McDonough postal addresses.
The town was named for naval officer Commodore Thomas Macdonough and founded in 1823 around a traditional town square design. The buildings surrounding the square are intact, although there are some vacancies. The county courthouse and historic jail building are on the north side near the Welcome Center in a historically maintained Standard Oil service station, built in 1920. The station also houses the Main Street Program Office and Hospitality and Tourism Office.
One block east of the square, the town's original cotton warehouse has been replaced with the Henry County Judicial Center. In the same area the Henry County Courthouse Annex has an original oil on canvas "Cotton Gin" (4+1⁄2 by 11 feet) by artist Jean Charlot. He painted this oil in 1942 for the town post office. His works can be found all over the world in everything from children's books to large murals.
The town was a relay station on the New York to New Orleans stagecoach line and was connected by other stage lines with Fayetteville and Decatur, and with Macon by way of Jackson.[8]
On June 23, 1900, a washout during a thunderstorm caused a train wreck about 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of town on the Camp Creek Bridge. The runoff undermined about 100 feet (30 m) of the Georgia Southern Railroad (Macon division) prior to the accident, and the passenger train subsequently caught fire, killing 39.[9] This was one of the worst train crashes in American history and is known as the Camp Creek train wreck. It was featured on an episode of the paranormal TV series Haunted Towns in 2017.
Several individual buildings and two historic districts in the city are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the downtown McDonough Historic District.

I love living in Mcdonough Georgia It's a good place to raise your kids
I have some questions I’d like to ask
Is there anyway of contacting you?
Thinking about moving there but want to get some info❤
Thank You for showing McDonough, GA. I’ve been waiting for a video like this. Since I’m Moving there next year.🙏🏾
You're welcome
I'm moving soon
Thank you very much for visiting Henry County. You chose the the right time, as all the construction in the Square is near or fully completed.
I lived there for about a year and a half on a small farm, in 1976, when I was in the 7th grade.
I went to McDonough Baptist Tabernacle (Just about EVERYONE did! There was only about 1,000 residents at the time, I'd say.) Preacher West was in charge. A great man and great friend to everyone. If you weren't in church, he would spot that, pause, ask if anyone had seen you. Then send a Decon to your house to make sure you were OK. And if you were, bring you in to church! Everyone was expected to be there at least once every Sunday, and Wed evening was a bonus.
(My religious views have changed, but everything I gained from that experience is AWESOME!)
There was one tiny gas station, with a little convenience store and liquor store attached. it was owned by a GREAT man, named "Bubba". (I am NOT making that up!) He was a US Marine Vet of WW2.
There was a diner near the courthouse (where the clocktower is.)
It was a cross between Mayberry and BttF in the 1955 bit.
EVERYONE was like a family! Everyone knew your business. There was one religion, Southern Baptist Christian and about 2 churches.
IT has ALWAYS been PARADISE to me. I have lived all over, and have been living in Asia the past 15 years.
I am sure, and sad, that McDonough has changed MAJORLY since those days.
but it will ALWAYS be my favorite place in the world!
Nice video Georgia Mike it's cool that your visiting more Georgia cities
More to come!
Thanks Mileage Mike. I am considering a move to McDonough from Atlanta.
Good choice!
Smokey and the Bandit was filmed here.
Thank you. Hoping to move there next year.
Best of luck!
Repent and turn to JESUS CHRIST! Spread this to everyone you know immediately!!
Hello, I'm going to Atlanta at the end of March for a few days and then to Mcdonough, could you please recommend a hotel?
Thanks 🙂
I like the Hyatt Place at The Perimeter in Sandy Springs. Not a big fan of most of the hotels on the south side of the Atlanta area. McDonough itself might have some nice ones off I-75 but I’ve never stayed down there.
@@MileageMikeTravels super merci :)

I moved to mcdonough in 93 from jonesboro Ga and it was a lot better then, they are building way to many buildings and the traffic is bad,I always seem to have to take a left on a road and there are no traffic lights and t takes a while.
