As a chubby kid growing up, I literally had the same sort of experience. I’ve always been chubby since I was little, but I never seemed to realize I was fat. Around 5th grade I realized my body was different. My classmates realized this too. I remember I walked in one day and the boys were talking about the girls and rating them one to ten. I happened to walk in when they were rating me and this one boy said “she’s so ugly she shouldn’t even be on the scale” and they called me names and what not. One boy said “I mean she’s funny and watches anime but that’s it. She might as well be a guy”. The girls started treating me differently too. As if my only good point was being funny. It was hard. But I ended up becoming motivated to do something about my weight. I started playing sports and I discovered that I actually loved soccer and track. I lost a lot of weight and I was fit by the time highschool came around. I remember the same boy who insulted me ended up asking me to the 8th grade dance and I reminded him of what he had said and kindly denied. I felt great about my body and I was able to meet so many new and great people. Edit: just a reminder to everyone, you are loved, you are amazing and you are beautiful the way you are. It was mostly special education over there, and I went there cos autism (tho I was fine with the school I went to before), got bullied into oblivion, but then there was this moment were someone was trying to break my arm and I was a n g r y, and I chased the guy down the hall trying to kick or hit him, eventually I gave up and I walked away from school, and I didn't get in trouble! I see it as an absolute win.
