Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to a tweet about a MH stream. Also a big congratulations on beating the main game! I know people would say that it was just the tutorial. Even if I agree with them that base World was somewhat of a "tutorial" you definitely aced it as a beginner hunter! While maybe not an ace hunter by any means, people wouldn't think that you're an absolute beginner with how you easily grasped the game flow. The fact that you were able to get through early Master Rank with undertuned armor and almost no carts (that Paolomu infuriated me, even if I wasn't the one playing!), is amazing. Completing the base game on your own was great and poor the Great Jagras who woke up this sunday just to be massacred in less than a minute by the IRyStocrats lol. I still appreciate that you played the game without much help with a gamer mindset without relying on the defender set ^^ honestly I thought it was a chad move because you thought on your own for the equipment or asked for advices. I believe it's the way the game must be played the first time and I think you're already better than me :D! Just a few tips: -Check the 1 Star MR mission of the clutch claw tutorial, it will make your hunts easier for stunning monsters or create opportunities for the group. -Complete some of the optional quests, if you read the descriptions you can see what the rewards at the end, specially the ones with the (. . .) they provide more items to use and upgrade (like upgrades for mantles or more farming slots for the botanical center). -Give it a read for a guide about the Palico's Gadgets, Pyonkichi can get many more while you explore the levels through expeditions and some allow for trapping the monsters, taunting them and act as a tank or even getting more materials from the monsters for you during the fights) PS: I don't personally hate the Handler but I feel like she's more of someone who thinks about eating and getting in trouble instead of helping you through the story. Serious handler supremacy forever (she has a good personality and also cute! Not at your levels though...!)

That Nightshade Paolumu fight just seems like pure frustration tactics if you don't have anything you need to keep yourself awake. The Paolumu is funny for repeatedly trying to tail smack HimeRyS but keeps missing as she lazily wanders away from it in a stupor, so the frustration was worth at least one moment of amusement.
Congrats on finishing the base game and finally getting your golden cheater mantle. I'll write some stuff because I had fun watching another SA user, but feel free to ignore it. I'm noticing you're rushing into that same Axe mode combo every time and it's leaving you wide open. Running Axe Poke ---> Wild Swing (mashing circle) is a great way to cart later against the tougher monsters. Running Axe Poke ---> R2 (sword morph) gets you into sword mode real quick and lets you start building the meter without locking you into the animation. If you're in Sword mode, you don't need to do that awkward ass roll all the time. You can just roll and press R2 while rolling to do a stylish swap into Axe mode for more mobility. You can charge up the sword meter pretty fast by doing Triangle + Circle (your explosion), and while mashing circle to explode, you can press L2 to combo into clutch claw before the explosion for easy meter gain. Any way you look at it, getting to Iceborne as a newcomer without quitting is impressive. You're only gonna get better at using Switch Axe.

Good hunting and gratz on clearing the tutorial, Hime Besides grinding out master rank armor offstream. Definitely do low/high rank "Persistent Pests" and "Talons of Fire and Ice" optional quests. Those should help alleviate some of that honey and gathering grind. And if you ever feel more comfortable with Pyonkichi not healing Maybe look into unlocking the plunderang from a Rotten Vale side quest. So he can "steal" mats from monsters (even gems or mantles) to help reduce some of the grind Otsu after a "short" 8hr stream And hype for members watchalong

Good hunting today IRyS, and now that you're finally in Iceborne, you can finally start farming for real armor. Generally you want something that works with your weapon, or a specific monster you're hunting, and then you use Jewels to raise the level of skills even higher, or fill in gaps your armor skills are missing. Generally stuff like increasing Elemental attack if you have an Elemental weapon, or maybe Posion/Sleep resistance, or maybe you just find Roars/Tremors annoying and want to negate them.
Also Irys i know you might forget it until the next time, but try to look at the beta variants of the iceborn armors, because most of them actually are quite different looking from their alpha variants.

Thank you for the long MH stream today, IRyS! I was wondering if you were going to keep playing since the last MH was quite some time ago. Imagine my surprise when I woke up this morning to a tweet about a MH stream.
Also a big congratulations on beating the main game! I know people would say that it was just the tutorial. Even if I agree with them that base World was somewhat of a "tutorial" you definitely aced it as a beginner hunter! While maybe not an ace hunter by any means, people wouldn't think that you're an absolute beginner with how you easily grasped the game flow. The fact that you were able to get through early Master Rank with undertuned armor and almost no carts (that Paolomu infuriated me, even if I wasn't the one playing!), is amazing.
We hope you will consider continuing your Iceborne journey on stream. We're having a blast seeing your journey and joining you on co-op massac... I mean hunts!

Just one more helpful thing to note, that I noticed on stream: Complete any optional quests that have a speech bubble on them 💬 That's where you'll get stuff like garden expansions, extra mantles, and ingredients for the Canteen. All pretty useful things for your regular in-game grind. After that you can ignore all the other optional and just enjoy MR hunts

I still appreciate that you played the game without much help with a gamer mindset without relying on the defender set ^^ honestly I thought it was a chad move because you thought on your own for the equipment or asked for advices. I believe it's the way the game must be played the first time and I think you're already better than me :D!
Just a few tips:
-Check the 1 Star MR mission of the clutch claw tutorial, it will make your hunts easier for stunning monsters or create opportunities for the group.
-Complete some of the optional quests, if you read the descriptions you can see what the rewards at the end, specially the ones with the (. . .) they provide more items to use and upgrade (like upgrades for mantles or more farming slots for the botanical center).
-Give it a read for a guide about the Palico's Gadgets, Pyonkichi can get many more while you explore the levels through expeditions and some allow for trapping the monsters, taunting them and act as a tank or even getting more materials from the monsters for you during the fights)
PS: I don't personally hate the Handler but I feel like she's more of someone who thinks about eating and getting in trouble instead of helping you through the story. Serious handler supremacy forever (she has a good personality and also cute! Not at your levels though...!)

That Nightshade Paolumu fight just seems like pure frustration tactics if you don't have anything you need to keep yourself awake.
The Paolumu is funny for repeatedly trying to tail smack HimeRyS but keeps missing as she lazily wanders away from it in a stupor, so the frustration was worth at least one moment of amusement.
Congrats on finishing the base game and finally getting your golden cheater mantle. I'll write some stuff because I had fun watching another SA user, but feel free to ignore it.
I'm noticing you're rushing into that same Axe mode combo every time and it's leaving you wide open.
Running Axe Poke ---> Wild Swing (mashing circle) is a great way to cart later against the tougher monsters.
Running Axe Poke ---> R2 (sword morph) gets you into sword mode real quick and lets you start building the meter without locking you into the animation.
If you're in Sword mode, you don't need to do that awkward ass roll all the time. You can just roll and press R2 while rolling to do a stylish swap into Axe mode for more mobility.
You can charge up the sword meter pretty fast by doing Triangle + Circle (your explosion), and while mashing circle to explode, you can press L2 to combo into clutch claw before the explosion for easy meter gain.
Any way you look at it, getting to Iceborne as a newcomer without quitting is impressive. You're only gonna get better at using Switch Axe.
OtsuRyS, thanks for the long stream today IRyS and congrats on clearing World. The grind is only just begun About rebroadcasting unarchived karaoke, I think it's a good idea to start it when you have stuffs need to be done (like signing postcard). I usually watch karaoke stream while working myself so in a way we all can be productive while enjoying a stream It doesn't have to be at your usual streaming time either, you can do it whenever you feel like it. Hope you consider that

Besides grinding out master rank armor offstream. Definitely do low/high rank "Persistent Pests" and "Talons of Fire and Ice" optional quests. Those should help alleviate some of that honey and gathering grind. And if you ever feel more comfortable with Pyonkichi not healing Maybe look into unlocking the plunderang from a Rotten Vale side quest. So he can "steal" mats from monsters (even gems or mantles) to help reduce some of the grind

Good hunting today IRyS, and now that you're finally in Iceborne, you can finally start farming for real armor. Generally you want something that works with your weapon, or a specific monster you're hunting, and then you use Jewels to raise the level of skills even higher, or fill in gaps your armor skills are missing. Generally stuff like increasing Elemental attack if you have an Elemental weapon, or maybe Posion/Sleep resistance, or maybe you just find Roars/Tremors annoying and want to negate them.
