Only saving grace was he had his craft to fall back on and be able to swim out of the quicksand and also because he's an intelligent person that's not a rocker messed up addict. No one else would of survived otherwise. I'm so impressed with his reaction to the biggest tragedy of all. Losing everything you love and care for.
And starting all over again.
Just wow!
Words just cannot begin to address a loss of that magnitude......:-(
It is a wonderful comment Sam. My father has just died of cancer recently but reading Neil's book has helped me deal with this loss. Thank you for sharing Ghost Rider Neal. You saved my life.
@@johnnyenglish9622 hang in there brother. I lost mine 16 years ago. You will see in so many ways, he always a part of you... It's tough at first but you will grow through it. Stay strong
@@scottshields113 Thanks very much sir. Neil's survival through a very tough time as helped too. Cheers.
Neil deserves the highest respect and admiration for coming back after those tragedies!
IMO, 3:16 to 3:46 is one of the most epic segments of music from their entire works.
Agreed, I'm not a huge fan of this album but that part is heavenly. I wish it were longer.
Lerxst is a versatile genuis ... Great Rhythmic guitar 'solo ' 👏
Lost my wife of 30 years this April. She was my best friend, gave me 2 awesome kids and was with me for every Rush concert we could get to.
She was truly one of a kind, I miss you my love, this song is for you. ❤😢❤

Thank You ❤@@JUNIPER21126
Greatest Trio in the history of Rock - Chi - POWER - Peart was the embodiment, the essence of what makes a genius musician and what sets him apart from all the rest. A great man was lost in 2020 but his body of work will be forever remembered appreciated and like all cherished things - will only get better over time
One of my all-time favorite Rush songs!
Suddenly you were gone, from all the lives you left your mark upon... RIP Neil

Brilliant song from a brilliant album. I love that synthy bit in the middle. This is the good stuff we missed from 1994 onwards. Contrasts and atmospheres mixed with awesome power guitars.
Suddenly you were gone, for all the lives you left your mark upon. I will always love you, Neil! RIP
Absolutely had to come here after hearing the news
Rest in peace neal 😭
Written in /84, the track was dedicated to Robbie Whelan, an assistant engineer on some of Rush's earlier albums,The track deals with the loss of a friend and the emotional aftermath. The opening lyric was quoted in the liner notes for Rush's 1998 live release, Different Stages, as a dedication to drummer Neil Peart's daughter and wife, who died in 1997 and 1998, respectively
"Suddenly...you were gone...from all the lives you left your mark upon..."
