Activists are trying to make 2018 the year Native Americans change an election. “A huge stereotype that we have to overcome is that Native Americans were defeated, that we don’t exist anymore, that we’re extinct,” stated Western Native Voice’s Alissa Snow. Native American history is rich but Native Americans today deserve a voice in politics. In this short Native American documentary, we speak to Native Americans in Montana about the midterm elections 2018. The Native American vote was important, as is voting rights for all Americans. Western Native American voters shared their voice.

My ❤ goes out to the young Native Woman who lost her Brother & Sister Inlaw to a violent crime. My Son, North Star was murdered in a boarder town of the Menominee Reservation & the police deemed it a suicide. He was just one more dead Indian they didn't have to deal with.

As an Apache i love hearing natives understand how government has been the thorn in our sides...i hate hearing how so many think that voting blue is going to help.
If government is and has been our problem how is increasing the size of said government going to help us.
A new economic and political system would be one of the big steps. I wonder what did first americans think of the soviet union and trade unions?
The two party system is designed to keep alternatives out. That's why I think we need to switch to rank choice voting and open this shit up to allow more parties to participate easier. They set up soo many hoops for smaller parties to jump through, and it took several election cycles of hard work to just elevate the Green Party to minor party status, and weren't even allowed on debate stages. It's ridiculous.
Well it's either big government or big corporations running the country. I'd much rather have more regulation than none. Corporations are the ones who poison water and exploit the land. If it wasnt for government regulations on big business the beaches would be dumping grounds. Water would be undrinkable by now even more than it already is.
This is a privilege to learn more about how First Nations people live. I am a white male. I hear the pain and do my best to understand how you must feel. I thank you women and men of the Crow nation for the sharing with all of us.
Thank you natives, you need to really vote and let everyone else know that they are immigrants except if they are one of you. I sincerely appreciate your tolerance. Other than you people, I always ponder over why other thinks America is for them and only them should be living in it. Americans, learn your history.

This is great. The first persecuted people on this land are escaping their darkness and overcoming the oppression. Never think that ALL of America's people haven't wanted to know what tapdance of federal and state policies needed to happen to get you water that isn't bad, lands that aren't strip-mined & then leave you left with poisonous run-off. The water issues is RIDICULOUS but so MANY other things is NOT right.

Hope you folk's know the U.S., Congress has stated we (the tribe's) need to make our own politics ,.. i see the Flathead's talking about non-members in their newspaper like they cherish they more then their own people's ,.. these tribe's have been using the state of montana D.M.V., for their own use ,.. another right given away that's between the state/tribe's ,.. not us ,.. the Flathead's housing is apartment buildings not individual homes ,. We need home's and not colonial construction ,.. we need to take our Reservation's back from outsider's , so we can keep them out of our stores and places of businesses

My dear Native Americans, you're right the government should be limited. I'm sorry for all that you've entered. I understand I grew up in the inner city and I was white and also a Christian this was not an easy thing to live with. The oldest of four the best thing my mom did for us when she took us to church.
We were always living in the best situations. Mom did the best she could and we were on when I was 13 I started to babysit so that gave us a little more income so that way we could at least have two meals a day instead of one.
My faith is what's kept me alive. Only by the grace of Jesus was I able to endure all the torture that I went through and I'm here to say that if we turn to Jesus he will heal us and he will heal our lands.
In my family we have Lakota. My great-grandmother was the daughter of the Lakota chief. I'm sorry I don't know what tribe she's from because she passed away when I was very little. My father taught me about some of the things that she taught him as a boy.
How to respect people how to keep your word. How to care for the environment around you and living creatures that are around you. I later discovered through study in the Bible that it also talks about this as well.
I actually have traditional clothing and jewelry from the tribe that my great-grandmother came from. My father put it in framed and I remember seeing it as a little girl at my grandfather's house.
She taught me as much as she taught him and I was very blessed to know this. I'm not sure if I would be welcomed because I don't look very native American. I'm half Norwegian Greek and Italian as well.
But I think I mentioned that my eyes are black what you're quite unusual.

Guys I got to tell you if you take this step I what you vote for to make your lives better you will get it. Write lots of letters to our president I promise you he will respond. He is a man who wants to make things right and he is a man who wants to make America great again for all Americans.
He's not perfect but I promise he won't ignore your please and what you are longing for.
What I do know is that he's a man of God he wakes up every morning and praise and reads his Bible and when there's a Bible study he goes and he studies. He grew up Presbyterian he cannot be bought off and he knows that there are Elites in the world that want to see America completely destroyed.
Write to our president so he can make things right. I promise he's a man who loves all cultures all people because we are all Americans. For the first time in my life I am no longer ashamed to be American. I was told my entire life my ancestors killed the Native Americans my ancestors enslave black people my family wasn't even here during those times. And I was forced to carry shame for something that my family did not do.

Good luck with the vote. Make sure that legislature has not been passed that requires a street address instead of just a PO box. Please check to make sure you still registered. State legislatures are passing 'ALEC' created bills, and there is a lot of voter suppression bills going around.

There are states that do not require any ID to vote. In 2016, I traveled to one where I voted 32 times for Hillary Clinton, twice in one afternoon at a single polling place.
And she STILL lost the election. Next time I’ll try another state and having changed over to MAGA, will vote for Trump at least 25 times.

Our tribal leaders have been stealing money for too long and are pathetic examples of strong leadership. They speak about tradition as if the past is a place to live and fail to manage tribal funds on a massive scale. There is a reason why native tribes arent allowed to used federal trade markers on the stock market. We own the minerals....we own the lands. Sadly many natives are still pointing their blame outwards towards governments and others instead of looking at ourselves for the answer. No more excuses. No more looking for some free money. We need truly educated native members who arent subjected to the traditional scrutiny of our elders who have wisdom but lack action. My mothers generation didn't pay attention to the kids growing up and as a result. Most of us became shitheads trying to gain acceptance from other shitheads making crappy choices. Well that day is over. There is a new generation of natives that will suceed in life without their hands out waiting for some outside miracle. They are the children. Oh c'mon, you didn't even have the wheel or simple metallurgy skills. There was wars between both with tribes fighting on both sides. There is no excuse for you to not succeed here, you can become President, you can be a CEO of a company, if you work hard enough you can go to post secondary school and get somewhere in life, you blame and hate european people for stealing your land which you had no proper claims or major structured settlements in but then beg for European majorities to help help help you and give you more money.
