You guys very dark, but it the last years too dark, your early your early records still had a up beat, I seen in in NY in your first gig in at the Ritz, awesome show, stay away from the politics, fun in rock is what is important, love the older stuff, new stuff too depressing
Agree with you, Mitchell. I miss the upbeat DM. It’s too bad the ‘dark’ stuck to them. They don’t have to be. They don’t have to sound ‘relevant’ to anyone but themselves. They rise to high fame while in their ‘dark’ phase so perhaps they feel they need to stick to that. But I agree, they don’t have to. I don’t understand the sneering at ‘upbeat’, as if rock has to be black doom gloom and sex.

100% agreed. "Spirit" is IMO their worst album to date.
Theyve made political songs before you were prob just a little bit too dense to get it
