For a year now I've been cacthing up with Depeche mode and I really enjoy most of the songs, whose lyrics generally depict facts from life, there's a story behind every song. my favorite songs are Strangelove, enjoy the silence (whose isn't it), personal Jesus, it's no good... by the way I love David's baritone speaking voice.
They are by far the greatest band I’ve ever seen live. When I saw them for the first time I had so much respect for this band. They’re the most influential band to so many other artists you wouldn’t even believe. You can’t even find another band to compare to them. They write all there own music and produce all there own music. They are musical geniuses. If you don’t have an ear for Depeche Mode you don’t have an ear for music. Plain and simple.
A good bloke i think is the accurate description of this fine gentleman. My teen hero, DM were my 1st concert i went to on my own at 14 in 1988, they sure paved the way for me into the music life. Must be amazing when your son puts your new record on a 2nd time that night you gave him the copy.....so this was 12 years ago? Now they are still going, even if it is just him & Martin now. Amazing, although i would not go to see them live.
Their live shows are a great experience every time. Always hear new versions of favorites and even tyhe new material. Dave has always been a great front man!
The feeling you get is touching and full of joy.I feel happiness in the energy with the music. Everyone in the band have a special place. Dave have an amazing voice. Martin too. All in the band becomes a fantastic combination of incredible good music. And give so much joy and positive energy in a fantastic way which is hard to de describe. ❤❤❤❤️🔥❤❤❤
I don't know. I think their best years are behind them. I have seen them on every tour since MFTM and I'm done. I miss the electronic DM. I loved them because they weren't the typical rock band but now that's what they are. Rather boring to me.
DJdext I agree, I miss that rich synth sound from Some Great Reward and forward, songs like Happiest Girl. Maybe that’s what Allan brought to the table. They will forever be my favorite band and I thoroughly enjoy the shows but that spark is missing.
@@cyndilouwho3924 Its because they are old now it happens to all bands. Best era of Depeche mode in my opinion is 1981-1991...Also liked a few songs of faith andDevotion and Ultra Dont really like Exciter or anything afterwards...Ultra was their last good album.
@@TheJamie6666 True. Ultra in my opinion is one of the best dm album. When i heard exciter first, i was kind of shocked and thought, the chapter Depeche Mode has come to an end. But on the other hand some songs on that album are beautifully arranged for the "live in Paris" DVD.

Dave has always seemed so sensible. It really makes one wonder how much he went through during the devotional tour and the few years after. He mentions here it was this repetitive monotony that led to a misplaced focus, but I have to wonder if it had to have been more than that. Perhaps it was simply the drug use? The drugs? It’s difficult to believe drugs can do that to someone so sensible, but I guess it can, especially if under a lot of stress. He also says he was very unhappy at that time. I think long term fans could see that change in him then. Its wonderful that it seems like there’s been a return of Dave, the real Dave. He looks fantastic, at ease and happy here. I hope that has continued for him. I like how in recent footage (momento mori concerts) he seems much more interactive with the audiences at concerts and caring, welcoming even. (This interview is 14 years old when I’m writing this) He looks like he is enjoying it and much more relaxed with his job and more connecting with the people who come to see them. Whatever hell he has been through his recovery and honesty about it is truly beautiful. I’m sure it can reflect very positively on those struggling with similar issues. So cool. ♥
@Dave Gahan I am a total fan from 1997 (albom Ultra). At the moment I am inspired by listening to your solo albums. I am from Belarus, Minsk. I think you know this place :)
