I was fortunate enough to attend this concert at the Rose Bowl. At that time, I thought that there is no way they will ever top this…then along came Violator and the World Violation Tour. Great piece of DM history here. Thanks. The Alan years were the best years for DM.
I feel like I wrote your comment ;) I was at the Rose Bowl too, and then when the Violator Tour came I saw them in NY (best concert of my life) and a second time on the Violator Tour with Nitzer Ebb!! 🖤🖤
Get a load of 15:00 when Alan says, "He thinks we're joking." Oooh, biting. This is like behind the scenes of Behind the Scenes, such a treat. Can't stop staring at Alan. Thank you for uploading this footage.
I was there with my best friend, 8th row center stage on the field. We stood in line at Ticketmaster for 2 days and paid a whopping $90 per ticket at Ticketmaster, which was a lot of money back then and for a 16 year old. It was worth evrything because it was a absolutely amazing show in every way. The supporting acts were so good, OMD, Wire, and Thomas Dolby and the energy of the 60,000 people there was amazing.
@@stevechandler4607 Alan gave 100% and then some, to the band. In an interview, Martin called him a control freak. I no longer listen to any DM music post-Alan.
Thank you Depeche Mode. I really enjoyed this. I was Blessed enough to have been at this show. I laughed when you brought up Perkins Palace as well. What a lovely interview that brought up fond memories. Also mentioning Poor Man from KROQ made me laugh. I modelled with my friend Cheryl Berkoff for KROQ with Poorman on our laps and ping pong pattles. Cheers
Fascinating to see the whole clip. It's obvious Alan was the one they all looked up to judging by him being the designated adult who would do the announcement and Martin's adoring expression every time Alan speaks. For me, this era was the last time when DM were DM. Next, it was the cheesy guitars and the flirting with being a blues rock band which felt a bit like a betrayal to me.
Creo que en este video se observa claramente que alan no soportaba que no los tomaran en serio...en el momento de la entrevista oyó risas y se vé el enfado en su cara.
Hard to believe up to this they were only playing arenas , that changed on the violator tour onwards to present -albeit their last great album was ultra
20:13 I've heard about this, thank you 😊, I may have been too young to remember all this info but ... cool 🆒️ 😎 besides I think remember that version of Route 66 a lot 😀... that's all for now 😀.
Cheers for this incredible upload. If I were to use this press conference for a college presentation on 80s music, how would I reference it, (i.e. broadcast date, network)? Thanks if you can help.
D.A. Pennebaker: “Depeche Mode seemed such an un - do - able film, [but] these four guys, they couldn’t have been nicer. They hadn’t an idea in the world between ‘em, but they’d figured out how to make a lot of money with a tape recorder off - stage. They had one guy, Alan, who’s not even with them anymore, who’s a really good musician. Then they had this incredible genius - from - outer - space, who could write these songs; then they had David! And the other guy. You had to love ‘em, but what kind of film would that make? So we cooked up this funny idea of getting these fans to get on a bus, and … it worked. We couldn’t believe it!” Jonathan Miller. Stripped. I Depeche Mode
Thank you so much for sharing this gem

No words
Alan was just the coolest cat! He was the last missing piece of DM and we'll never forget it.

Alan is so eloquent. Always loved him in those pleated pants outfits ❤️😍… He elevated DM!!!
Alan Wilder is so damn Gorgeous. His hair, his voice, his presence. Miss him badly.

@@sylwiazablockatatara1237 Those were the golden years
They really didn't treat him well
@@stevechandler4607i have the same thoughts.... it's strange that some of them behave like he is excess 🤕🤕 but they're all still so talented though

Thank you. I wish I could have been there. Would love to have David Gahan's jacket!
It’s no wonder these guys kept going for so long. They ran their band like it was a business and had great teamwork.

I love that Dave's daughter is now Stella
@Peruchipac it's funny coincidence how the presenter asked Dave to say hi to someone called Stella, and his Daughters name is now Stella too!

I don't remember the band member on the left. lol
I see Alan is close to Dave rather than with Martin and Andy.
That was then 😢
Depeche before Violator!!🤘🏿💛😋
