- This is the first video of several I will be doing on The Castle over the coming week - as it get's requested a lot and honestly this place is quite a daunting project.
So in this video I will be closing that massive whole in the side, reinforcing the walls and building battlements. And a funky staircase.

I never understood why videos like these get disliked he's building to his preference and you can add whatever you want. If you don't like how he's building for a tutorial settlement then comment ideas to make it better not harsh criticism
Yet another video that leaves me thinking: Someone should do a Kickstarter to get David - The Knockabout a proper Gaming PC, because what on Earth couldn't he do with mods enabled!?
I am absolutely astonished at what you can do with "just" the vanilla building system!
For PC users.. there is a new recent mod released that allows you to fix the castle walls in seconds! Just note you will need to put floors on top of the wall parts to allow AI pathfinding to occur as the modder needs the creation kit to do that. Check nexusmods for it.

Damn. I love your settlement rebuilds. With no mods. Playing without mods has been more fun for me, so I'm glad you do these. Gives me ideas for my own settlements and I learn things!

In addition to the rug glitch (at least on PC), you can also use a shack bridge and fence post to handle junk fence placement on uneven ground. Place the bridge on a clear area, place your junk fence up onto the very end. Then place the fence post on the opposite end of the bridge. Now grab the fence post and the entire construct should enable the junk fence to clip just fine. If you can't recover the bridge, just (on PC) enable clipping, drop beneath the ground and recover it.

I'm sorry, but I stole your scrap shack roof platforms for uneven boards. It was a good idea. my castle looks a little different, I completely blocked up the walls, but I used a little bit of shack foundation to make it look like it was in construction, and they were scaffolds. My gate house, looks a bit like yours, except I have two giant guard towers on each side of the gate. My interior is completely different than yours, although once again the shack foundation paths with the scrap roofs was the approach I took, I just love it. Thanks for this spark of inspiration.

Tip for everyone on PC: To actually USE the little window system he made, download Home Maker and Alternate Settlements. Not only does it add a bunch of new Settlement pieces, it adds a new Guard Post; A Guard Post Rug. You can place it in front of the modified doorways to allow guards to actually look through them. :)

+skuldug1 Yeah, I've been so tired of searching up for some ideas (as a console player so no mods) and finding either really halfassed structures that kind of look like someone's thrown a bunch of buildings at a wall to see what'll stick, or really unrealistic (even if some are very impressive). Of the... many let's builds I've trawled through to try and find something that I might be able to work with, Dave is the only one that I've subscribed to. IMHO, best of all of them.

Love your settlement builds :). Got some ideas for my settlements from yours, I suck at building LOL. Good job as always keep up with the good work!
By the way, don't know if you know this, but I remember you talking about lights/ Spotlights not shining their light after a while even when they are connected. I used to let my OCD run rampant and disconnect reconnect them to pylons every time they did that but I found out using a Switch pylon just flipping it OFF and then back ON it will "reignite" the Spotlights :)
+CloudburnGaming Maybe a slight correction, haven't tested it myself but it atleast works with the Fuse Box Generator from Homeplate where you flick the actual fuse box on and off, but as I see it Switch Pylons should do the trick.
+CloudburnGaming No need all you have to do to is select the spotlight and place them again
charlie walker Then again if you have multiple ones connected to 1 source it would be easier to just flip it off and on without even going into workshop mode

atm there's quite few games i'm playing, so fallout 4 is getting its rest. but as soon as the mods for ps4 are available, i shall return to the wonderful wasteland and build my settlements. and i shall need such videos to help me with the lack of creativity. subscribed!

+Nigel Low 100 radroach sized deathclaws sound terrifying. Though give me enough Psycho Jet and we could sort them out.
Any thoughts on building a giant tower in the center of the Castle? I think it lets you go to about 10 levels.
I might with this one - maybe something enclosing the mast. Hopefully it'll look cool.
have you tried using the staircase in the floor section to line up the cement blocks from top to bottom
attaching the staircase to the edge of the cement block and using it to line the blocks on top of each other

I can't believe you're rebuilding the Castle just for your adoring fans. Thank you so VERY much for all this work.
Yeah, I used laser weapons to clear out a couple of my settlements, and now months later there are still glowing piles of ash here and there. Most annoying, but fortunately they're not in the way. I generally avoid using energy weapons on the... sort of creature that may or may not have been at the Castle, so I didn't have that problem RIGHT here.
Now if only that dead trader would stop respawning in the kitchen at Kingsport, life would be dandy.
For those interested, the Castle is one of the game locations that's closely modeled on the real thing, only somewhat scaled down. You can see it very nicely in Google Earth. goo.gl/maps/dPk2gqceX3J2

norespawns A few locations are like that -- the main building of the above-ground part of the Institute, some of the other historical buildings, etc. Even the bridge into Sanctuary.
I can't get the underneath foundation to cooperate :( and I still cannot find Junk Wall from your other castle videos

If you tinker with the walls enough you can manage to get all the walls perfect, it took me like an hour but my walls look nothing ever happened 😃😃😃😃😃😃

how to fix the castle walls. 1 download DDProductions new mod that adds craftable replacements for the castle walls. 2) snap in new walls.
+TheAciddragon069 Yeah, the only problem is that the stupid settlers don't realize they're there and refuse to walk on them (you can fix them by covering the walls with floor tiles.
+TheAciddragon069 I swear, the Settler AI is the fucking worst. Mine keep running OUTSIDE the fucking walls and dying, even though the entire fucking settlement is surrounded by a huge fucking wall filled with turrets, and the settlers still run outside and do stupid shit.

I don't see the functionality of all this stuff. Instead of put some concrete wall, you fill the entire gap with that foundation. I put some concrete walls, and couple heavy laser turrets, with 4-5 missile turrets, and is perfect for defense.

A quick walk around of my Castle settlement.
Why do you use different fences on the same railing? It makes it look shittier and less professional.
