This also makes sense since Godzilla is a “protector type” Titan, since there are also “destroyer type” Titans like Rodan, Scylla, and Tiamat, etc…who Godzilla keeps in check from disrupting the natural order of things, including balance. There’s also Dr. Serizawa’s statements in both Godzilla (2014) & KOTM. Mothra has nothing to do with any of that.

This could actually be the final Monsterverse movie where Godzilla, who barely made it out against both Hedorah & Destoroyah, sees humanity responsible for their existence and we get a Civil War type movie

My current working theory for why he hasn't attacked humans is because Scyllas and Behemoths respective abilities of cooling the glaciers and healing forests and jungles seem to easily balance out humanity's worst offense to the natural order, Global warming. I also have my own theory or headcannon. He knows that he is keeping balance to humans because of his own destruction whenever he has a big battle with other titans. He would actually speed up the process of making things unbalanced if he did attack humans. When it comes to destroying humanity, mankind is doing a great job of it already.
For global warming, I believe it was stated that Scylla keeps the ice caps cool. We also now have Shimo to do that know that Scylla got boiled by Godzilla.

I always thought he only kept the balance between titans and just couldn’t care less about what anything less than another titan is up to. On top of that the titans can survive in environments that humanity can’t so pollution and all that will be a problem for humanity way before it’s a problem for them
Exactly Godzilla only destroys those jet because he can see them. He can’t see humans unless they’re very close to him and that’s dangerous, he thinks the Jets are little bats or insects that annoy him

It could be that he knows extinction is much of a problem for titans.
I also have my own theory or headcannon. He knows that he is keeping balance to humans because of his own destruction whenever he has a big battle with other titans. Most of the time, those locations are random thus randomly choosing people for the lack of better word to sacrifice in the name of "balance." So the collateral deaths of humans in those battles with titans. Its sort of unbaise because i feel like godzilla doesnt want to choose who dies. He know that he can wipe humanity like its nothing.
Again this is probably far fetch and even if this made sense but i wanted to put my opinions out there too.
From the looks of the end credits in KOTM, lot of the Titans just...waking up has been able to solve a whole lot of problems humanity has been making since...forever, Scylla alone was able to prevent the ice caps frim melting

Godzilla doesn’t think about the little things just the big picture, if a kaiju is causing a barren wasteland planet he will fight to keep the balance but if humans throw trash he doesn’t care because it will decompose eventually.
Bro godzilla is smart enough to know humans make the nuclear power plants making him stronger and also he kinda owes it to the humans they are almost always on his side helping him in his fights

Honest Godzilla could very well wipe us out if he wanted to he was distracted by gidorah and he was properly focused on us even the oxygen destroyer would probably be useless he’d just shoot it or use his emp radius blast thing and keep feeding off our nuclear reactors and other sources.

One reason could be that humanity has what it takes, and has on multiple occasions killed Godzilla, mecha 2 killed him through paralysis, kiyru could have killed him with the sub-zero cannon, but the pilot sparred him, and the atrogon even saved final wars Godzilla, and jr experienced it, so it’s possible this Godzilla is Godzilla jr that saw humanity save his father. Obviously all this happened before legendary Godzilla, but it’s possible they could have been told this by past Godzilla’s so they don’t end up dead. Feel free to debunk this if you want, but it’s the most possible answer.
Imo current legendary could wipe us out, especially if he somehow adapts or destroys all the oxygen destroyers we are producing before we finish them
He is giving humanity a chance, knowing that he is there to keep balance, he is hoping humans will stop destroying the earth. Plus, he had a closed connection with humans in ancient times since humans used to worship him. Another thing is probably Mothra told him not to do so.

Perhaps humans hasn't done the worst yet. If they do then maybe Godzilla will have a very good reason to make his retribution to avenge the nature and then restore it.

I think he does not kill humanity because there are some friends he made in his journey like Serizawa and since Serizawa basically revied him Godzilla probably thinks humanity is not that cruel
