The issue might be with the regulator getting snagged and binding up. Best bet would be to open up the door panel and take a peak inside to see what the issue is.

My driver side window got stuck halfway this week and it's been raining, so thanks to this video, I was able to replace my own regulator and motor and be dry on my way to work today! I am quite thankful for this video.
For owners of a coupe: there are a few differences in which parts come off and which screws are loosened vs. removed, but it is mostly the same process. The section with the window switch comes out instead of the arm under it and there is a screw in the cubby of the armrest that has to be undone before that comes out. Other than that, it was pretty straightforward to figure out the rest.

Very helpful. Great instructions. Not your fault but your video does not account for the fact that prior to me attempting the repair someone had run a sheet metal screw through the regulator to keep the window up until the proper repair could be completed. Once I found the screw and removed it the job went just as your video showed. $60.00 for the parts, couple of hours of my time and some choice cussing but now the window operates as designed. Thanks.

  • @pc6181

Great video showing how to access and replace the regulator.
However, based on my experience, you ALSO HAVE TO FIX THE ROOT CAUSE of the problem that caused the regulator to fail. If not, the new regulator may prematurely fail after one year...
My 97 Civic is over 23 years old. In my case, I additionally had to PARTIALLY REMOVE the rubber window "run channel" (I only removed the left and right "sides" of the channel), CLEAN THE CHANNELS of accumulated dirt (I used cotton swabs soaked in "Goo Gone" but I guess soapy water would work as well).
In addition, it was easy to completely REMOVE THE WINDOW from the door. Once removed, it was important to thoroughly CLEAN THE FRONT AND BACK EDGES of the window.
Finally, I read that the "run channel" should be LUBRICATED WITH SILICONE GREASE. In particular, I read that Honda's Shin-Etsu Silicone Grease, part @-9013 should be used to lubricate the channels. My local Honda dealer price-matched another dealer's price; I paid $18.15 for one tube.
Since I had gone through two regulators, each lasting only about one year, I GENEROUSLY GREASED the channel AND both sides of the window's left and right edges BEFORE REINSTALLING THE WINDOW.
After re-assembly, the window moved up and down without any hesitancy. In comparison, the other windows moved much slower - so, I will do preventive maintenance for the other windows by removing the windows, and thoroughly cleaning the window edges AND run channel. Cleaning removes the accumulated dirt, which allows the window to move freely, and reduces the load on the window regulator motor and assembly. Hopefully, reducing the load on the regulator will prevent the regulator from failing again.

my driver's side power window goes down about half way and then I hear a crunching sound. I can pull up the window slighly, and then the power window will roll back up. if the window rolls all the way down, I can do the same thing: pull up the window slightly and then it power roll all the way back up. Someone said it's the "scissors"?
Also, I've owned the car since 1996 (it's a 1994 civic lx). btw, the only time the windows have rolled up/down quickly is when the battery was wired wrong!

Your videos rock Thank you for them. But I have 04 civic passenger window that rolls down about 3/4 of the way and then seems to bind and stop. Also when the widow seems to bind it pusses the window towards the front of the car. I can roll the window up and down to this point just fine with no noise.
Would this bee a regulator issue or a window channel issue.

My window is stuck in the up position as of today, if i press the button you can hear the engine revs drop slightly as if its drawing power, but the window doesnt budge . in the past it has occasionally made a slight grinding or stuttering noise ~ is that a dud regulator?

My 2004 Civic's rear passenger window became stuck today. I heard no noise or anything when I push the button to make the window go up/ down. What do you think might cause this?

My window had fallen into the door panel on a freezing morning as i was dropping off my gf... i had it wedged with cardboard and i used tape for less than a year bc i couldn’t afford it, all i could do was watch this video. Now I bought a regulator and i installed it this morning and i used this video the whole way. Thank you. 10/9/20

Great video. Saved me from damaging my car. Unfortunately I ordered window Motor assembly for a sedan, not a coupe. Ugh.

Just finished my wife’s window. The longest part was actually those first two screws, being that they are hidden up in the door. Get a screwdriver that’s magnetic to make the process easier. I did it alone in about 45 minutes but with two people, it’ll be much faster. Other than that, very good tutorial.

Thanks for sharing the video. My Honda 2003 driver side window is not coming down. Do you think it's more of a motor issue or the power switch problem. Secondly, if I remove the door panel as shown in this video, how am I going to remove the window since the window is close all the way up. Is there a way to manually lower down the window once the door panel is removed?

Just saw this now. Now your second comment makes more sense haha So anyway, test the switch itself with a digital multi-meter. Pull the harness out of the motor and probe it to see if you have any power going to it from the switch (on the 12V setting). If you don't you know the switch is bad. If you do, but the window won't move then you know the motor is shot. If you can't get the window down, but you know the motor or regulator is shot, you may have to cut the regulator cable and move the window down by hand. This wouldn't be ideal, but it would be ok since you'd be replacing the regulator anyway. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com?RUclips&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393

I replaced the regulator and motor but it still doesn't work. I think there is no power. What should I try next? Is there a way to test the circuit?

It turns out that the master switch on the driver's door was bad. The fact that both windows on the passenger's side didn't work should have been my first clue!
