Sofie! It was the other way round! She was born Japanese and lived in China. After the war when they knew about her origins, she was deported to Japan and never saw China again! I loved your reaction! You couldn’t cry ‘cause you were on camera, but I could, and cried as much as I cried in the other six or seven reactions! It’s so emotional! He is sublime!! We are so lucky to be here when he’s singing! OMG! He’s so amazing! Thanks for the reaction! I love you! 🍃💞🌷💞🍃

Another masterpiece came from the soul of the incomparable Dimash - the pearl of the world's musical elite, which has already become a living legend. This performance, in its Chinese version, with which Dimash touched me strongly, sounds even more tender and emotional in Japanese. With this song the singer touches the most tender strings of our souls.
Dear friends, I will reveal to you a secret related to this musical genius. Dimash has never descended to Earth, there are no any his other rebirths here over the centuries. He descends from the heights of the Divine world at his own will, to elevate the souls of men to new cosmic horizons. When they listen to him, everyone falls into ecstasy, and you see some other cry. Such is the power of his divine energy. Years, centuries, millennia will pass, but ihe will not be forgotten by people. Ordinary people are born all the time. Talented personalities - every 20 years, geniuses - every 100 years, and world Masters - every 2000 years. However, such a musical genius as Dimash does not remember the earthly history of mankind, except perhaps Orpheus, who with his music and songs enchanted people, animals and birds, all nature around him held his breath. Dimash does the same now - we hold our breath when we listen to him. Each of his songs is a masterpiece that he invests in the spiritual treasure of humanity. With his perfect vocal techniques, incredible charisma and soulfulness, a huge range of 6 and more octaves, songs performed in 12 languages and the gift of a composer, Dimash is emerging as the greatest musical genius of all times. May be my words sound loud, but I know what I'm talking about. Time will prove the truth of my words, because I know what Dimash is capable of. He rose as a star of the first magnitude of the world's musical horizon and the brightness of his star not only does not weaken, but increases with the time. With his songs Dimash talks not only to people, but also with dolphins, birds and other representatives of the animal world. Thanks to his presence and great vibrations, everyone feels peaceful, inspired and healed. I have more to tell you about this superman, but I will do so in another comment, under the song Ave Maria.
So dear Sophie, Dimash is not from this planet, even more. It comes from the higher levels of the Divine world where eternal harmony and light reign. That's why he is so powerful for you, me and many other singers, composers, music educators and ordinary people. With the power of the Divine Spirit, manifested through him, this harmony penetrates all of us and elevates us high above the gray everyday life, makes us feel divine. Aum.

I don’t blame you if repeating, I repeat this song I don’t know how many times. And every time I bawl cry can’t explain it didn’t even put any caption on . You can be a singer but just a singer you become an artist when a person convey and delivers the song that shook you to the core. Dimash is a pure artist and deserves all the the credit his vocal range his low and high notes the tones, his technique is out of the world. And to add his charisma, he is so elegant and classy and absolutely beautiful.

The singer / actress you referred to was Yoshiko Yamaguchi, born in 1920 to Japanese parents who had settled in Fushun, China. After she grew up she became a much loved singer and actress under a Chinese stage name Li Hsiang-Ian . After WW2 he real identity was revealed and she was shunned as a Japanese spy. She was arrested and tried but eventually released and deported to Japan. The song Ikanaide is like a song of love and loss. Love for her China, her people, the people she loved, a love forsaken.

Beautiful reaction. They are two versions with the same music but different lyrics. This is the original Japanese version with music and vocal performance by Kogi Tanaki, lyrics by Goro Matsui. the other Autumn Strong version is the Mandarin version. By the way, Dimash has caused a stir in Japan with this his first song in Japanese, which Goro Matsui himself sent him a congratulatory message and said is the most beautiful version he has heard from a non-Japanese artist. Dimash in this interpretation is perfect and it could be said that it seems that she was interpreted by a native Japanese, another last point, the story was the opposite, she was of Japanese origin but she grew up in China and adopted a Chinese name. The lyrics are a metaphor for how someone has to hide her identity. This song refers to how she has to say goodbye to the Chinese name of her. Greetings from Panama

The man who wrote the lyrics for this song, Goro Matsui, heard Dimash sing this song by accident! Can you imagine? He said it was the most beautiful and emotional performance he had ever heard of it, (I am paraphrasing). I believe he told Dimash as well. I really enjoyed your reaction of this song so much! Your honest feelings of delight, of astonishment of how Dimash impressed you in so many ways, was so fun to watch! It enriched my own enjoyment of this song, which I have heard many times! Thank you for your honesty of expression, and for loving this amazing human being as you do! I loved it when you said, "God took extra time on this human". Bravo! 👏👏 For putting what we all feel into such sweet, yet profound words. 🕊🎶❤️🎶🕊.

This was another very enjoyable reaction. This is quickly becoming one if not the favorite Dimash performance for me. Dimash sang “Ikanaide” for the Tokyo Jazz Festival in January of 2021 from what looks like his studio at home. According to several native Japanese speakers Dimash’s pronunciation of the lyrics is nearly flawless. One native speaker, who gave a detailed analysis, stated that he is “expressing Japanese more (better) than Japanese”. Goro Matsui who wrote the lyrics to “Ikanaide” posted on his Twitter account that he has never heard a foreigner sing in Japanese in such a beautiful way.
Tamaki Kōji composed the music and performed the song in 1989. "Ikanaide" became the title song for the Chinese-Japanese TV series “Farewell, Li Xianglan'', filmed that year. It is the story of Yoshiko Yamaguch, a beloved Chinese-born Japanese actress, and singer during World War II, who hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan. Following the war, when the Chinese became aware of her Japanese heritage, she was accused of being a spy and sentenced to death by firing squad for treason and collaboration with the Japanese; she had been involved in the production of Japanese propaganda films. Thanks to the intervention of influential friends she was cleared of all charges but urged to leave China or risk being lynched.
She resettled in Japan where she would continue to enjoy a successful acting career. In the 1950s, she moved her acting career to Hollywood and Broadway under the name Shirley Yamaguchi but returned to Japan in 1959, retiring from acting. She would go on to become a TV presenter and eventually a politician. She did not return to China for nearly 20 years.
In 1990, “Ikanaide” was translated into Cantonese and sung by Jacky Cheung using the same melody. Later, the song was rewritten and translated for Jacky Cheung to Mandarin under the title “Late Autumn”. In 2004 the Taiwanese singer Terry Lin adapted the song into a new version titled "In Deep Autumn", with lyrics written by Daryl Yao.
Dimash chose the 2004 Taiwanese version arranged by Terry Lin with Mandarin lyrics for his performance at the 2017 “I Am A Singer” competition but gave it his own interpretation and titled it "Autumn Strong". This song went on to earn Dimash the "Best Foreign Singer" award during the Golden Melody Award in Hong Kong.
Here are the original lyrics to “Ikanaide”:
Ikanaide (ee-kanaa-eedayy) Please Don't Go Away by Koji Tamaki
    Nothing visible, nothing
    I have been crying throughout
    Not because I feel sorrowful
But because of the delight of feeling your warmth
Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away
Please don't ever ever let us separate
Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away
    Let's remain this way
Someday your heart will be somewhere afar
That everything will turn into memory
Though it's better not to know
Though it's better not to know
Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away
Whenever it is, don't let us separate
Ah… Please don't go away, please don't go away
    Let's remain this way

Hmm everyone has a different take on this story but it appears the lady in question of the Chinese song "Autumn Strong (or Late Autumn)" was actually born in China but was of Japanese descent. She pretended to be Chinese but was eventually found out that she was of Japanese heritage. She was arrested as a spy since she had frequent contact with Japanese from Japan but was found to be innocent of spying and she left China to live in peace in Japan. The original Japanese song "Ikanaide" has different lyrics and (apparently) was not about this actress at all. It was later rewritten in Chinese for a joint Japanese/Chinese tv series docudrama about the Japanese actress. Lots of conflicting stories about these two songs. Most people believe the two songs are the same and/or Autumn Strong was the original song. The composer Koji Tamaki wrote the music and two different lyricists wrote the two different songs. Ikanaide is a much more heartfelt song of begging and desperation for the love to not leave. Autumn Strong was a more restrained sorrowful song. Dimash really does both songs proud and perfectly interprets both songs as they should be sung.

Ikanaide is the original Japanese song; Autumn Strong is the Chinese cover. Japanese composer and singer Koji Tamaki released it in 1989. Then, in 1993, Hongkong singer Jacky Cheung covered it but in Chinese language, under the name Autumn Strong (or Late Autumn). The lyrics meaning was also different. At Singer 2017 show, Dimash covered Autumn Strong in Chinese. Japanese dears wanted him to sing the original Ikanaide, and at last he satisfied their wish.

I'm pleased to see that you love this as much as I do...! Koji Tamaki sang the original in 1989, in fact he still sings it these days in concerts. I see that others have explained how and why the Chinese adopted the song in 1993. Best wishes from an American in Japan.

That's was the most romantic reaction of this song I have ever seen ! The passionate love that you have for Dimash is so beautiful to witness ! I feel every fibre of your feelings for him in this reaction ! Of all Dimash' s performances I feel this is his most intimate ! It's just his voice with no theatrical enhancements , stage props, singers and , orchestra ! It's a vocal masterpiece performed by the master himself ! Thank you for reacting to this ! You are a beautiful soul and a privilege for all of Dimash's dears to behold ! God bless you ! 👍🇨🇦❤️❤️❤️

Спасибо вам за трогательную искреннюю реакцию, даже субтитры, кажется, были за вас - всё было предельно понятно. Ваш тихий и в то же время чувственный голос вызывает доверие.
