  • Hey guys! This week’s video is ALL about how I made my medical school list when applying to medical school this cycle. If you don’t already know my story, this was my second time applying to medical school and I made some MAJOR mistakes the first time that I share with you guys so you can avoid making the same mistakes! I show you multiple examples using the MSAR to explain what I looked at to determine if a school was going to go on my list or not. At the end of the video we’ll look at my complete school list of 28 schools and ALL the results!

    Why didn't you finish the secondaries of UW, OHSU, Loma Linda?
    Curious because those are schools I'm interested in

    Does MSAR let you know if a school has pass/fail classes or rankings?
    Thank you!

      That's a good question! I don't believe it does, but I wish it did! I always had to do some serious digging to find that info out lol

    How far in advance did you research all the schools you applied to? Do the stats for each school in MSARs change much each year?

    • @itslifebymaggie
      @itslifebymaggie  3 года назад +4

      I'm not sure how much they change year to year. As far as how far in advance, I actually did it around the end of June/early July. I applied without my MCAT score initially bc I didn't take it until June 19th so after I got the MCAT out of the way is when I did all my research and narrowed down my list. I just applied to one school when AMCAS was open for submissions to get my app verified. You can go back in later and add more schools!

    Hi Maggie! I graduated with a very low science and math GPA (science below 3.0). I got into a competitive Master's in Anatomy program to increase my GPA (starting this fall and its 32 credits) and also have a chance to do research. Are there any recommendations you'd give to applying in my situation (applying 2022-2023 cycle). Also I am a medical assistant for over two and half years so I do have clinical experience. Any input would be wonderful thanks!

      That is awesome! Doing well in your masters program will help you wonders. Just apply early and cast a wide net when the time comes! Your research and medical assistant experience will definitely help a lot as well! Also, if you don't already know about Dr. Gray, check out his channel for tons of tips on telling your story and writing a good personal statement and all that good stuff!

    Did you apply for the scholarship at vermont or did they just offer you?

    • @itslifebymaggie
      @itslifebymaggie  3 года назад +1

      I didn't have to apply, they just offered it to me. It depends on the school whether you have to apply or not and if there is an application, they will let you know during interviews and/or after you are accepted!
