    It's a miracle that Kurt is still alive and kicking, the dude is super human, especially considering how effed up he was during 2006-2013, his work was indistinguishable from before his drug problem was severe, that's part of why I think Kurt Angle was the greatest wrestler to ever live.

      10 years in any industry can be just exhausting and lead to all types of addictions. They look great back in the day, but when they retire and the body doesn't work like it used to, you take any medication you can to keep making that paycheck. It'll destroy anyone, especially with spinal injuries. Props to all of these women and men who put their lives on the line in the ring.

    I'm sooooooooo happy that Kurt got some help. He's definitely one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life. Quick story. I bumped into him at the Amusement park here in Pittsburgh. He gave my son daughter autographs... At that moment he wasn't noticed by the fans. Maybe a minute later he was flooded. I felt so bad for him because he was with Karen, their family and some friends. He stood there for at least 20 minutes signing autographs. Every kid got an autograph. I was definitely amazed... Even more amazed now because it was the Summer of 06 and after hearing his story I wouldn't be shocked if he was battling those pills hard that day. He was very quiet but very very very polite. My kids love Kurt. My daughter's not a wrestling fan but she appreciated him doing that for and them kids.

    What's also sad is how little TNA and other companies have learned. TNA went on to have the Jeff Hardy incident who was then hired again by WWE and AEW. I get that people can rehab but the wrestling lifestyle seems far too much even for recovered folk.

      Nature of the beast. No wrestler is ever at 100% physically. They're all battling some kind of ache or pain or injury and most work that way. Sometimes they need to alleviate that pain. I don't knock them for it. It is what it is.

    Yeah as a huge Kurt Angle fan this TNA period was hard to watch
    He got skinny, pale, looked like he was in pain, had a glazed look in his eye and his opponents weren't allowed to fight back.
    Whille he had some great matches, his average match quality plummeted
    I legit thought he was going to die or have some kind of drug related breakdown
    So pleased he pulled through it

    • @DevoJetBoy8680

      @@DevoJetBoy8680 lol nothing he ever did in TNA matched what he did with Benoit, Mysterio, Undertaker, Rock, HBK, Eddie, Austin, Edge.
      Joe and Styles were the closest he ever came but they were the minority. His average match quality plummeted, his average promos plummeted, his weight plummeted, he was frequently nearly passing out in the ring, so sweaty and pale. You're forgetting what he was like week by week and only remembering the highlights.
      Dutch even talks about it here, constantly being unconcious or drugged up 24/7, his opponents not being allowed to fight back for a decent chunk of his run.
      It was really hard to watch at the time. He was in a massive downward spirial. Dutch is 100% right, WWE let him go because his health was awful and he was refusing drug rehab.

    • @UnderTheShadowOfHisWings
      @UnderTheShadowOfHisWings 2 года назад

      @jamie.. that is true. However, the body becomes immune to the pills, too. I had surgery on my foot last year. I had about 5 days of Oxycodone and I still had pretty bad pain on the 5th day. Being around addicts and being in recovery (alcohol) myself, I knew it wasn't wise to ask for more. But, I agree with you.. the addict wants to drug. Why take Ibuprofen when Oxys are available (addict mindset).
