Hard disagree. Games like 64 player conquest got old really quick. Who tf wants to run from A to B and back then to C over and over in huge maps? Plus, Overpowered tanks, overpowered jets/helis. Just made the game so boring. Look at the stats for tank and jet/heli mains on BF games. RIDICULOUS K/D numbers. The game can't be balanced in these OG game mode types. BR will at least bring in some gun heavy gameplay without the inherently overpowered vehicles.

@@Khaade.Because it’s EA and they’re out of touch. They shut down BC and BC2 servers a couple months ago despite them having a loyal and consistent player base. My prediction is that BF3 and BF4 servers will shut down in a couple years. At the latest 2030 even though they will still have plenty of people playing these games.

While Criterion is most well-known for their work on NFS and Burnout, they also acted as a support studio plenty of times before, both on Battlefield and Battlefront. Don't underestimate or mock them - just wait for first official news and keep it cool and cautious.

EA is pure comedy gold. You simply cannot make these stories up. At least they are already letting us know to avoid the next game. :D
As someone who works in Software as a SWE, any time a director leaves and a new one takes over, a whole new vision is implemented. This leaves behind a ton of technical debt since now the developers need to go back and basically redo everything that's already been done. You can pretty much expect at this point the game will either be delayed significantly or be a complete bust of a game. Sure it was just a studio around the game's campaign but this will have a ripple effect as other employees will now fear for their jobs.

We saw the decline with Battlefield 5. The obvious state of the franchise was solidified with 2042. Battlefield ain't Battlefield anymore its a storefront fortnite 2.0 with lesser maps, more store content, and battle passes. That Battlefield franchise, and EA as a whole is incompetent ass.

When I first read the headlines "Battlefield game studio shut down" I was panicking. After I realized it's the studio responsible for the singleplayer campaign, I was unphased tbh. There are plenty of BF singleplayer campaigns I enjoyed (e.g. Bad Company 2), but let's be honest, who cares about a Battlefield singleplayer as long as they are not capable of developing a proper multiplayer game? For all I care, fix the multiplayer and if they accomplish that we can maybe think about a new singleplayer.
Don't get me wrong, organizational changes are often a bad sign, but maybe, MAYBE this time EA is finally doing the right thing and focusing on the important things.
There is already an excuse for them to make the next Battlefield game shitty. God damn it.
EA sensed that Enders needed content and created drama. Kidding aside, my expectations for the next Battlefield is so low right now.

I think he left because he knew the layoffs were coming. I think EA wanted to keep him and move him wherever they moved the story after the layoffs and thought he’d just be okay with it.
AAA is just dying. Investments into their live services are just too big vs the profits they make (or dont) because people have finally started to wake up. I think that's why they're so in shambles right now, because they literally have no idea what to do now that their live service cash cow suddenly fell over and died on them.

I think Marcus knew the layoffs were coming, but EA wanted to do the layoffs, and move him to wherever they moved the story. They probably thought he’d go along with it. When he decided to leave, they had to scramble to find how to replace him.

They could make an extract game like no other if they really wanted to they have all the tools. I would love a BF like that using the Cycle frontier template/progression. and gameplay.

Actually, as far as i read about it somewhere, Marcus decided to leave when he learned that the studio was being shutdown, refused to be drafted to either criterium or dice la (ripple effect) and so he resigned and left the company alltogether but to be able to free himself from it without any fuss signed a clause, meaning it seems that now he cant work at any studio, for i am not sure, 1 year at least? i will thank if anyone can correct me on this, was it 1 year?

My voice probable won't be heard among the screams of panicking community right now, but I'll try - EA is not the only big player axing their games and studios in recent months. Is it normal? Absolutely not, but instead of pushing a "PANIC" button, I suggest everyone to just sort things out so we know what we're on about. DICE remains untouched by layoffs. Same story with Ripple Effect, maybe except the fact that some devs from Ridgeline will join them now. Criterion keeps being mocked out by BF community for virtually no reason whatsoever - yes, they're mostly known from their work on Burnout and NFS, but they also have a fairly big experience as a support team on other projects, including Battlefield and Battlefront.
Yes, the whole situation looks bad, but it's not JUST EA - layoffs are happening everywhere right now. Besides, we still don't know what this game is going to be like - we don't even have a single screenshot. All we're sure about is that it will contain campaign, multiplayer and "new experience", whatever that it.

No panic here. Maybe the studio was a waste of money. There is layoffs everywhere in the industry. The pandemic created a bubble that shoudnt have existed so maybe its just back to normal. Oct 2025. Thats plenty of time. I think it’s way too soon to panic. I really do believe they want to make it right. They know what’s a stake. I just hope they deliver. Don’t really care about BR or single player but if they are good it will bring some positive freshair to the franchise. If not., well… i might panic

The way all this went down makes me think this was some Hail Mary business tactic like "If you leave Marcus we're going to kill everything, at all hinges on your dumb idea" and then he left and EA just has a conniption and kills a bunch of stuff that would have been really great for them
For some reason, I dont think Battlefield is going to be here much longer as a franchise. I can just feel it. I believe Embark Studios or another studio will eventually create a Military FPS that is just like Battlefield, but under a different name.

Man, if they just made a new battlefield similar to BC2, I'd be ecstatic. None of this operator bs. Keep the old formula of Assault, Medic, Support, Recon and keep guns specific to that class. You dont need 100 different guns altogether. Just give each class like 5 or 6 guns to choose from and send it. Bad Company 2 was imo the best and i feel that formula is exactly what i think of when i hear "Battlefield"
Considering i havent had fun in a Battlefield game since BF4 i lost hope for them years ago and don't ever expect them to make another good title.
The fact we have to wait 2 years for potentially a decent battlefield game is crazy. to me the last full on great battlefield game was 4, before that was bad company 2, after 3 when they tried to copy COD it bit by bit went down, as soon as they went woke in BF1 I knew something bad was gonna happen in V and remember saying to myself after that I bet BF6 is like apex legends, then 2042 came out and I've not picked it up in over a year now.
I've played every BF title till the very next one came out , EVERY time since bad company 2 btw they completely dropped the ball with 2042 and I have no faith in the next one, unless its a remaster of bad company 2 and BF4 maps with some extras thrown in.
This changes nothing as far as my expectations for the next game are concerned. Because my expectations are so low that I can just calmly nod while hearing all these news.
We have their recent history of failure, their obsession with chasing fads from other FPS that they implement poorly, their refusal to take a lot of our feedback about what the game lacks and EA's hate of third party servers (which are the lifeblood of BF3 and BF4).
How on earth can one have high expectations from something like that?!

At this point I'm just in the wait and see mode as well. Since Battlefield 1, Battlefield has just quickly lost it's identity. They've just been more concerned with chasing trends to harvest cash rather than concentrating on making good games. I think it just goes to show that corporate greed and making great games rarely intersect.
If they pull up a bf3 type game with new engine and great graphics without too many pay to win dlc and hardcore battlefield game mode on release with a campaign? Brah ill buy it.

About Redoing the game that had to be released 10 years ago, 64 players, 4 classes it will be something that will not impress the audience at a degree to be a success.
Every game that is a success in history have always been those that include "never seen before" technology and gameplay mechanics. They should do everything more spectacular and with expanded game mechanics.
- My suggestions 128 players is the new standar.
- It must have more classes ( Officer, Soldier, Medic, Sniper, Machine Gunner, Engineer, Explosives Specialist, Tankist, Plane Pilot, Helicopter Pilot, )
- Squads should be of 8 players instead of 4.
So redoing the PS3/ Xbox360 Battlefield 3 now it is going to be another failure.
Also, I will never ever buy a game that don't allows me to rent my own server and ban cheaters on sight. (they can keep still playing the game, but not in my server)
Having Replays of every match should be welcome as Halo Infinite Does.

I don't think br will fix all the issues battlefield has, their first priority is to make a good battlefield game, then work on br separately if needed. The community has been needing a good bf game since bf1.

Taking Need For Speed Devs to work on a Battlefield game, people leaving, the game is quote "ambitious", a Battle Royal, and studios getting shut down.
