Which rifle sling should should you buy? There are lots of great rifle slings on the market. In this series we will take a look at 6 different companies to give an honest assessment of pros and cons of some of the most popular slings. This episode features Sly Tactical, a company that we were prior unfamiliar with, and have become giant fans of. We also feature the Ferro Concepts Slingster, a sling that has become very popular of the past several years. We hope you get some value out of this series as we tackle a piece of mission critical gear.

Didn't wait to see part 3. Ordered the Sly Tactical padded dedicated 2-point sling. Only got 1 QD and have a standard snap hook for the front. With the discount was only $73. But, it is a custom sling based on my measurements, weapon, etc! Great value in my opinion. Just shipped today! Can't wait to get it! Great review gentlemen and thank you!

You’ve really become an excellent channel. I don’t even have any long guns except a 1301 tactical shotgun, and yet I enjoy everything you do, I feel like I learn a lot with each video. I’ve almost had my gun license a year, collected 10 handguns (3 are 1911), and look forward to everything you produce. I’m in Massachusetts, so we are a pretty locked down state, but still I learn something useful, even though I can’t own everything you can own. All my best and thank you. I have no strong feelings either way about ChicFilA

Food for thought: Quite a few folks use their ARs to hunt with, myself included. A metal on metal snap hook may not give you away in a combat environment, but it can in a hunting environment. I normally have to wrap tape around any metal on metal places to mitigate that noise.

I have 3 Ferro Concepts Slingster padded and have converted over to Tier 1 Citizen 2-point bungee sling to keep lightweight and simple.

Y’all should do a review on Mclean USA Corp’s Dynamic Retention Sling. I heard you mention you wish the sling converted from a 2 point to a 1 point. And their sling does that magically. I’m debating buying it myself. Would be a cool vid! I think y’all would be impressed

Running a sly tactical tr1 sling made by veterans specifically for a veteran. You can run a Magpul paraclip in the Qd mount on the forearm for the snap hook, works great and is a little cheaper.

I currently have a bungee chord I hooked through an mlock slot and the qd mount just as good can’t tell me otherwise.

Big problem I have with the Haley strategic sling is it’s damn near unusable adjustments. I have to brace the gun and use full force to get it adjusted.
The Slytac sling is so smooth but solid at the same time
So interesting because i though I was the odd man out on the Haley adjustments. Love Haley products but that sling is tough for me
6:45 to prevent that sling from hanging up on your sidearm like that, you go into what looks like a sidearm draw, instead, slide your thumb under the sling, and all the way down, grasping the sling closest to the mount as possible. You'll be able to present that rifle so much faster.

Thanks for these reviews. I ran a VTAC sling on deployment in 2012 and I’ve been using a Haley Strategic in the past few years as a civilian. I love those slings but I’ve been wanting to change it up to a pull forward for retention type. It’s nice to know the options that are out there on the market. Great reviews I’ll see what I can get my hands on.
Not just saying this for personal gain but the Sly you can definitely get. They make them all to order
When your sling is just starting to cut off circulation to look down the sights, you got a nice stable standalone platform 👍 if you want to give the sly 2to1 capability, you can always just add a blue force gear burnsed socket adapter 😉

Good evaluations. Having used both (used Ferro Concepts more) I believe the Ferro Concepts Slingster is better. Both are good but I like the Slingster better.
As a 90s soldier the sling was for carrying the rifle in the chow line. There was no other authorized use.
Literally just got the Ferro concepts sling and had the same feelings... which is what prompted me to look up some other reviews. It also felt like the nylon and plastics on the sling were surprisingly cheap. Also in Utah btw.

I’m I crazy or do all slings function this same way? When you slide the buckle down towards the rifle muzzle, it tightens to the body. When you slide it away then you get looser sling??? I haven’t tried every sling out there but the Magpul, blue force, and flatline fiber all function this same way. I didn’t realize there where ones that do it opposite.

the sly is looking dope. I'm actually not a huge fan of a qd up front either. the sling gets twisted and then those sliding manipulations on that type of sling isn't very smooth.
also lefty and i dig the krebs extendo selector. do you ever over shoot the safty stop though? happens every now and again on my gat.
Man you're right a Hk hook or something besides a QD would work better on the forward part of a rifle I never thought about having like a qd in the but and a Hk hook on the handguard
If you're a lefty the Sly stuff in a no brainer. You feel my pain haha. And yea the snap hooks are quickly growing on me

If you are running a b5 or a similar option, it’s actually what we prefer in the rear. Bottom line is just call us and tell us about your needs, we can look at your weapon and help you get set up. Sly Tactical actually does offer multicam slings now. Check out the TR-1 & TR-2 designed by Tactical Rifleman. Those are legit. Magpul makes mlok hook points too. That's what I use.

The slider on the Slingster quick adjust scratched the shit out of my rifle when I had the sling stowed against it.

Sly tactical looks way more intuitive than the slingster. I like slingster but hate the side how it backs out like you said. It’s a lot quicker than blue force which isn’t as smooth. The sky tactical seems like it is the best of both worlds and it slides in the direction you would think it naturally should. For people just stuck on slingster TheMusaStore always has them and even some of the rarer patterns. I just picked up a m81 camo from there a couple weeks ago. Wish I knew about sly tactical then. I would have gave them a shot. Definitely on my next one

You guys miss out on one of the best, look into Edgar Sherman Designs ESD sling. Like the perfect version between minimalist and ferro concept's slingster.
@Ryan I have both. Both are great, the ESD is better though in alot of ways.
The metal slider on the Slingster scratched the shit out of my rifle when I had the sling stowed against it.

I’ve seen guys down range do all sorts of things, but I will say this, not all of them are equal. Are we expensive, yup. I can say without question the decision to use all American components, materials, and have former end users do our manufacturing (in ca of all places) makes us more expensive. We’re not for everybody, but the level of customization, customer service, and quality hopefully makes up for it. We’re the only company I know of where former professionals are actually building these things. It might not matter to everyone, but, for guys that have to risk it all doing DA hits or no knock warrants, it’s good to know somebody that knows lives depend on your kit is actually putting it together. We will never be vtac or Magpul. If you want a custom piece of kit with a lifetime warranty, built and designed by professionals, I’d love to have you give us a try. If not, all good! @Nicholas Rodriguez anytime man! I’d love to see you give one a shot one day. It’s hard to quantify, but I guarantee if you pick one up you’ll just get it. I was an end user myself, so I don’t get hyped on kit, it’s just a tool. That being said, not all tools are equal. If you buy one and actually think the t-Rex is better, I’ll literally refund you and you can keep the sling.

I wonder if sly has changed to a lower tier nylon. I just checked their site and they have patterned slings now. I believe it's a different nylon because they suggest a break in period.
Yes and no. They offer both. If you really want multi cam they have the nylon that accepts patterns. If you order solid colors it’s still the class 1 nylon
The savy sniper sling on my galil is great 2 to 1 easy adjustment but uncomfortable after a few hours. The sling that came with my sig 516 is super comfortable but not easy to use thats why im watching these videos I'm liking the sly tactical

Chik Fil A is mediocre, at best. My first time ever watching a video on this channel, and I already have my favorite dude. Then again, the other dude is not only a wrong-hander, but also a goddamn GINGER!!! That made it an easy decision. I haven't seen that before, doesn't mean it doesn't happen though
If you were thinking about doing this, I would recommend a QCS with a QD rear lead. You can do a snaphook with thumbtab front, get the front sling adapter, run the rear QD to a radian type QD endplate, and be able to convert no issues.

Is there any way you can review the Tasmanian Tactical sling? I recently got one to use while I wait for Blue force to get more stock in (they were showing out of stock when I purchased) and it seems like a pretty decent cheap sling, it has the adjustment, defiantly not as smooth, but a decent sling in my opinion.
