  • Small arms training in the Swiss Army was significantly revamped starting 1997, with the introduction of the "Neue Gefechtsschiesstechnik / "Nouvelle technique de tir au combat"). Spearheaded by Army officer Alain Baeriswyl and many others, and inspired by the efforts of influential trainers like Chuck Taylor, the idea was to create a new school of standardized, rationalized doctrine for arms handling. Thanks to the NGST/NTTC program, safety and efficiency were drastically increased, and continues to be applied and improved on today.
This video series on the Sturmgewehr 90, dated 2001, is one of the earlier NGST/NTTC training material in video form. Viewers that have served recently can note that many practices shown in the film have been modified or outright deleted.
Part 2 shows the "level 2" training that is taught to all combat troops. Level 3 and 4 to come!

Got trained on the stgw57 and in 1992 we retrained on the stgw90.
As a head chef in the company I was gutted as before 1990 all head chefs (corporals) got the Sig220 pistol.
My father was a Fourier so I grew up shooting his Sig210 and grandfathers Bern made 1906 Luger. He was a Hauptmann in the artillery 1939-45.
      Thank you for the flashback!

One thing I'm not quite sure is: at 5:58 , the soldier is indeed crawling away from his firing position where he has fired. That's exactly the opposite of what the subtitles or the narrative meant.

Posting this here, but can you do a video on what it is that makes Swiss GP11 such a quality cartridge compared to its counterparts? Or even a video specifically on the stg 510's peculiar bolt head roller design and ejector, possibly covering why the swiss design seems like the rolls royce of roller delays.

A bit worrying they specify "index finger" (instead of finger in general as it traditionally is in English) in the safety rules. With conscripts you can be sure *someone* is going to keep their middle in there in response.

0:15 boot flaps backwards (regulations specify inside flap on top)

1:43 throws a loaded gun like????

    1:59 what’s a sling for anyway?

    2:01 🅱oint at 🅱enis

    4:38 who’s holding the camera?
4:40 don’t forget to grip your muzzle???

also at 11:39 he doesn’t say “range clear” he says “daher!” Equivalent to gather round

Dear Dale. Thank you so much for uploading. I always enjoy the content you upload. I would like to kindly ask, does the SIG SG 550 come with a 30 round magazine, for use in the Swiss Army? I always found it interesting to see the Swiss Army use only 20 round magazines, while there has been 30 round magazines used with the PE 90 rifle. Any thoughts you may have on this would be greatly appreciated.

The 20-round magazine is the standard-issue model since it allowed a lower shooter silhouette. The 30-round magazine was sold commercially, of course.

Once you are a soldier trained in your army you know what to do, but do you know what the enemy will do?
It would be good if you could anticipate his actions.
