I painted this dresser eight months ago and it will not sell. I decided to repaint this painted dresser pink and the color I chose was way brighter than I expected. In the end this furniture makeover turned out great and I cant wait to see it in someone else's home.

The most popular question: Did it sell? The short answer is no, but it hasn't been for sale. I've been working on finishing my website and wanted to have this and a few other pieces for my online store. The website is live today and the dresser is now for sale. You can check for yourself to see what price I am selling it at and if it has sold. thatshabbyguy.com/ Thanks for watching!
Dude, Barbiecore has been the HOT thing all summer, ur crazy not to jump on that lol
What's amazing is that I am not a fan of anything pink and yet you made me a believer.
It looks beautiful.
Oh I entertained many offers but they weren't willing to pay what I'm asking. The right person will come along soon.
Notice this video hit well before the Barbie movie came out so I've been on the hype wagon for a bit. Little known fact: I make most of my money from video views, not furniture sales. 😉

Hey there Shabby Guy!
I watched your vids for your new teeth.
I flew over the handlebars of a bike when I was little and got most of my front teeth knocked out when I hit the curb.
My teeth have always been problematic since then.
I totally understand that feeling of insecurity about your smile/teeth.
Thanks so much for the videos.
It answered a lot of questions for me.
I want to look into it further (price, time, pain level) thanks to you.
Keep making these videos with your furniture.
You have a gift for picking the perfect finish/colors for your pieces.
Have a great one.
Remember to SMILE!
😃😃😃😃😃😃
@@misterjokertoker5797same thing happened to me when I was young. I was going down a steep hill got scared hit the brakes and flew off hit the pavement lost my 2 front teeth. What a nightmare!
I can imagine this dresser in a boutique clothing store, with the top drawers open holding draped merchandise. Displays on the top too. This could be pretty in the right setting. You do nice work!
Thank you!
I love it.
Nice!!
Yes, with doilies and lace table runners!
My daughters room is pink with white crown molding and white carpeting but even a pink ceiling. We actually have this dresser piece with the gold accents but in stark white. We love it. Because the walls aren’t neutral we have lots of white from a whole wall of white bookcases, and we actually have the matching bed and night stand to this. The person who refinished it originally wanted to go with the rustic look that’s popular, but we wanted it to look modern rococo. You now made it look modern rococo. It’s almost creepy that this video popped up literally right after I had ours refinished and it’s still in my Front hall. I haven’t been looking up videos on how to refinish. But now I am wondering what year the furniture originally was from. It’s my childhood furniture that my grandma got used. I’d love it in the hot pink, I was even tempted to go hot pink with the furniture to contrast with the pale pink walls, but instead we just chose some hot pink and gold accents. I feel like I sound like I’m spoiling her, it’s just her personality to care, I have three boys who could care less what their stuff is like and it shows. The motif in their room is snuck candy bar wrappers and snuck empty soda bottles 😂 😭
The color really works for the style of dresser. Someone's going to have a lifetime of fun with this sturdy old well made piece. I can see it being used throughout a girl's life and taking it with her when she has a place of her own. Imagine green plants, and sparkly crystal necklaces... and maybe a lace wedding dress, and her own baby girl to pass it down to. Imagining is fun. This dresser inspires imagination. Good luck.
I really like all the details you imagined for this. I can tell you have fun with it.
This is so reminiscent of Old Hollywood Glam. I can see a Marilyn Monroe vibe in this. Someone who loves hot pink and black satin will go ape over this. Just awesome.
You mean a brothel haha.
I lived in Pasadena when I got a dresser like this in the 80s
It was second hand
So probably dates back to the 1970s
My thought exactly.
That was a pretty brave choice of color! Would you please update us about the sale. Excellent job, as usual!
I agree
Goth?? No. A little girl’s room
Barbie pink is not in my life.
Before and after are both bad choices.
@@waterislife5109 Perfect for an 8 year old with a Barbie obsession.
All those curves were screaming "DIVA"! Excellent call, looks amazing! So glad you looked at this as an OPPORTUNITY for a do-over. Thanks for sharing 💖
I love it. Has a definite Barbie vibe which should be popular right now 💖
I was thinking that too.
If anyone asked me if I liked this color, I would have called it hideous... but I can't believe how stunning the end result is.
True!
Gorgeous. Somebody will snatch that up. Very nice
My granddaughter would LOVE THIS DRESSER..a princesses dream😊
I think the gold is the key to making this PINK dresser work! Great job, any little girl would be thrilled with this princess dresser!!❤
I'm a granny and I love it! Would make me feel like a princess.
Besides appealing to Barbie fans this is a Disney Princess lovers dream. I never would have thought to use gold with pink. But it works. Great job!
Love the way it turned out! What a transformation, that gold detailing is everything!
Thanks so much! 😊
I used to dread having to redo pieces that aren't selling but now I see it as a chance to do something different. I am absolutely not a pink person lol but you smashed this pepto dresser
Please, please let someone else choose the color/colors next time. Glad you are having fun.
Let someone else choose my colors? You must be new around these here parts.
@@ThatShabbyGuy I am new, just found you. I must say you're daring.
The bright gold hardware makes the piece. It’s amazing how you transformed it. Some young lady who likes frou frou will want it.
I would love it… I’m 68…😊
I love it and you don’t have to be a little girl to want a pink dresser.
How about black next time and gold or silver?
Lol absolutely. I am 65 and my bedroom is mostly in pink. It has a Paris theme. I would totally put that dresser in my room.
@@lydiaviera1593 Me too!
I am definitely a pink lover; I would gladly use it for myself.
I'm confident this caught the right buyer's eye & was absolute perfection for a barbie princess. The gold detailing was beautiful & icing on the piece.
At first I thought, what the heck? But you were absolutely right. That design is made for a little girl's princess room and can even be used in a bigger girl's room. It turned out so beautiful. Hope it finds a happy home soon.
Pink is not my thing, but after seeing the finished product, I think it looks great. Every little girly girl will thank you for this. And actually, I really like it too!
Initially, I didn't think pepto pink was a good choice of color, but the finished product was beautiful👌 I especially liked the gold embellishments.
It is actually “Shocking Pink” first introduced by fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli. Great job! 💕
Not quite that shade, Elsa's pink was more rose toned- bright, but not this! Imo 💗
This looks to be a true bubble gum pink or as the the creator said 'pepto bismo'.
I like the dresser but not either of the color choices.
With 'Barbie the movie' coming out, I predict it'll help stir up interest. Don't you think?
@@poorthinginteresting idea. People do love to buy products based on what's being promoted in the main stream. Yes, the movie coming out could get people in that line of thinking
Not a pink fan, but somehow it works on this dresser. For a little girl's room, it's perfect. Hope it sells quickly. 👏👍✨
Love it! Your paint sprayer is the bomb! You look like a Spray Ninja when you’re using it. Sweet
Sell it to Paris😅 she's a fan of pink
This is BOLD and Beautiful! I am sure it will sell right away! This bubblegum color with the gold details gives this French style dresser credit! Thanks so much for sharing
I can see this dresser in a beautiful walk in closet with all of the matching gold hangers/closet storage and accessories. Some beautiful jewelry displays on top of it and the main splash of color in the room. Love it ❤
Love the colour. Having said that, I think a softer pink would have a larger audience of buyers. It turned out great.
Couldn't stop laughing at the Barbie dresser but it grew on me. Someone's gonna love it.
This turned out beautiful, the gold trim really elevated it. It's gorgeous!
Some little princess will beg to have that in her room. I love it.
more curious now if the pink makes it sell faster
Absolutely luv the colour ,,
I'd have that in my bedroom with wardrobe and bedside tables to match
And a beautiful chandelier for the ceiling ..... ❤🇬🇧
I’m in my late fifties and wow! This is what we call a Power Pink. 😊 I can see this piece in a girl’s room of all ages and in an executive’s office. This is Stunning!
I know what you mean when you let it set for a few days because of the color. I myself ordered an emerald green sofa, and the box sat on my porch for several days because I was too afraid to open it, worried that the shade would be very bad. I’m super happy.❤
Oh no! It was so, so beautiful the first time. I can't believe none wanted it!!
I have a dresser identical to your but I’m doing a botanical green , No gold your painting techniques are great . Thank you
I painted one just like that in a barely off white for my granddaughters room which was pale lemon shade with blue accents. I had picked up a pretty 4-poster bed earlier. She was about 8 yrs old and was all into the room makeover shows at the time. I stopped by one day and the posts on the 4-poster bed had been sawed off. There's no telling what her mom let her do to that dresser I took such pains to paint. =D
A little girl somewhere would LOVE this in her room ❤
I adore me a good pink and gold combo. My bathroom was pink, gold, and marble until a pipe burst and now it’s had to be gutted.
I would add that to my house. So luxurious looking.
Awh came out beautiful I❤️ it good job 👍 🥰✌️
Pink is my favorite color. I love it!
I love the bubble gum Pink! It could also remind people of a beautiful🌸pink flower. In a Girls room it would look stunning. Maybe even in the Living room, for people that love color in their life.
I would love to have this in the salon I work in.
You can never go wrong with pink and gold. So pretty!
Both my 7 year old grand daughters love this!!
It’s so pretty! The gold accents make it look so special! Nice job!
Thank you! 😊
I have this exact same dresser. It was purchased by my parents in the 1950s. I had it professionally refinished in the green color - like a lighter shade of olive green - and it's in my kitchen now. It holds linens and wine stoppers and a junk drawer. I LOVE this piece and I think the Barbie pink is beautiful.
That came out absolutely gorgeous!! 👏👏🩷🩷🩷
It was beautiful before and in pink and gold is even more beautiful! You always do such a magnificent job when you paint the pieces ! It is just perfect!
Looks like a prop from a Disney movie! Love it! See that million dollar smile of yours is still hitting its mark!
Absolutely love 💗 it pink
Beautiful, just like a Barbie type dresser. I love it!
I Wish you Sell it Quickly🌸
I love the before, the cream and sage.
I, too, thought you were nuts when that first coat went on. But, that gold elevated this piece. Gorgeous, Grady. I’m sure it’s sold already.
Beautiful job, I am sure there is a little girl who is going to love this for many years.
This turned out great! It belongs in the room of a true Diva! 😂 Love it! ❤
I also have a granddaughter who would love this..👍👏🏻♥️
Some of my most popular and fastest selling pieces were the neon colors. I did one little hot pink night stand figuring it would be a 'one and done' ... and ended up getting five commissions (10 pieces) from that one post, all in funky colors. They were some of the most fun jobs I've done, too.
A night stand and a 12 drawer dresser are two different pieces of furniture. Did your night stand had the antique look to it?
Some little girl will want that dresser. It's totally coooooool!
I don't understand why people are think this is only for girls. Perfect for a grown woman. I like it.
Perfect princess dresser for a little girl.
I totally LOOOOOOVE this! It's gorgeous! But then, I'm a person with a huge eggplant purple leather sofa and double chair along with a pair of MacKenzie-Childs tuffets! LOL! You really did an amazing job here. It was so much fun watching this video and seeing an amazing blossoming of that drab little dresser! 😍
I bought a dresser exactly like this painted a sunflower yellow. I love it, and the pink is pretty also.
One of my favorite furniture styles. I had some pieces as a teen. Love the finish.
Some little girl is going to love that dresser.
I LOVE how this turned out. Great choice! Pink and gold is everything, you executed this so well! NICE! ✨🥂🤩
The gold is a perfect touch. 👍
Both versions were really pretty, but you were right, in the first version the top was much lighter than the drawers. The pink is really pretty & I think it should sell quite well. I'd have liked to see a similar dresser or Armoire painted Chinese Red with black & old gold overlay accents. Then put Chinese Style Hardware on! I bet THAT would sell well too. You're quite Talented! Any guy can learn to paint furniture, but you have a Talent for Real DESIGN. Continue to work at it & follow up with Videos on RUclips, one day soon you'll have built quite a Reputation for yourself! ⭐😊🌷
This was my dresser when I was a little girl. I had this and the French provincial canopy bed, with pink bedding to match. Seven year old me approves this makeover.
A little princess will love this for her room ❤ I like it a lot :)
Some little girl will love that dresser.
Pink is perfect for this style dresser. Love it. I have a 7 drawer dresser like this from the 70’s. Use it store crafts, but I may do this in the future.
Sounds great!
Just in time for the Barbie movie! Some little girl is going to love this.
You are very talented! This turned out amazing!
Now it matches everything in my room!! My family said my room reminds them of Baskin Robbins Ice Cream parlor! I love it!!
I like what you did the first job
Because it's a fairly elegant piece, I could see it royal blue and gold, and being in a classic old house
It's stunning! Great choice of color! Beautiful piece. It will sell in a minute.
I think so too!
I have not watched the whole video yet, so I look forward to what the outcome is. I can understand why it did not sell originally I was kind of man, although I love the style of the dresser.
Barbie movie is a big hit ..This is so neat looking..young people would love this..I actually liked the creme and sage too..I like the inside wood too
Barbie pink is in right now because of the movie. I would suggest doing a matching Vanity and selling it as a set. Perfect for a little girl to a young woman. Maybe a night stand as well.
Now thats a better color. It's beautiful!😊
This was EXCELLENT! It's left me begging to see a furniture transfer on it! ❤
I like the pink and I am not a pink person. But this will be perfect for someone who wants a bold, pop of color. The gold accents are perfect!
Perfect for Barbie summer!
Wow, that is pink alright, but just as others have said, it's perfect for a child's room! Love that sprayer - it must save you loads of time and the finish is so smoth...no brush or roller marks.
I love it. I could see it used as a sofa table.
Much better than what it looked like before. I'd say there's a much better chance of selling it since that Barbie movie is coming out. Also there's a lot of adults and children that like Barbie and bubblegum pink 😁
This piece would have looked amazing in a super dark green blue colour with the gold
My she shed rocks this pink, so big girls love this color too! Awesome job and a bold pick, I expect it will sell quick!
My granddaughter would love it!
This is certainly a statement piece! I love the end result and now I am envisioning every bold color I can think of on that same piece with a gold accent… you just cannot go wrong with a nice finish in any color!
Perfect for Barbie 's Dreamhouse!
I was skeptical of your color choice, but I love the result. Beautiful job!
Unlike most of the people here, I LOVE pink, the brighter, the better! And I’m 67!
Nice job!
BEAUTIFUL JOB! You’ve given me an idea for my own dresser. Thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love it! Pink is my favorite color! It just makes me happy! 🩷
I really do like the pink and gold combo, but the first thing I would have done is to change the drawer pulls. I know that you made them gold, like the accent, but this would have totally changed the look from vintage to modern. I really believe that the pulls is why the chest of drawers didn’t sell. But this very well might be something that is very desirable since you painted it pink and gold. Best of luck selling this and I hope it sells quickly for you!!!
Simply gorgeous
Love this! You do such wonderful furniture makeovers 😎
Thank you!! 😊
I refinished an old solid wood dresser I found on the street Barbie Pink, I too called it the "Pepto Bismol" dresser! I put diamond studded pulls on it (Amazon) and it shined beautifully. I kept it in the living room for about a month and sold it yesterday. I admit I really admired that dresser and hated to see it go!
Yeah, people like more modern styles now and the ornate style isn’t as desirable but it turned out so beautiful absolutely stunning someone’s gonna love it it just has to wait for the right person.
pretty pink for the makeup collectors a cute vanity
