thing i noticed with ironjar buff is the gravity boulder attack will all hit, so it's still pretty risky, but i see you bonked him through, and he didn't cycle through to that attack XD
cause bayle is a jank ass fight all things considered. lock on is forced to his head which is hard to hit with many weapons, and isn't left vulnerable very much. his damage is super high for his placement in the DLC, his AOE's are semi fair but hard to read at times, his line breath can actually teleport into your hit box when you are running from it.
This is precisely why i alway have 6 armaments equipped simultaneously which all require at least 20 points in each different stat and they all do like 100 damage each... i like variety, ok?
The 3 builds I've used to beat him so far: -dual curved sword endure spam NG0 -carian thrusting shield+scholar's armament NG+7 -pest threads+scarlet aonia NG+2

News flash, not everyone uses a million buffs before entering a boss fog on top of stacking as much armour as possible, both of which did allow you the braindead strategy of just bonking, and even then probably took some time because you were still dying. There definitely are builds that are more difficult to manage, the game is as hard as you make it to be.
What else do you expect them to do when half the mechanics in the game are tied to dexterity and every now and then they just change what should have been a str weapon to dex for fun

The thing about savage lions claw is that you need to land all hits in order for you to deal more stance damage compared to lions claw Completing at least 1 cycle of SLC will take up half or even most of your FP compared to normal LC So mathematically the stance damage per second is kinda better with LC than SLC… don’t forget SLC takes more stamina as well

I used Giant Crusher with Savage Claw on my second DLC run and it was a breeze although it was a pain in the ass to hit Bayle sometimes

To be fair the "strength build" isn't doing much here, it's all the items/buffs before the fight that's allowing this man to tank like this.

The hammer has lions claw as its default R2, you should change the Ash of War to Royal Knights Resolve and THEN you will see some good DAMAGE.
Yes, but it’s slower and consumes more stamina, and you have to fully charge the R2 to deal the most poise damage with it

I did this with my INT build. Iron Jar with Carian Sovregin on Knight's GS. It was very honest.
