- Took a day trip from Koloa to Kauai's West Coast in September 2022. This video highlights my experiences of some of the more off-the-beaten-path places visited.
Kalepa Ridge Trail is a beautiful hike off the side of Kalalau Lookout. It can be considered dangerous, so be smart and careful!
Polihale Beach is an isolated beach on the West Coast of Kauai. It requires some dirt roads to get there so 4WD is recommended.
If the sign says to not go in, you respect it and don’t go in…🙄
You get a better view of valley going pass the main lookout to end where Pihea trail starts, aloha
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
Can you expand on this? Do you mean start at Kaulalau lookout you walk to Pihea? Heading there soon!
The "well-defined" trail is bc DLNR/DOFAW/DOCARE (all Government) recently put in a new fence line & obviously access it for maintenance & checking that invasive species are regulated, etc.
It's still "illegal", but people hike it at their own risk, as it's not a sanctioned Nā Ala Hele trail.
Interesting. Thank you for the info!
It's a really, really cool place. I'm so jealous of you two!! I really want to visit once. Thanks for sharing a really good video.
Thank you! It was definitely a highlight of our time in Kauai!
kalepa is on the east side.
For your next trip, Polihale is pronounced Poli-ha-lay. 😊
Yes thank you! It felt wrong as I was saying it lol. Didn't feel very Hawaiian!
