I've been really worried about this lately. After about four months of growth I started noticing a lot more beard hairs falling out. I'm a bit over eight months in now and probably only notice about a dozen max a day, so this makes me feel better! Thanks Beard Baron!
I've been growing my beard for about 10 years now; I'm 23 now. I can't imagine how many hairs I've lost but using beard products has helped to keep hold of those hairs for longer.
I was worried for a second, every morning when I apply beard oil and comb I notice that I loose about 20 - 30 beard hairs and I was getting worried. Now knowing that it's normal it takes a load off, after about 4 - 6 months of growth my beard starts to thin out at the end and so I do a trim so that everything looks normal but I tend to take off 2 - 3 inches of beard.
glasssOfOJ I didnt say anything like that, read again my comment, ... I have to shave my beard every day because it looks patchy for 2 or 3 months, after a few months my beard starts growing again, then this cycle repeats again, ... I have visited dermatatologyst and they use to tell me that I have telogen effluvium.
Dude, sorry I missed your comment. I'd suggest if your mustache is getting patchy and falling out I'd go with a chin strap beard. It all depends on how you grow and where and then trim your beard to fit it. My problem is in my chin area. Those hairs only grow to about 4-6 inches while the rest continue to grow so it looks like I have a center part in my beard. So I've been trimming it so that the sides shape up with my chin and everything flows correctly. Hairs have a terminal length and so they'll only grow so long and then after time fall out. So go with the cycles and trim to fit your growth. Have a good diet with a decent amount of protein and take a Biotin supplement and a good multivitamin and that'll help growth. Also stress... it will make your hair fall out as they say, so try (keyword is try) to keep your life chill. And lastly, in a way it all comes down to genes, you will have it or you wont. My buddy only grows on his chin and his mustache, but it's thin so it doesn't work. Then again some people have a skin condition where they won't be able to fully grow a beard. It's unfortunate but it happens. But, I've actually seen it where in some people, their beard doesn't start to come in fully until they're a bit older, I'd say about 40+ years. As for the beard transplants and all that other madness out there, I'd stay away from it. I mean, if you get a transplant, aside from the cost, will it last? Will it grow normally? and so on. I'd suggest to stay way from all that madness, but if you want to go with it then it's your call. In all honesty, do what makes you happy, the hell with the haters. Hopefully in your next life you'll have a beard as glorious as the Baron's.
I had the same problem losing alot of hair using beard oils and balms from mouintaneer brand. I started seeing that i was thinning so i shaved and started over. It's been 5 months no products and i swear i maybe saw 5 hairs fall out. My beard is so thick now. All i use is mane and tail shampoo that's it
I am only growing a mustache, so when we lose 2 or 3 in the process of styling I feel like they need to hold a funeral for each fallen comrade. It sucks. But a ton of good info in a short video here. Thanks.
You know when I move to live in Africa my beards almost never pull out even if I use force....but as soon as I come back to the UK they start falling out soo easily
After about 5 days I start to notice more hairs coming loose... I then use organic plant based shampoo ( vegan shampoo bar bought off ebay) and I wash my beard, a few hairs fall out during washing, but for the next several days my beards stops shedding.
But my concern is that my new hair is falling out, not the long ones that have been there for a year. All the beard hair that has fallen out recently is only from the past month.
What's your thoughts on beard coloring? The hairs under my bottom lip are a little lighter (then the rest of my beard) and would like to darken them up so it looks a little fuller. Thanks and keep up the awesome videos.
I wash mine using the tips of my finger rubbing very gentle and let it dry by itself and then apply redwood beard oil. But I really hate to see falling beard on the daily basis.

I was just going to ask you about this actually. Thanks for the video. I lost about 6-8 a day. Usually after I take a brush to it, if I only go with a comb it's like 3-4 a day.
This was a much needed video. I have a question: is it safe to comb after toweling off and applying Beard Baron premium oil. I use the recommended Kent rake. Yesterday I was having dinner with my girlfriend in a restaurant. I blew my nose and snot went all in my mustache. Very messy, very embarrassing. Any tips?
I tend to comb/beard oil brush my beard 3-4 times a day and I usually lose around 12 a day that I notice. I'm guessing this is a safe amount? Also, I'm at a year of growth now and I'm worried I'm getting that split in the middle. I wanna grow it longer, but do you think I have just reached my beard length limit? Thanks for making videos and have a great day.
some hairs come out after i oil and comb.. but thats about it. i look for split ends and cut also. keeps the bottom from getting crunchy imo. the more you pull and tug and twist, the more split ends you get
The Beard Baron I was just wondering if I should use a brush to spread beard oil through. Not sure if it will be bad for the brush or be really hard to clean etc.

Another question, especially since you're a guy living in Boston with this year's record weather. Do you think hair loss is affected by weather and temperature? Are we more likely to lose hair as spring approaches and to gain a lot of it back in late fall?
Stephen Buell There is definitely a life cycle that is effected by seasons. I notice my growth slows during the winter and grows the fastest during the summer. It's quite possible that I lose more hairs this time of year than others.
Hi Beard Baron, I have been growing my beard for almost a month now and it's coming along quite well. I have a good beard growth but a thin mustache(small area over the lip) and I'm wondering if you have any tips on a mustache "style" that works with that? I have had a beard before but always kept my mustache trimmed to the upper edge of my upper lip but I dont really like it that way. Thanks and I love your vids btw!
Terihan What you could do is try growing out the sides of the mustache and see if you can get some length and curls if you're looking to spice things up.
thanks so much for the video! I just noticed few hairs on my sink after applying bead oil and then one more after lunch and did not notice this before so got frighten as this is my first beard. Beard on my friends!
Great question! losing 2-3 beard hairs is nothing to worry about! If you're consistently losing A LOT of hairs then you should switch up your beard routine!
I've been using a very hard and strong moustache wax recently, it works great as I have a rather unruly moustache and I'm growing it out with my beard. But recently I've noticed I'm getting at least a few hairs comming away from it while applying it, almost every time and now I'm starting to worry. Im constantly checking to see if it feels thinner and I'm not sure if I've done too much damage and i should just shave and start again.

Also a question about ur mustache... tried to grow them long as urs but each time I drink from a cup there's plenty of it on them and it drops on my clothes/table, HOW do u manage drinking or eating soup with big mustache as urs?
Hey! Love your videos been watching for a while and I have a quick question. I have quite a thin moustache and I was wondering if there is any way of thickening it? Thanks.
Hi Sam, my beard is about that length and the combs/brushes I carry on my website are all that I use. Here is the link: thebeardbaron.com/collections/beard-care
hey men thank you for this video i was very worried. i just have a question, does your hair have this white bulb when they fall out ? sorry for my english i m french.
Andy Forlando Those small lumps can be split ends or kinks in the hair which will make it feel odd. Some hairs are also thicker and others which will make them be a bit more stiff.
The only thing I can think of is that he used a bad beard product. Some companies will charge less than those considered "Premium" such as Beard Baron and Beardbrand by putting artificial products in that are harmful for beards. The extra money you pay is worth it in my opinion as I've only used certified natural ingredient beard oils in my beard. No problems with extreme hair loss.
I loose at least one hair daily when I comb it. What needs to be done? I pat dry and then comb it after applying beard conditioner. Does the beard need to be completely dry before combing it?
My beard is shedding gool just said u lose 75 to 100 every day crazy they grow lay dormant then fall out perfect normal crazy man but put my mind at rest 😊
Hello The Beard Baron Cancersurvivor here! After my treatment I decided i wanted to grow a massive beard and hair, eventually it went that way. I was traveling India for 6months and let my beard grow. It turned out amazing!!! But suddenly somewhere along the way I started to lose volume and eventually lost my long beard... Beard thinned out and i shaved it :( I saw that i actually had developed bold spots on the lower cheek jaw, and under my chin? Did i lose it due to weather changes in India, moist, cold, warm, altitude? Hormonal imbalances? I saw diagnosed low T and have started TRT? I am extremely healthy and just seems wierd why my beard would grow massivly and then suddenly shed and have stunted growth??? Is it due to bactaria, yeast infeciton??? This is a part of my personality, and i really want it grow it agian! please help I have a video of my beard growth, travel and recovery on my channel... your welcome to check out
HealthOman It could have been a number of the things you have mentioned. I would try growing it out again and see how it reacts. Also, make sure that you're not picking at or pulling at your beard which can create bald spots, the jaw area is a notorious area for that kind of activity.
How do you deal with a beard that grows in all directions? On my cheeks it grows towards the ground, on my throat it grows to the right and same on my jawline on the right. But on the left it goes downwards normally.
I had the same problem, I would use a boar bristle brush once and day, then I'd add beard balm then comb it in the direction I wanted it to go. And id use beard oil every other day in the late evening and then comb it in. I had to let it grow for about two months while doing this. Now it's so much better, I still follow about the same routine but I mostly use beard oil now. Watch all of the beard barons videos and you will learn how to maintain a more healthy beard. I also have the beard wash and mustache wax... which is awesome.
yunus1338 As everyone else mentioned, with added length the hairs will start to straighten out in position. The in-between phase is the awkward phase and it's just a mater of time.
The Beard Baron Thanks. I started combing my beard too and I'm also starting to use beard oil. It's been only 2 days I added these simple changes but I already see a difference.
i donno, i go through my beard (which is really not thick) with my brush once and i have at least one or two dozen in there. i only stroke my beard, and have 1-2 hairs in my hand (not picking, just a really light brush). also i got hole on one side of the face. frankly at an age of 24 i dont think its ever gonna get thicker and fuller, so im thinking about giving up ;( . but i soooo want a beeeeard. how am i ever gonna be a man ;(((((((((( ?!?!
I genuinly needed this re-assurement

Any tips on a gentle way to dry my beard? It can get quite corse and brittle feeling at times, even if i use oil.

sorry for my english i m french.
that's the root of the hair... in polish we call it the onion of the hair if that's makes any sense to you. Beard on my friends!
Thanks man .. i was worrying about it. But thanks to you for this video. 😁😁😎.
my beard is falling while i use face wash is it normal fall or not?
hey
Thanks man!
I have some small lumps in the tips of my beard hairs and some hairs seem stiffer. I was wondering what may cause this and if it's normal.
Andy Forlando Those small lumps can be split ends or kinks in the hair which will make it feel odd. Some hairs are also thicker and others which will make them be a bit more stiff.
My dad used a beard oil and said that after about two months it made it fall off sort of a lot
Would you happen to have any suggestions as why this happened?
The only thing I can think of is that he used a bad beard product. Some companies will charge less than those considered "Premium" such as Beard Baron and Beardbrand by putting artificial products in that are harmful for beards. The extra money you pay is worth it in my opinion as I've only used certified natural ingredient beard oils in my beard. No problems with extreme hair loss.
I loose at least one hair daily when I comb it. What needs to be done?
I pat dry and then comb it after applying beard conditioner. Does the beard need to be completely dry before combing it?
***** Thanks
iPartyHardcore You definitely have no worries at all my friend!
How do I dry my beard if not with a towel? I'm scared the blowdryer heat will damage it...
Esteban Cueto Keenan You can use a towel but pat dry your beard with it instead of rubbing it.
And afterwards, if it is still wet or damp, let it air/drip dry, I comb mine out while it is still wet to help get the bulk of the water out.
The Beard Baron Thanks Baron! Feels a lot better! :)
Tyor'zaln the Eternal I comb with the wet beard too! It's a lot smoother and you don't pull on the hairs so much
My beard is shedding gool just said u lose 75 to 100 every day crazy they grow lay dormant then fall out perfect normal crazy man but put my mind at rest 😊
Hello The Beard Baron
Cancersurvivor here!
This is a part of my personality, and i really want it grow it agian! please help
I have a video of my beard growth, travel and recovery on my channel... your welcome to check out
HealthOman It could have been a number of the things you have mentioned. I would try growing it out again and see how it reacts. Also, make sure that you're not picking at or pulling at your beard which can create bald spots, the jaw area is a notorious area for that kind of activity.
Thanks for the answer! i defently miss my beard.. seeing doc tomorrow to see if it is fungus or anything in that sense. Anyways stay bearded
How long is your beard dude? If it's long enough, it will start to straighten out due to the weight of the hairs.
josh stover Thanks man, will try out what you advised. ChrisATW It's not super long right now, it's only around 2 and a half to 3 months old.
yunus1338 As everyone else mentioned, with added length the hairs will start to straighten out in position. The in-between phase is the awkward phase and it's just a mater of time.
The Beard Baron Thanks. I started combing my beard too and I'm also starting to use beard oil. It's been only 2 days I added these simple changes but I already see a difference.
Have you had any experience with all of these wooden combs?
Gentleman Jim Wooden combs are nice, just be sure that they are polished with no sharp edges.
i donno, i go through my beard (which is really not thick) with my brush once and i have at least one or two dozen in there. i only stroke my beard, and have 1-2 hairs in my hand (not picking, just a really light brush). also i got hole on one side of the face. frankly at an age of 24 i dont think its ever gonna get thicker and fuller, so im thinking about giving up ;( . but i soooo want a beeeeard. how am i ever gonna be a man ;(((((((((( ?!?!
@TheBeardBaron thanks for the help and reassurment brother great video
