- Join us on a scenic day trip to Askola and Pukkila, where we explore historical sites, enjoy delicious food, and take in beautiful countryside views. Our main destination was the stunning Askolan Hiidenkirnut, but we made several delightful stops along the way.
We took a day trip to Askola and Pukkila, with our main destination being the Askolan Hiidenkirnut. Along the way, we stopped in Askola at the yard of Johannes Linnakoski's childhood home, a local author's house that now functions as a museum. Our journey continued to Pukkila's Pizza Kebab Grill for a meal, and then we traveled to the Naarkoski dam, and from there, proceeded to the Askolan Hiidenkirnut. The route included sections of motorway and ring roads, as well as very beautiful rural landscapes with rolling fields and narrow, winding country roads. Our return trip followed a different route, again showcasing charming countryside scenery.
Enjoy the video and get inspired for your next adventure in the beautiful Finnish countryside!

Yes, they are naturally formed and shaped in Finland. Giant’s kettles, or potholes, were created during the Ice Age by the meltwater from glaciers spinning a large stone or stones, called grinding stones or whirlpool stones, in place, which carved fairly symmetrical and smooth-edged holes into the bedrock.
