At 40, it’s not too late to study for a new profession. Perhaps experience in banking could be beneficial when starting your own business. You would have a better understanding of finance, billing, accounting, and the value of money. Maybe there has been customer service and sales experience as well. These skills can also be useful in studies, potentially allowing you to get credits towards a new degree. On the other hand, the banking sector is surely hectic and can feel like a rat race. For some, it might be a joy and a blessing to use their creativity in the skills of a pastry chef or baker.

However, you can apply directly to a university for a Master's degree from a university of applied sciences. You might have to take additional complementary studies when applying for or starting a Master's degree at a university.

@@harish6133 As of April 2024, Indian nurses have still been recruited directly from India. There might have been a misunderstanding. To my knowledge, Finland is eager to hire Indian nurses. India's population is enormous compared to Finland's, and the arrival of nurses from India wouldn't jeopardize India's healthcare system. Finns probably don't use the "agency" you mentioned.

You cannot obtain a residence permit for language studies. A residence permit can only be granted for pursuing a degree at all levels of education, including vocational and higher education.

There certainly are some opportunities, but very few for English speakers. I recommend contacting the school directly and asking if they have partnerships with companies where you could potentially apply for part-time work while studying. On the other hand, these English-language programs were initiated specifically to attract skilled labor to the companies in these cities. Additionally, the cost of living is significantly lower than in larger cities. Rent and transportation costs are much cheaper, and you can get everywhere by walking or biking. Just 2 km from the city center, you're already deep in the forest.

I don’t know exactly how the salaries are in Åland. I would assume they are roughly the same as on the mainland of Finland. A cleaner’s salary varies depending on the tasks, but I would estimate it to be around 1800-2400 euros for basic duties. A student can work an average of 30 hours per week.

@user-ie8eo6go1c Do you speak Swedish? In Åland, studies are in Swedish. Immigration matters in Åland are also handled by the Finnish Immigration Service. The right to study must be applied for from the same place as on the mainland of Finland. Finnish law applies in Åland with a few exceptions. For instance, the only official language is Swedish, and Finnish is spoken very little or almost not at all. Only a few percent of the population speak Finnish, and they also know Swedish. My video from Hanko is from mainland Finland, not Åland. There are also Swedish-speaking areas on the mainland, but they are usually bilingual.

Studying might be better in Finland since, as far as I know, university and University of Applied Sciences tuition fees are more affordable. When it comes to job hunting, probably Sweden. It’s a larger country with a bigger economy, and the salaries might be slightly better. Finding seasonal work is likely easier in Finnish Lapland than in Sweden.
