I don’t believe I’ve heard this military/national anthem before. It was composed after WWI, commemorating Italy’s participation in that war. I find it interesting how the composer included Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” theme from the 9th Symphony-the string section at 2:38. There’s a number of other musical nods to other great classical works throughout the piece. It was a good choice for this video (being the Italian National Anthem at the time) but I had no idea that is was so interesting musically. It’s not derivative, but it foreshadows post-modernism with its musical references to the past.
As we all watch RUclips videos, and there are sarcastic comments about any music added... This has to get full credit for the most outlandish, operatic Italian must be an acquired tast... Nicely Done jmantime !
