    La cosa preoccupante è l'ignoranza storica espressa dagli anglo americani nei commenti. Parlano tanto che noi italiani abbimo fatto pena in guerra: I francesi? I polacchi? I rumeni? I bulgari? Loro sono stati tutti eroi indiscussi? Non mi pare proprio. L'Italia in armamenti era pari forse alla Spagna Franchista eppure abbiamo resistito per tre anni. I Francesi dopo mezzo mese si sono arresi, però loro sono perdonabili.

    Half of these people dont know shit about the Italian weapons of ww2. Have you guys even heard of these weapons?Semovente 47/32 · Semovente M41 75/18 · Semovente 75/34 · Semovente 75/46 · Semovente M41M 90/53 and the Italian 90mm anti aircraft gun used as a anti tank weapon. and even their weak medium tanks fought well.

    • @ceratosaurus4511
      @ceratosaurus4511 8 лет назад +1

      +joey8062 semovente 47/32:out-dated. semovente da 75/18: out-dated, due to the fact you would have to be 500mm close to say, a sherman, or a churchill. by then you would be (maybe) spotted. semovente da 75/34: service was minimal, so unknown. semovente 75/46: that tank destroyer was never used in service you idiot. semovente 90/53 and the 90 mm was just the gun mounted on the chasis. overall, a weak argument.

      @buzzardflight1 8 лет назад +3

      +the ww2 love and parody maker some 75/46 semovente did enter (German) service between 1943-45 in Italy, there's photo evidence of it. 75/18 could and did kill Grant and Sherman tanks at normal combat ranges with AP and HESH/HEAT rounds, although of course it could be rather easily smashed by their 75mm guns.

      Very true. Attacking a Matilda, with any of your tanks, in the first 3 years in North Africa was a great way to die or surrender. You didn't even succeed against the Free French at Bir Hacheim, they knocked out loads of the tanks you sent in. And in the Battle of the Cauldron, my dad's Regiment, the 4th Royal Horse Artillery, equipped with the 25-pounder field gun/howitzer, (87.6mm), wiped out 2/3rds of the Afrika Korps and over half of the remaining Italian tanks. I have to admit they were brave, although they had no chance at all, they kept coming in again and again.

      Nebukadnezarthe2nd Lol so incult since the begining !!! First of all, the 44m tas of whom your talking about and of which came out only one prototype was destroyed ! To bad for you. And no, The P26/40 (not the P40) was not hoplessy outclassed since the Italians based themselves on a captured T-34 that was sent to Rome for study and of which came out the P26/40, a tank that mounted a 75 mm gun, that had sloped armour with hardened steel plates and a speed of about 40 km/h. Before the armistice in 1943, 21 came out of the production lines and about a hundred and more would be produced until 1945. Lol so much for your pathetic hungarian exemple (I think not ;)) But the italians had also the Semovente series which most of them were carrying since 1942 a 75 mm anti-tank gun, others had a 90 mm gun and after that came the Semovente 105/25 carrying a 105 mm gun ! As for medium tanks, since 1940, the Italians started with the M13/40 which had a 47 mm bolher gun that could pierce 45-50 mm of steel within 500 m and had a diesel engine which was allowing the tank to have a better range than its German friends or the british... At that time, the M13/40 was the equal of the Panzer III and if it came to be outclassed (not obsolete though) it could still keep up and have a good chance to knock out other tanks like at Bir El Gobi in 1941 when the british 22nd armoured division was completely destroyed. Italians had nothing to envy to their German friends, axis or allied ennemies in tank expertise

    Man Italians do know how to design tanks and it's camouflage but sadly, they were poor in Armour or quality otherwise those tanks probably way more better than T-34 or M4 Shermans

    Interesting video! Clearly the Italians and Japanese both had a hard time leaving the armor of the first WW. Both perceived armor as infantry support weapons, ( in fairness as did the British and French ), with ugly box like structures, no slope to the armor, poorly configured one man turrets, and totally inadequate armor and firepower. The British put them to abject route in1940.

    Mussolini non era una stratega militare, con strategie militari migliori forse l'Italia avrebbe resistito un po' di più anche se non so fino a quanto sarebbe servito. L'Egitto andava attaccato con molte più forze militari ma prima bisognava sgomberare l'africa orientale, indifendibile, e poi occupare Malta. Con Malta fuori gioco gli inglesi nel Mediterraneo non avrebbero avuto la supremazia. Prima bisognava occuparsi degli inglesi nel Mediterraneo e in Egitto e poi si attaccava la Grecia con molti più uomini, molti più cannoni e aerei e in una stagione migliore.

Anyway i read accounts of italian tank crew which went to battle knowing exactely that every other tank would have destroyed them with a single hit. And they could not give damage to almost any tank with their poor guns. Very crappy outdated tanks, as shown in northern Africa where they had to deal with massive amount of enemy tanks with no tanks (all destroyed) and simply some hand made anti tank bomb... placing those bombs on enemy tanks with almost suicidal missions. Poor guys.

      TheLoyalOfficer nah Italy has been underestimated by allied propaganda. Even if it lacked tanks and it was not ready for war it was not that bad if you consider that fought for years against Russians and allied forces even with victories while France was conquered by Germans alone, with inferior numbers and tanks, In a matter of days. Same allied generals admired the bravery of Italian soldiers. Italian elite units like Alpin troops were among the best of ww2 and actually sacrificed themselves to let Germans retreat in Russia. The fact they had some poor equipment unsuitable for extreme hot or cold where they fought does not mean they were the worst. But Compared to Germans yeah they were inferior.
