I don't hate it, but the problem with arranging the lineup that way is it means 20 fewer plate appearances for Smith over the course of the season. So the trade-off is breaking up the strikeouts but getting fewer ABs for the better hitter.
Common Snider. Thats a lazy take "well Dodgers didn't win the Diamondbacks series bc they didn't hit". No shit, lol. But why didnt they hit? Playoffs are a different beast. Its going to be played diffrent. Pitchers are going to try and step it up, concentrate more than a regular season game that means nothing. So if pitchers step it up we know runs are going to be a premium. Teams that can manufacture runs are going to succeed in the playoffs. You could go cold in the power department but still score a run using small ball. Dodgers dont have that option. They go cold and its pretty much over. And playing small ball or at least practicing it for when you do need it brings an "aggressive " mentality. Thats why we look like we have no energy out there. We dont want to take risk like taking the extra base, stealing third, bunting or at minimum, pretending to bunt bc analytics says we shouldn't do it. We are getting bounced again bc of our style of play that works regular season when theres no pressure but fails miserably in the post season
Thanks for watching! I think if it was as easy to shut down a good offense as the pitchers just "try and step it up," pitchers would try and step it up more often. The playoffs aren't exactly the same beast as the regular season, but I don't believe they're as different as you think. When the Dodgers won the World Series in 2020, they did it by hitting. They won Game 7 of the NLCS that year because Kiké and Belli homered. They won Game 6 of the World Series because they got key hits in key situations. The Dodgers are just fine at the parts of "small ball" that actually work. They're pretty good baserunners. They get their fair share of sac flies. But productive hits will always be better than productive outs, and the teams that win the World Series generally do so because they got productive HITS in October.
I feel like Chris Taylor has gotten injured so many times that his swing needs to be adjusted. Similar to how beli changed the swing and did good with the Cubs.
I know it’s early, REALLY early. But ima tell ya, this is just simply not a World Series team. You don’t have the pitching right now. If good hitting would get you there, you’d still come short. Solid Pitching is what wins games. You can’t win the World Series in April, but you can lose it in April.

Ridiculous what you said on the podcast today. Ohtani is leading entire baseball in batting average and is ranked top 3 in baseball in SLG and OPS and you say his swing is horrible? GTFOH. He was the best hitter in baseball in the last 3 seasons combined and you come with this embarrassing take? Have some fn respect. You probably never played professional baseball in your life yet you are saying Ohtani's swing sucks? Learn baseball dude. Oh....your counter argument will probably be: "he gets paid a record contract and is struggling with runners in scoring position." Its only been three weeks into the season bro. Ohtani in the last 3 years has been one of the best hitters with runners on.....its going to average out in the end. And you're the only person i've ever heard complain about a person getting on base way too much. You rather he be getting out every at bat like the 6-9 hitters? Come on bro.
Can you give me a timestamp for when you incorrectly think we said all that stuff? I'd love to hear what words actually came out of our mouths that you took so negatively towards Ohtani.

My brain couldn't decide between break out and bounce back, but yeah, maybe a Freudian slip.
