    As a casual player it took a couple years for me to convince myself investing $160+ on a controller was a good idea. I had problems from day 1 and the rear triggers completely took a shit a month after the warranty expired. Good on you for giving an honest review, I get so tired of seeing sponsored streamers brag about Scuf's quality when I know they're lying out their asses.

    This guy looks like he's really rough on his controller. melting the frickin stick off in two weeks? I've had a scuf for years, YEARS! Almost 4 years. And throughout the time Ive had it, none of these issues happened to me. I play games regularly everyday too. The only problem I had was slight stick drift. But honestly all you have to do is clean it. Takes 2 minutes tops. This guy man, his controller looks like it's been through hell, and beat up. You can't just melt of the stick material in a few weeks. thats bs. Ive only been through 1 stick. it was my left analog after 2 years.... Please dont listen too this guy. Scuf makes a great controller and if you play everyday it is soooo beneficial, and its well worth the price. It just bothers me when I see these people talking bad about a company and he probably hasn't even properly cleaned it yet. I get that it can be annoying for such an expensive controller, just to have to clean it, but I mean really. It does only take about 2 minutes. And you only have to clean it about once(ONCE) every 6 months to a year. The only catch with scuf controllers is the fact that people don't properly use them. To get a stick to stick to the side like this guy's, you have to throw it or smash it on the ground. And your thumb isnt that hot to melt the material on the sticks, thats just bs. Like I said I did have that problem but they sale literal 8-10 thumbsticks on the website for around 5 bucks. Its a great material for gaming, because it's a softer plastic than any other controller but thats why it wears a little easier. And 10 thumbsticks(5 for each analog stick) will easily last you your entire gaming time. Like I said I bought thumbstick replacements with my controller because they were so cheap, and Ive only worn out 1. And ngl I was spamming it all the time because I play stick and move cod. You can imagine how often you jump in cod so there you go. And lastly scuf just makes everything better than every other brand out there. The though that they have put into their products is insane, and really I think that if you take at least some care of your shit, scuf controllers will last years just like mine. I put some thought into it, and was going to try and make a video but It wouldn't get very much attention at all so just take something away from reading this comment then. And ps, Digital triggers are amazing for anyone who wants to try them. I will say that they are the best addition to any controller ever.

    I feel like most of you guys reviewing this controller are way too rough on them. If your sticks are getting turned and pushed hard enough to rub the rubber off you’re probably going a little too hard. These things are responsive, the harder you jam left/right/up/down doesn’t make you aim quicker or turn harder/faster. And you act like that because this is a $250 controller you shouldn’t have to replace parts, welp, if you beat the thing you can expect to replace things.

    • @Savage_2C
      @Savage_2C  4 года назад +10

      I would agree if the scuf didn’t advertise “high performance” and “pro-level controller”. I know a few pro players and these guys practice for hours and hours at a time every day. You would think the controllers would be build to withstand that level of stress. Games now a days are designed to be fast paced and needing quickness on the sticks. PS4 controllers outliving scuf seems a little bit odd to me

    • @itskeagan3004
      @itskeagan3004 4 года назад +2

      Savage I understand that professional gamers need to play for extended times but like I said the controllers are responsive and don’t need excessive force to respond. I’ve watched dudes twist the controller turning corners like it’s helping them move quicker, same as the ones I’ve seen jam the sticks in every angle like they need that to respond. True pro players finesse imo. These are replaceable parts too no? Like brakes on a car they need to be maintained they’re not going to last 4 years without replacement.

    • @hz9310
      @hz9310 4 года назад +1

      Keagan S. You’re an idiot. Lol. It’s called an investment. Replacing brakes on a car , fuckin AC problems, exhaust problems..when you dropped 80-100K on a car because that’s the mathematical breakdown on a traditional 40-50 dollar controller to a 350 dollar controller.. then you’re not gettin what you paid for.. and it’s true.. I was about to buy one of these fuckin things and the same shit happened to my boy.. sad af that they have some good shit and features but they’re actual dogshit controllers.. oh and tellin people to be light on their sticks is pretty ridiculous as well lol...

  • @dovydast
    @dovydast 3 года назад +2

    I had the same problem, I discovered that the stick gets a bit stuck by the secure ring, because the ring wears down and the residue increases friction.
    I fixed it with a little bit of Vaseline on the inside of the ring. It acts as a lubricant. It's been two months now. Works flawlessly. Before it was unplayable

    I have a scuf prestige and have had all the same issues OUT OF THE BOX. Scuf customer services are horrendous too. I contacted them with evidence of all the issues on the day that I received the controller requesting a replacement and they refused. They said that I could have a repair but not a replacement. My argument was that fresh out the box for £200 I should have a fully working NEW machine - not a repaired faulty one. They have since completely stopped responding to my support tickets. I even said that I would ship the broken controller back at my cost once they sent me shipping confirmation of a replacement. Nope. I got so irate that I submitted 30 support tickets for the same issues... no response as of yet. I will never ever buy another scuf product and I highly recommend that you don't either.

      i have three SCUFs. not sponsored, just play everyday, mostly shooters. have had nothing but problems. they look and feel great when they work. for the price, the quality is very cheap and not durable. they also have a proprietary security screw on the impact and infinity that prohibit users doing their own repair and maintenance. you have to send them off registered mail. trigger stops are cheap plastic tabs and digital triggers (which feel great) are also super fragile and once they're broken your fuxxed. i've sent them for repair many times and they've been returned not to spec and not actually fixed. i wished i'd known how poorly these are made and that i can't do my own repairs. honestly i think i'll just buckle down and learn claw and say f*** it to custom controllers. believe who you want but i wished i'd known all this before i had invested so much money.

    this goes to show large companies don’t care about the consumer. we come in and out like the seasons, they only care about the bottom line. If we stop buying Scufs or Elites, someone else just begins the process for the first time. It’s a sad cycle that benefits Scuf and Microsoft , not the millions of gamers.

    This is exactly why I’m just buying a Bigbigwon R100 adapter and an elite series 2 controller for my PlayStation 4, While the elite series 2 has its own set of problems. I’ve had far better experience with Microsoft controllers than I do the DS4, and almost every review I see of these scuf controllers are negative, and after the countless stories I’ve read I’d rather not.
    Plus I’m not going to spend shipping on a 200 dollar product
    Or 15 for a charging cable
    Or 15 for a hard case
    Or 100+ extra for these fancy features that I can get already with the elite 2 for much cheaper.
    And Im not paying 300~ish for a controller that 9/10 stories and reviews I hear say it breaks within a month, takes 6+months with customer support to “f I x.” Just to get it back with the exact same problems.
    Scuf to me is like a new Land Rover, they’re really cool for a month then never turn on/run again

I agree their outlook/UI and customer service is really good, but at that price its just unacceptable considering $60 ps4 controllers last longer. I was really debating whether to get it or not but now I am really convinced not to get it. The main problem is that there is no competitor that provides a better offering in terms of feature sets. Sony is also enjoying those royalties and not coming up with a pro controller like xbox has done which is super annoying!

    I’ve never used a scuff. I’ve been on the line about purchasing a Scuff pro reason because I don’t need anymore then two paddles. Which gets me to the best controller in my opinion. I own Two Astro C40 TR controllers. Your absolutely right about scuff having the best trigger option with the click option, with that being the only flaw. Now Astro is the absolute best when it comes to stick drift because it hardly ever happens. If it does Astro provides different modular options. Astro uses thumb stick modules that can be purchased with more tension or less tension for a awesome price of $19. You can customize more in-depth with Astros free software via laptop or desktop. You can also re-map them through the calibration button. Astro has awesome grip, feel, and weight. I love how the back paddle / trigger / buttons whatever you want to call them are placed in the best location not to mention they’re fairly close to a mouse click button. Astro c40 retails for $300+ and hasn’t changed since their release date. That right there should tell you everything you need to know. I’m still to this day using my original C40 over a year. I’ve only replaced the two modules once and I did it just for shits and giggles.

      @@senturytv yea, I have the same question. I literally just bought one myself. I got an impact on accident really. I was gonna get an infinity because I thought it was for the ps4 and the impact was for the ps5. Suffice to say I almost lost my shit because I thought I was gonna have to immediately return it because it wouldn't pair to my ps4. So I just googled if the impact would work on a ps4, and this is the video I found. The concern of whether I could pair it cleared up, but now I have a whole new set of concerns, mainly the sticks.

    From the comments you can clearly see a common trend that 3 years ago, they churned out quality products and still working fine but now in the last year, they’ve gone cheap to be greedy on profits which is a shame considering a joypad costs nearly as much as a console and when consoles start doing their own pro versions with paddles at a fraction of the price or free with it, say goodbye to scuff etc.

So Idk yet I might have to, but after hearing all of this it's quiet sad how much you said you had to fix your controller. Was it in perfect condition? Did the damages come from just playing on the scuff like you said? Because of so that really makes me reconsider getting one especially at 180 bucks which is what they charge.

Looking to buy the impact as a back up controller. I had a vantage 2 that all of a sudden stop functioning. I contacted scuf and they retired the model so they wont fix my controller. My stick doesn't get stuck like that, but I got stick drift on my right stick in less than 3 months of use. What a load of garbage. I spent $200 on the controller. If you buy an expensive controller, you should be getting the highest quality. I've never had drift in a single standard Dualshock 4, even after years of use. That's why I disagree when you say 9-10 months of use before drift is excusable. I better be getting years out of that controller spending that much money. If you are considering buying a scuff, take my advise and save yourself a good chunk of cash. Buy a back button attachment for your dualshock 4 for $30.

    I just want to add something. I’ve been running an impact for almost a year now and just ordered a new one. This controller is perfectly fine if you know how to fix shit. I have had to disassemble and fix my impact about 10 times since I got it but it really isn’t hard.
    1. USE KONTROL FREEKS
    I purchase new ones every 3-4 months when they wear out for $15.
    2. The digital triggers and bumpers would sometimes get stuck and not click. This was caused by various issues, but mainly from a plastic tab getting pushed out of the way. Takes about 10 mins to fix
    Stick drift is hard to fix but really didn’t start bothering me until recently when it got worse. Use something pointy to work out the single security screw in the back (the rest are Phillips head). I used an extra screw from a separate controller to replace it the first time I fixed it.
    DONT WASTE TIME SENDING CONTROLLERS BACK
    Fixing them yourself is not all that hard and well worth the try.

Ima miss the digital triggers the most

    So what should I be biying? I like how paddles sit with the strikepack on ds4 contoller however the closes thing I can find is evils "paddles" locations. the 2 must haves I need are 4 paddles and digital triggers. Was gunna do the scuf he showed in video but if its not gunna last more the a ds4 then forget it.
