Thanks Matt, agree with KPS 1M. Liked the Millars strummed. Have a good weekend.

Thanks Matt - liked the kps-1m and always a sucker for a moonbird!

Nice selection. All are great. But I just love that moon bird !

Interesting - nice to see a range of very good sopranos. The Kiwayas really are top notch, and the Moonbirds, in whatever size, sound to me perfectly like Moonbirds (a good thing and I have no other way to describe the sound). But it’s the Phil Doleman Millar I still have a hankering for that’s not dying away. Maybe it’s that Phil teaches me!

Price vs quality wise the KSU1 is unbeatable for me. I actually own one bought from World of Ukes and It is a delight.
The Millar MG210 was a really good surprise having in mind its thin body.
But the overall winner for me is the AnueAnue.
Thanks for putting this together. Really entertaining!

Have you tried to put Low g on a KSU1?I was thinking if this can sound like a mini guitar a bit that I can bring anywhere.

The Millar PD (especially at that price) and the Kiwaya KPS

I was thinking about buying KSU-1 and putting a Fremont low g string that I have laying around on it.(I choose to stay with High G on my Tenor) The idea behind this is to have a mini guitar that I can bring everywhere.
Is it stupid to put low g string on this soprano? Does it even make sense?

Sorry I missed this. I wouldn't say stupid - but on a short soprano scale there's not much tension, so the low G can feel a bit floppy. Something wound, like a Fremont Soloist, has more tension so you're mitigating your floppiness a bit!

    Thanks for the video Matt.
The Kiwaya KSU-1sounds really, really, really good for the price, it might be not as full sounding as some but the note separation and the dynamic are really nice. And it's as good in strumming as in finger style, which is not the case for all the instruments in that selection, even much pricier than the KSU-1.
Overall, in my opinion, the KPS-1M end up being the winner, because it excels in both fingerpicking and strumming and is still more or less affordable (the comparison side to side between the KPS-1M and the KTS-7 does not do the last any favour ^^, even if it is to be expected as the KTS-7 is more about being historically accurate than perfectly sounding).
The Moonbird also excels in every register, albeit different sounding than KPS-1M, but the aNueNue is not better by any means and cost quite a bit chunk of cash more.
Although Kiwaya may not be doing as much online marketing as the other newer brands - and although their instruments are not as ornamented - it is still definitely one of the most interesting, if not the most, offering in today ukulele market.

Excellent comparison, Matt! I wonder what it says about me that I own the two most expensive sopranos on this list...
BTW, the strings on the Kiwaya KS-5 (and the pineapple version of that uke) are Aranjuez Marron strings which are indeed very similar to D'addario Titaniums. Might be the same material but smaller gauge.

Oh interesting... I have seen them with Hilo strings. I don't mind different models with different string choices... but different types on different examples of the same ukulele model is a pain!

@@WorldofUkes Yes, I've heard Hilo strings being used as well in the past but I guess they were changed as Hilo strings aren't produced anymore, I believe. I've bought both the KS-5 and KS-4PG and both came with the Aranjuez strings. That said, I have also heard other strings being used as well very recently. Must be a pain for writing the listings. :D
