This is actually an example of what scouting can do for a team. The Royals had noticed that on balls down the right field line, Bautista always threw straight to second base to try to get the runner stretching a single into a double. They had covered before the game that in this kind of scenario they would send the runner on first all the way home and the batter would stop at first if the throw was made to second. They knew Cain was gonna be sent the whole way. Genius scouting, a beautifully executed play.

I wonder if the previous year's decision to not send Gordon in Game 7 of the World Series influenced their decision to send Cain here
Or was it simply because it was Cain running, or the throw to 2nd.
