I will never forget what my grandfather once told me, while we were fishing in Kornati.
We saw a small cloud at the edge of the horizon, towards Italy, it was nice and sunny morning.
Suddenly we started packing and getting ready to go home.
Grandfather: "We need to move now!" he said, pulling up all the nets...
Me: " Why?"
Grandfather looks up and points at the little cloud: "Nevera is coming"
Not an hour later, huge storm front came from the sea, it was the most violent thing I ever saw in my life.
It ripped out our roof in half, our boat almost sunk inside the harbour.
Nevera ...this is a good name.

almost word for word the same thing happened to us when we were on the island of Sita. We were fishing from the shore and our boat was anchored some 20m from us. It was a perfectly sunny day and my father saw one small cloud in the distance and said: "We need to pack up and move now, nevera is coming!". We were sceptical and said he was overreacting. After an hour, we were being followed by a huge black cloud like something from the movie "independence day" on our way to a safe marina. I will never forget this, we barely made it to our destination when the light show started and other boats got stranded and beaten around us. This was 17 years ago and dad is still gloating how he saved us that day :).

@@nl800 That's right! Venice ruled over Istria and Dalmazia for more than eight centuries: stretching from circa 1000 AD to 1796, when it was invaded by Napoleon even though it remained neutral.
When Napoleon was defeated, all of Venice's territories (including the city itself) were given to the Austrians. Italy managed to reconquer them during WWI, but lost them in WWII, being defeated by the Allies.
Sadly there's a dark page in this story, almost all of the 350.000 Italians living in Istria and Dalmazia were either killed or forced to leave these lands by Tito, along with many other brave Slovenes and Croatians who opposed the communist horror.
So there are many less Italians than in the past, but history should teach us not to repeat our errors. We are living again in peace and prosperity like we did in the past, before the Austrian rule. We Italians obviously look at the French and the Spanish as brothers, but I think we should do the same with our neighbours on the East! As you said, apart from the language, we basically share the same lifestyle, mentality and culture!
I'd love to see more relations between our countries, I wouldn't even mind giving Italian citizenship to Croats living in Istria and Dalmazia! You are truly friends and brothers! I sincerely wish you the best! 🇮🇹♥️🇭🇷

Nevera is short violent storm that happens in coastal Dalmatia during the summer. Stormy wind, short burst of heavy rain and lot of thunders.

@@lamb555v očito Hrvatski, i to dolazi od Dalmatinca, nitko u Italiji ne koristi riječ nevera, Hrvatski je ionako miks slavenskog, grčkog, latinskog, iranskog utjecaja. S tom logikom praktički tako možeš reći da bilo koja slavenska riječ nije Hrvatska, nego Ruska, Poljska itd. Ovo je itekako naše i možemo biti ponosni.

Nevera means storm on the Adriatic in Croatian. It is actually a word from Dalmatia.it’s commonly known that Mate Rimac loves Split and Dalmatia and spends his free time regularly there

I was a windsurfer, chasing these storms so I know the power of that storm, and the respect it has in Croatia. Just like Mate and his cars. Perfect name.

Najjace od svega je sto ce na njemu intenzivno lomiti jezik svi koji kuze samo Engleski. Jedva cekam interpretacije. I bas ti pokusaji izgovora ce toliko doprinijeti popularnosti i prici oko auta da to nije normalno. Ovo je PRISILA da nauce novu rijec na drugom jeziku. Genijalno!
