I’m 15 I’ve been mewing for almost 2 years now, I went to an orthodontist a while ago because of the pain in my jaw turn out my wisdom teeth had no space to grow into so they started to push against the other teeth, here’s the thing so if mewing would make more spacer for my wisdom teeth what will happen to the gap between my two front upper teeth??
But do you NEED palatial expansion to bring the halves of the maxilla further apart? If you have your tongue positioned at the sutures for at least 8 hours each day, will this be able to reshape it without the need for biobloc?
Hi, just wanted to ask whether I should continue mewing as I've done braces about 2 years ago and am currently wearing retainers every night when I go to bed. I tried to mew in the day and sleep with retainers in the night but my teeth would kind of hurt and feel a little loose. I read up on various forums that mewing and wearing retainers is basically doing 2 opposite things (mewing is trying to expand and using retainer is holding the current position in place and does not allow expanding) and it would hurt my teeth in the long run without any improvements.
stop wearing your retainer non-permanent if you mew. It will loosen your teeth because mewing causes expansion and your retainer is keeping it there. This causes a back and forth with your teeth and will eventually cause it to fall out. mewing and correct swallowing will keep your teeth straight it might cause some gaps though. I think gaps are better than having a recessed face though.
My (25) lower jaw is positioned 0,7mm behind my upper jaw (overjet). Therefore when I'm mewing, I'm moving my lower jaw to the normal position. Do you think you shouldn't do this and mewing will fix the problem itself or pretend that your lower jaw is positioned more foward and that will help to get to the position as you're getting used to it? Or do both, but not at the same time? Thanks for your help.

Fantastic lecture!! Thank you Mike Mew!
I'm looking into getting a palette expansion so I took these notes:
- Professor John Mew Palette Expansion Lecture Notes -
Good ones:
- Biobloc Stage 1 or BB1 ★ (best in the world made by Professor John Mew himself)
* Causes no scarring by allowing for new bone growth on the palette
* No damage to periodontal membranes (1/8 mm per day or more will cause damage)
* Slow and gentle @ 1/16 mm per day
* Requires no surgery
* No springs or TADs (they do a poor job and cause damage)
* Allows space for mewing
* Growth is stable and further expansion after usage is possible (must mew)
* Works on adults and gives at least 5-10 mm of additional width
* Generally operates with good orthodontic practice in mind and significantly boosts facial attractiveness
- AGGA (acceptable knockoff of the former)
- ALF (also effective & gentle all-wire system)
Bad ones: (avoid at all costs)
- DNA*
- Homeobloc*
- NAC**
- MARPE**
- RPE**
* really bad spring-based knockoffs of BB1
** might as well just safe money and use vice grips or something
What makes a good palette expander?
* Slow and gentle, especially on the periodontal membranes ("semi-rapid" 1/16 mm per day expansion)
* Doesn't cause damage to the suture along the palette
* No springs, (especially on the individual teeth), TADs, or surgical assistance
greatly appreciated for making these notes public!

I've been given an expander by my orthodontist to see where those teeth may move with expansion, but I've been told that most likely I will have to have both my deciduous and permanent canine removed and a fake canine in its place. I would like to keep my permanent canine if possible but I don't know how it would be possible to move it into it's correct spot considering the first premolar is in between. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Anyone been able to make changes with a narrow palate as an adult?
Mewing hasn’t worked for me, I’m 16 and have been practicing mewing for almost 2 years. I’ve seen no difference and if anything my teeth profile has gotten worse. I have however seen a nice improvement of my jawline and other facial features.
check if ur pushing the teeth or not
Asif Hossain I don’t think you’re meant to push your teeth.
the fuck??? You said it hasnt worked for you yet you say you have seen improvements
yeet 69 Mewing hasn’t worked in regards to palatal expansion which is one of the main points in mewing in the first place
However I have seen improvements in other areas such as my jawline🤷♂️🤷♂️
Is your nutrition on point?
Why can’t he explain to us all of the options that we have? The twin block good?
we want more about jaw
Jaw follows the upper
@@dawseyboy1 upper?
@@Zezzwar so, when the upper jaw expands, (as in when you mew, expand the palate) the lower jaw adjusts to it.
Hope this makes sense

Sir it's really important for me to know that why my molar teeth are aching so much i can't even chew hard substance this starts 2 weeks after mewing.
Molars should be in light contact only for 6 hours a day and no more
i am expanding using the homeoblock and it is incredible! Very comfortable and effective
How old are you? I’m 20 I don’t know if any of these things could work
@@SG-pd9mf 33 haha
Don't believe the nonsense of it being fused. Gradual intermittent pressure can expand your palate. Im proof. When I expand fully to what our ancestors intermolar width used to be- high 40s ealy 50s im post before and after in reddit.
@@David-fv2hj omg and I’ve heard it can help you to have a symmetrical face ? I’m panicking bc my orthodontist wants to extract 6 tooth plus they already extracted one molar. But I suffer from sleep apnea and I can see my jaw is too narrow that’s what causes crowding but I can’t find a doctor who even knows this device :( in ny
And they already put braces on which is correcting the crowding at the bottom but I’m more asymmetrical now since they’re pushing the teeth to one side
Dear anyone who read this. We all know that Dr Mew said that extraction was bad for jaw. But what if I don’t want to get it removed but it hurts and damaging other teeth? My lower jaw is small and I don’t think it’ll wider soon
Hi I am in the UK, only get biobloc in one region??
GENIUS!!!
how can one get a crozat appliance?
can i still change the structure of my upper jaw with 26? slight underbite and dont want operation...
Please talk about bone loss and gap teeth. This is my biggest insecurity. Ive talked to many specialist and they dont want to do anything with it until it will fall off. But I cant live the rest of my life with gap teeth...I dont know what to do :(
the top jaw can sit too far forward from lower jaw can mew gets it back plzzz tell 🙏
What can you do for transparent teeth and damaged enamel?
Hey I have a question I recently stopped using my retainers at night and my two front teeth on top are just separating a little The reason why I stopped using my retainers is because I believe that if I keep using them I will not be able to expand my palate it is narrow and I want to expand it but my two front teeth are kind of separating what should I do?
Really hoping Mike can see this so I have been mouth breathing until now and I just turned 14 like 2 months ago and was wondering if I can still correct my face with mewing? Please see this
Yes my bro you can
I have important question please ..can I remove my chin implant and move my natural chin ? 1 centimeters forward

My orthodontics told me that i need tooth extraction , should i go ahead with it or not?

@@smoothbanana what does protrusive profile mean?
Sadly even if I am able to find orthotropists near me that use biobloc, they only use it on children because they don't think adults' palates can expand. Dr John Mew, why don't they think it's possible to expand adults' palates when they are orthotropists? Did they not get the memo in their training?
Maxillary arches can be expanded in adults. Read the book "Breath" by James Nester.
I found several dentists in the L.A. area who use similar devices. I'm a 47-year-old woman and having both palatal and mandibular expansions.
@@myoldvhstapes What are the devices called?
Dr Won Moon says otherwise, you can expand your palata
@@chaniam: Oops, sorry. RUclips never notified me of your question. I don't know the names. The one in the top is made from a mould of the palate, like a classic teenage retainer. It's split down the middle so it can be expanded each week.
The one in the bottom is sort of an A-frame metal contraption that is anchored on two molars. There's a crossbar that is expanded one milimetre per week.
can you expand with MSE at semi rapid rate ?
I wonder how much forward expansion (in mm ) you can get from just mewing in a year, I am trying to fix my underbite
Hey there buddy! I also suffer from slight underbite/crossbite and started mewing in late 2019. I don't have any measuring device but I can confidently say that my maxilla moved forward since my upper teeth is the one in front instead of my lower teeth.
My palate also expanded. And what I really noticed is that face isn't as flat as before. Just keep on mewing :)
