It surprised me to see so many people involved on this list. Halfway of it, it looked like it was made by some kids in their late 20s or so. But in the end, anyone can see that this was just a popularity contest with no coherent criteria at all, where almost everything was missrepresented with the clear exception of Zelda and Mario franchises (and Bethesda). No beat'em ups, no shoot'em ups, just one racing game, one fighting game...

It will be a repeat of Part one, just different Mass Effects, Zelda's GTA's, etc. as they are not doing what charts like this SHOULD do: Pick the best game in the series!

This list is obviously a popularity contest, not based on impact to gaming history. Popular modern CRPG are included, but not historical important ones that help create the genre, Ultima not-Underworld, Might and Magic, Pool of Radiance, Diablo, and my favorite, Betrayal at Krondor.
1:20 Stardew Valley. I haven't played it either although I should, but before that there was Harvest Moon.
6:14 Morrowind is my holy grail, for me this game is meant to be played outside the box, yes to exploit the game, like create insanely powerful spells and enchanted weapons, jumping across the entire map, on shot shock spell that kill every cliff racer in the vicinity. This is why modern gamers can't get into it, they prefer to be told what to do and be confined.
Daggerfall deserve a remake more. The story is interesting with lots of mysteries, definitely worth experiencing in a more modern format.
8:10 Chrono Trigger I treat like fine wine, give it time to age. Very special game for me, but when you talk about it and play it too much, it loses its magic. I probably haven't replayed it for 6-7 years now. I'll give it a bit longer.
21:05 Deus Ex changed everything in how I play and enjoy games, made me appreciate the depth games can be. I'm happy Squeenix no longer own Deus Ex and Tomb Raider. There are accusation by a few fans that Eidos Montreal themselves has gotten woke, but I am hopeful for the next one. Mankind Divided is super underrated.
27:30 SFII. Growing up during arcade era, I played Mortal Kombat II, SNK fighters, and Killer Instinct way more than SFII which I saw as the normies fighter. Not many people know there is a Killer Instinct Xbox/Steam game from 2013, it's actually pretty good.
31:00 Again, System Shock series was better and much scarier.
41:14 FFVII, I loved this game as a kid, story is great to experience, but playing it today with emulator it doesn't hold up in term of gameplay because you can hold A and fast forward the random battles. Yes you do that will many other older JRPGs too, but the problem with this game in particular is that the materia system strip away the uniqueness of the characters.
43:11 Skyrim. Fun fact with this game is when they came out with the Special edition, they hid away the original Skyrim version from Steam store page. And at that time all the mods for the original game didn't work with this new Special edition, then Bethesda came out with Creation Club so you could pay to buy fan made mods. That was when I knew I was done with Bethesda. I skeptical they have the creativity left to make the next one great and original, aside from better graphics.
52:50 Half Life 2. I am unlikely to replay this game. This is not an FPS game, but a driving game. You spent most of the time driving either the buggy or the boat with horrible controls, it gives me a headache. It is an important game in gaming history, but I feel like also sets off the era where graphic and physic engine become more important than gameplay and story (not saying HL story wasn't good). It is only recently that gaming industry is starting to recede from that, maybe.
54:10 Dark Souls games, I never got into this genre because I don't understand the concept of designing a game just to be difficulty to beat (Cuphead). I want to play games to enjoy myself and not get frustrated. Probably not a Souls style game, but I enjoyed Dragon's Dogma by Capcom, loved the atmosphere, bosses and combat combos.
1:01:30 Witcher 3. The combat is not very good, with the over animated and imprecise sword spinning. I adore the beautiful game world, particularly Toussaint, this is mainly what I play it for. I prefer Kingdom Come because of superior gameplay and stealth mechanic.
1:11:30 Breath of the Wild. Well for one my conscience don't allow me to give Nintendo money so I'm not likely to experience their future inhouse games. Watching the gameplay it seem to be a generic openworld that has been done before by western developers through the ages, but seem to be revered because it has the label of Nintendo and Zelda on it.
1:14:00 Prince of Persia, I haven't played the 3D games, but I did once beat Prince of Persia 1 and 2 on SNES, tough but rewarding to go through once. Blackthorne was a similar Flashback style game that I liked.

Finally someone who knows gaming history. Don't forget that classic 4 is Wizardry, Bard's Tale, Ultima and Might and Magic, where only Wizardry stood test of time gameplay wise and Ultima story wise. BTW, Original Wasteland was such a big hit back in the day. If you gonna check Computer Gaming World Half of Fame and top 50-100 lists of every issue from 1988 to 1993 Wasteland was hanging in top 10.
_Edit:_ I agree on every hot take you provided. Ppls in their 40's and 50's who been accustomed to gaming culture since young age love to hate on Morrowind, but they don't even know how deep and interactive the game mechanics and combat if you want to make it so.

1:11:35 - Of course #1 was BotW, I knew it before you scrolled there. So yeah, not a good "best of". I guess that's what to expect if you just poll streamers; streamers basically go after view count instead of game quality. For example Resident Evil 4 was no surprise, but I think it makes for better watching than actually playing. (I found the QTE's especially annoying.) Some entire genres would have a difficult time making the list, for example puzzle games are more about thinking, and usually don't make for interesting video. So Myst not included; it's probably worthy but apparently it's not the right genre. Also what about arcade games? I guess even if were technically possible to stream them they wouldn't be popular streams; were the people who watch gaming streams even born yet when arcade games were popular? And as you mentioned, no strategy games; you'd think They are Billions would qualify since it's at least a popular streaming game, but it's probably too hard for non-rts players. SDV is an interesting pick; I think it was the only game there I would call "indie". It seems unfair that Rare was not represented; just because it was bought, ruined, and dismantled by Microsoft doesn't mean they didn't make some great games back in the day. I was also disappointed Horizon Zero Dawn wasn't listed, but I guess it was overshadowed by God of War when it first came out.
Anyway, of the 100 games here I've only played 17, but this list didn't inspire me to check out any of the remaining 83. Some are too old to play without messing around with emulators and whatnot, some are on consoles and I play PC games exclusively now, and most of the rest just didn't look that interesting to me. For me, the most important practical information needed is how to shop for games you'll like. I've found shopping on Steam rather hit or miss; I won't say I've actually bought any bad games, but I've bought a few that weren't nearly as good as I thought they'd be. At this point I only buy games on sale; they may still be a disappointment but at least they won't be as expensive a disappointment. I do try to get as much information as I can without actually spoiling the plot, but somehow despite that I'm often caught off guard by some aspect of the gameplay that would have made me reconsider buying the game if I'd known about it.

Man, i hate how all this journalists and elitists keep saying that GoW 2018 is a "thot provoking gayme instead of gory blood kill previous games". Previous game were as thought-provoking and well written as god 2018, even better

Some time ago I made peace with the fact that other people are not into my favorite games from late 90s/early 00's. Most of my peers either moved on (hell, I'd say I moved on as well) from gaming or are younger so they have completely different gaming interests. Those lists are a waste of time, clickbait and only good as a quick and incomplete snapshot of "whats considered cool now by some groups of gamers". This list is even worse than others (no UFO/nu-XCOM?) but there are no good lists. It doesn't matter, just deep breaths, it's all cool (no Total Annihilation???).

Lol, they put about 8 games of Zelda on that List. What an embarassment, what a Lack of general knowledge.
And where is Freespace 2, the pinnacle of Sci-Fi simulators?

That usually happens when a non gaming magazine does a gaming best of. Anyway, this top wasn't total trash, despite all the glorious missing games - can't really blame them for some oversights, most of us boomers remember a different time and a different set of games. Anyway, ma man, you need some copious copium. Or so it seemed. Please take care! Cheers!

mmmm. I dont get the hate train so much other than get the outcast to agree to you, which is fun. I played Monster hunter, beautiful ecosystem and a lot of grind. I would imagine as you go further and improve your stats and equipment you will appreciate everything more.
But we dont have so much time anyway, specially when you actually game a lot you will not have the energy to actually play games at steady pace.
I honestly beginning to think there is no point in playing a lot of games. Since you will forget most stuff anyway and playing other games will make you worse in your favorite game or life...
As such the best thing is probably to try out different gameplay styles and typs of games when you are young and than settle for one and focus most of your energy at your real life...

Sorry to hear that story about losing allyour saves. I still have an old undelete utility and still resort to it every now and then when I make some dumb mistake. Unfortunately, with the rising popularity of SSDs, the option to undelete is not available, unless you disable TRIM, or find some way to delay it. Nowadays it's better to have an automatic backup solution.
Outer Wilds is really nice. I can only recall a few games where watching 1 hour of a let's play made me stop the video and go get the game myself to avoid further spoilers. They were Dark Souls 1, Obra Dinn, and Outer Wilds. And possibly Undertale (don't remember).

Dude, it is pretty obvious that he seeing how all these games are mostly time wasting of your life. Like, most of them are more or less the same gameplay and you will bore to death after playing some of them. Loving mass effect 2 is all right. Specially when he mentioned tell tale ... I mean the hype of that only made the more narrative driven games like the last of us, the modern tomb raider games, uncharted possible...
How is tell tale more game than the last of us lol .... IF we ever gone a tell that a game is not game enough it would be a tell tale game lmao...
Further, there some grand strategy games out there that should have been on the list.
