Had this video queued up for a week, finally watched it. What made the town screens in Heroes 3 & 5 iconic was seeing your city start out with so much empty space and slowly building it all up. I like the idea of having little guys walking around the towns. It really needs great music to go with it for sure! And if you add the little villagers they 100% need to make some sounds too. One feature that I'd really like for the developers to add - this might be a lot of work, but lets say you build a griffin dwelling and it has 5 griffins in it, you should be able to see in the town screen background 5 griffins flying around in the sky. You buy 1, then you see only 4 griffins in the sky, etc. etc. Up to like a max of 1 or 2 weeks growth. Not every creature needs this, but it would be very climactic if you buy out all your army barely anyone is left at the town.

I'm not sure about the visual design. The units are too ornate and create visual clutter. Everything is so shiny, gilded and ornamental. Like, in the battle I wasn't even able to tell what the ranged unit in bottom left was. An angel? A Protoss? And the rest of the units (and heroes) in the battle had similar issues. Shining mace on one unit, over-designed helmet on another melee unit, tons of golden something on the gryphons. Why can't gryphons be simple gryphons? Melee knights to be knights in armor. And angels be angels with classic angel wings? Like in heroes 3? Also, the town design is a bit too pompous and "fantasy". HOMM3 has more real and immersive town screens. Castle looked like a town with fantasy elements, Temple looks like a set of fantasy buildings and not a town. HoMM3 Necropolis was dark, creepy and dead. This Necropolis feels like a seat of someone cosplaying as a Necromancer. Why do necromancers need a giant reaper statue? Giant glowing bits on builidngs?

As long as the gameplay is good and the atmosphere of the HoMM is retained I'm willing to get used to the artstyle. Now, what I am curious about, and a bit surprised, that no one asked already, why did all the units were able to move away from one another without getting any attacks of opportunity? Do they all have immunity to them, is this a hero's skill, is it a mechanic that is no longer present in the game, or have the devs simply not implemented it yet? As a side note, the fact that the game music is still not there gives me hope that Paul Romero will score the game :D
Emotions running high in the comment section 🙂love to see so many people care about my all-time favourite game. Even if they are exaggerating the sh... out of the whole art style aspect. It's far from looking like a mobile game and the more footage I see the more I get used to the few things I didn't like when I first saw them. Now it's all about learning the icons and skins, just like in every other new game. Thanks for sharing this with a 10 out of 10 charming presentation!
Loved the host❤. Also, the presentation, and gameplay. Can't wait for more gameplay footage, and ofc gameplay from our lovely host. I am so excited, like i was, when i discovered heroes 1 the first time. Good God.
I wonder how the Hive emerged. Because in Chronology, the game will take place before the Kreegan Invasion in the same Planet (Enroth), but in another Continent (Jadame, Antagarich was the HOMM3's Continent). And what would their goal be outside of probably destroying everything that will comes to their way. Demonic Insects Sounds Great NGL! :D
Yeah, I was wondering something similar because of dark elves as part of the dungeon faction. I know they were in MM8, but I don't remember seeing any lore about why they would be part of it, although it was a long time ago since I played it.
I'm excited for what Unfrozen has to offer, because they really nailed the look. I wish it was a bit more saturated, but overall, looks very nice. The one sticking point that could be an issue is the speed of the game. I'm guessing it's either set to normal or slow(er) for readability for the sake of the user. When it comes to playing the game over time, or just for preference, I do hope there's a toggle to speed up the hero movement, the speed at which units move and execute abilities in the combat arenas.
Hmm.. the overall world looks pretty good and i like how the map is like paper that burns as you explore it. Town screens felt a bit off but that might change after seeing how you navigate them. Shadows seemed to be doing some weird stuff too but maybe its just because of the presentation, looking forward to see town screen again with all the functions. In combat the ground looked pretty amazing but unit animations feel really off when moving. Lots of sliding which shouldnt happen in lords year of 2024 and they look like they are in different universe from ground art. Sounds so far was a bit 50-50 for me. The thing that got stuck with me was when griffin got hit sounded like puppy and that lighting spell sound was just straight ass. And afaik there is no any OST released yet, so hopefully thats not bad. Music was always huge part of homm's success imo. But love the systems, they picked the right grid and angle for combat. It really does look like it's very much homm3 which is nice! Overall feeling good-ish(?). Some of the graphical choises and sound work so far is looking like they could be a vibe killers. Hoping for the best.
all good news. I liked everything. additional things that I personally want for the game: hero attack with good animations like h5 not like heroes 7. unit warcries when attacking, defending or dying or some unique battle dialogues to make the game feel more alive and battles more dramatic make faction units more distinctive in design and color. it shouldn't be just color. some unique features like for example all deamons have red horns on their heads or body, all undead have bones or green eyes, temple units have holy glowing signs on their armor or something add something like skill wheel in H7 to easily understand and plan skill paths within the game
I like how heroes 6 and 7 are just not being talked about XD I just hope they actually support the game this time and fix the bugs. Also I really hope they build the game with modding in mind.
I really hope that the multiplayer doesn’t end up with the 'waiting black screen' while other players take their turn... that was so frustrating. Thank you for the information and the nice video presentation!
Heroes 4 was my favorite but maybe because i didnt play heroes 3. Gonna play this tho. The last faction is obviously the might/barbarian faction. Lez goooo!
Town screens look lovely! Not 100% sold on the artstyle, but it has a certain charm to it and will probably grow on me. Less happy about the return to hex grid; I know it's traditional, but my experience tells me there is going to be a lot less tactical blocking of movement with this configuration, making battles considerably less interesting. We'll see, I guess.
I love the design of the city buildings, I also love the design on the map. However, the game seems very dark to me! There's very little contrast and even the heroes don't stand out much on the map. I hope we'll be able to adjust that in the menus.
90% of this seems positive. I am tentatively excited. That being said, as you can see in the battle at around 8:33, the "new" era of very heavily overdesigned units is here to stay. The angel's wings and bow is just... I don't know, it's all angles and widgets and complete over the top. It is what it is, but I truly do miss the era of when unit designs were a bit more rooted in classical fantasy conventions or even historical examples, even if those examples weren't necessarily "realistic" themselves.
I hope the Devs of Homm Olden Era will work with the devs of HoTA mod , its simply just so good, that if they dont... i think they will miss alot of vital updates HOMM 3 had with HotA.
Good to see come back some H3 mechanics. :) For me H3 will stay the best of Heroes series by far. Will the battle screen come with an interface where we can see which creature will coming next? Didn't notice that in the video.
‼ One of beautiful sides of HMM3 is its simple graphic. The one shown here is... how do I say it.. Unnecessarily overdetailed, too busy. I don't give shit about how cool something looks in 3D. I need to take a glance at the screen and know what it is and in the video objects and unit models are huge, too complicated, hard to "read" on the screen. The items blends with the map, hard to see. Some troops blend with the battle field, hard to see. Here in advice for you: Do like in Starcraft Remastered where you can turn on different visuals for the game. to be able to switch between 3D and 2D. And here is another advice: do not invent the wheel for now. Your main task now - unite and lead what is left of the community of HMM players, not divide it by offering something some like and some don't. Take the current industry standard - HMM3 Horn of the Abyss, keep everything AS IS and make a remastered 3D capable version with AI generated improved faces, towns, models, etc. There bunch of beautiful examples online. And for the love of God, DO NOT make everything look cartoonish. This world of warcraft 2 design style is just horrible.‼
Nice video and production/presentation, Ana. I'm generally not too excited about the factions and art style. Heroes 3 was great, because it's factions "made sense" and were closely linked to common themes and mythology around the world. This gives me modern silly interpretations of common game tropes vibe... and combat seems kind of sissy. Otherwise the idea of the game is on the spot, but I kind of doubt it will be what we hope. P.S. also the towns look like theme parks rather than actual towns and the art style is a bit too busy.
@@HeroesTakeTurns You're welcome. Don't mean to be too critical. I generally am kind of excited for the game, but I think the art style isn't my cup of tea overall.
@@HeroesTakeTurns glad to hear it. I like Heroes 5... keep meaning to go back and beat the campaign on highest difficulty :) I like Heroes 3 art style better than 5 too though. One other thing I'm a bit worried is the feminization of the game. I noticed a female paladin. While in Heroes 3 there's plenty of female units they kind of make more sense as to which are female and which male.
That's a good point about the female paladin 🤔 I wonder how the rest of the units and creatures will turn out. In any case have fun with replaying the campaigns! 🙂
Map looks ok, but towns….those look very cartoony, which gives mobile games vibe for whatever reason. It would better if designs of towns would be closer to HoMm3
Agree. Even towns in 7looks better. I dont like the style, even the human town looks ugly in my opinion :/ and everything need to be lil darker. Necro and dungeon... Dungeon looks bad in my opinion:( is more a heaven than a dungeon
I'm really happy to see game at this state. One crucial thing about battles tile count on old HoMM 3 is 11by 15. That gives tactual maneuverability. In this video I see 9 by 11 tiles. Is this final battle tile count or there will bee multiple variations?
@@HeroesTakeTurns Thanks for response. There is mathematic behind battle arena size. In Heroes II there is only 5 unit stack but in Heroes 3 are 7 unit stacks. There for battle arena size is bigger.
I like them going back to hexagons for combat but i'd prefer a more from the top view, clearer outline of the hexes and of course the unit numbers. I hope the latter ones will just be an optional toggle for personal reference. Just feel like heroes 3 was a bit cleaner and you had a better oberview compared to the showcase combat here. A good overview and simplicity is important so we can focus on the fight strategy
Really nice video and i love the way combat works. The details of units and all the moves - really nice! I was sceptic and I am still a bit concerned but it’s getting better. I really hope they will make it all look more visable on the exploring map and emphasize the towns so they look more significant. And…just please make them correct this poor „my little pony” on TEMPLE Hero…
The graphics are pretty but there's something about it that makes it a bit hard to look at. I'm not sure if it's the contrast levels or something. I'm probably just used to the old school look of HOMM3.
@@HeroesTakeTurns I think mostly for the battles and adventure map on the death ground. For example another game silence of the siren has same style of graphics. But it has different lighting or something so it is much easier and better for the eyes.
I expected better sound effects, especially when casting spells. So far loogs good, I hope it will sound better. Also, the towns look good but also somewhat 3D in a style that looks different from the maps and overall game. I hope you manage to somehow stich this.
My only gripe is that the battle screen is ridiculously small. I mean there are just few hexes to move around in. Compare it to Heroes 3 battle field size, and Heroes 5 battle field size. It seriously makes strategic movement inexistent, apart from changing the order of units before the battle. Why make it so small ?
So.. very happy about new game of the beloved franchise, and many other similar games are coming. Do they all have immunity to them, is this a hero's skill, is it a mechanic that is no longer present in the game, or have the devs simply not implemented it yet?
As a side note, the fact that the game music is still not there gives me hope that Paul Romero will score the game :D
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I'm curious myself whether the devs will keep the battle closer to 3 and 5 or implement new battle mechanics.
Thank you for your take on the topic and also for kind words! Appreciate it ☺️
Branching unit upgrades! My favorite feature from Heroes 5 \o/
Agree! 🤩
Genuine very excited for this, I loved the old homm games, H2 and H5 was without a doubt my favorites.
Loved the host❤. Also, the presentation, and gameplay. Can't wait for more gameplay footage, and ofc gameplay from our lovely host. I am so excited, like i was, when i discovered heroes 1 the first time. Good God.
Thank you very much for your kind words! I'm glad to hear your excitement about the announcement 😄
There were portals to demon controlled worlds before the Kreegans arrived in Enroth. It's in the Heroes Chronicles standalone expansions.
thank you so much for the video. informative and sympathetic
I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)
And people called Homm5 cartoony. This is literally a cartoon.
I think it's visually meant to resemble a a tabletop miniature game like Heroscape, Warhammer, and D&D.
Thanks for the awesome video! I loved how you gathered all that info.
Thank you for your appreciation! 🌞
We will surely want even more creatures in possible expansions and DLC, bringing more factions! But the final price product can be a problem indeed.
Another beautiful video. I'm hopeful about this part of the old series even if there are no dwarves as a faction ... 🙂
Thank you very much! I have high hopes as well and I can imagine that the devs might add dwarves later on in an expansion 🙂
Last (6th) faction is probably Academy.
That might be possible 🤩
I expected from full release more... please Stronghold back Behemoth is so cool , Orcs and Goblins i need
The map looks awesome but units and towns design are very poor. Please consider changing it to less cartoony
I agree.
Warcraft 2 was cartoony
Totally agee. Old art design is way refine and suitable for this series.
Completely agree, the artistic style is kinda yucky
Yeh, i agree
I liked it very much. units, factions and atmosphere.
I hope there will be a decent storyline company that will be interesting to go through.
Looks like our all time favorite Heroes 3! Finally after so many years!
This is the best gaming news I've heard in a while
This looks amazing. I really like the art style of the units, reminds me of HOMM 5 a little. The art style of the cities is also great.
What a surprise! Thanks for making these videos! Waiting for the next one!
You are welcome and thank you also for watching! ☺️
Thank you a lot for sharing your thoughts!
Even the sound of the skeleton walking shown earlier was crappy.
Sound design is at least 40% of why the early HoMM succeeded. It was friggin good.
TAKE MY MONEY! Nothing's topped 3 for me but this looks like it just might.
My main complaint is the town designs inside and outside. I mean do we really need the necro town to look like that on the global map?
Oh wow! I am hyped up. Please let the game be great in the End.
all good news. I liked everything. additional things that I personally want for the game:
hero attack with good animations like h5 not like heroes 7.
unit warcries when attacking, defending or dying or some unique battle dialogues to make the game feel more alive and battles more dramatic
make faction units more distinctive in design and color. it shouldn't be just color. some unique features like for example all deamons have red horns on their heads or body, all undead have bones or green eyes, temple units have holy glowing signs on their armor or something
add something like skill wheel in H7 to easily understand and plan skill paths within the game
Thank you, these are some thoughtful suggestions!
I like how heroes 6 and 7 are just not being talked about XD
I just hope they actually support the game this time and fix the bugs.
Also I really hope they build the game with modding in mind.
I really hope that the multiplayer doesn’t end up with the 'waiting black screen' while other players take their turn... that was so frustrating. Thank you for the information and the nice video presentation!
Thank you for your kind words! The devs plan simultaneous turns in multiplayer, I'll talk about that soon in my upcoming video.
Happy to see game returning to classic form. Hope that this game will not suffer from horrible DRM or microtransactions.
Heroes 4 was my favorite but maybe because i didnt play heroes 3. Gonna play this tho. The last faction is obviously the might/barbarian faction. Lez goooo!
thank you mylady! waiting for the second part. great music addition from you
You are welcome :) and thank you for watching too! 🙏
Can't wait for this game. HOMM3 is one of my top 3 games ever. Along with Age of Empires 2 and Diablo 2.
I agree, love those games too!
heroes 4 was actually a great game, still play it from time to time...
Looks cool! I actually hoping to see those units to be a little bit bigger or taller though.
I'm sold, yet I hope the swamplands of Fortress returns in the future, I want my Gorgonzolas
looks gorgeous (castle's screens in hom3 still looks better). now is most important thing - intersting gameplay
Not convinced so far. Gonna keep an eye on it to see the direction it takes on later development.
Will there be balance updates? Nerfing strong units and buffing weak units?
Hoping to see a really good simulations turns systems for multiplayer. Sitting and waiting 20min for enemy to do turn isnt very fun.
Yes, since that was an early game build, we should definitely get an UI for the battle screen.
Looking very nice in that dress Lexiav !
😆🤣
Great video, very excited for the game!
Thank you for stopping by and watching!
Thank you for writing down your thoughts - I like the idea of "unite and lead".
Then stick to retro games n!@@a
I like it a lot, I'm looking forward to this!
Thank you for your appreciation! And also for writing down your opinion 🙏
@@HeroesTakeTurns You're welcome. Don't mean to be too critical. I generally am kind of excited for the game, but I think the art style isn't my cup of tea overall.
Actually I think it is natural to be critical, especially since we all want this game to be the true successor of homm 3 (and 5) 🙂
@@HeroesTakeTurns glad to hear it.
this is very important for the slav community
Great video thank you. Game looks very promising. Please get rid of the blood effects on Undead!!! Thanks :)
Thank you too, for watching and for your comment! I believe the blood effect will be reworked for undead / mechanical creatures :)
Удачи вам с разработкой! Надеюсь что у вас всё получится, выглядит очень впечатляюще и оптимистично [:))]
Thanks for the video. When will be next part?
Thank You for watching! ☺️ I am currently working on the next video, and plan to release it in the course of the upcoming week.
@@HeroesTakeTurns ? :)
🙈 I was hindered. I made a short community post about it. Next video out soon 😅
At this stage I am not sure whether the battle size is final or if the devs will still change it until Early Access 🤔
@@HeroesTakeTurns Thanks for response. There is mathematic behind battle arena size. In Heroes II there is only 5 unit stack but in Heroes 3 are 7 unit stacks. There for battle arena size is bigger.
Why skeletons and overall undead have blood?
I like them going back to hexagons for combat but i'd prefer a more from the top view, clearer outline of the hexes and of course the unit numbers. I hope the latter ones will just be an optional toggle for personal reference. Just feel like heroes 3 was a bit cleaner and you had a better oberview compared to the showcase combat here. A good overview and simplicity is important so we can focus on the fight strategy
@@randmuller1267 Thank you for your comment! Unit numbers, damage etc will certainly be displayed in a future game build I believe :)
I'm glad you liked the presentation and thanks a lot for taking your time to watch my video!
The graphics are pretty but there's something about it that makes it a bit hard to look at. I'm not sure if it's the contrast levels or something. I'm probably just used to the old school look of HOMM3.
That's interesting, is it for you every aspect or just the adventure map, town screen etc?
And yes, the look of heroes 3 is still something special :)
@@HeroesTakeTurns I think mostly for the battles and adventure map on the death ground. For example another game silence of the siren has same style of graphics. But it has different lighting or something so it is much easier and better for the eyes.
@@HeroesTakeTurns The town screens actually look really good. It's mostly the other screens that are an issue.
I'm very excited for this. Too bad they couldn't get Paulo Romero to do the music.
I share your excitement! 🤩 I have planned a video about the great Paul Romero as well.
@@HeroesTakeTurns I'm definitely looking forward to that!
Love your dress! Hope your channel will be successful!
Thank you so much for your well wishes! 🙏
No random map = no interest
Random map = day 1 purchase
❤
So.. very happy about new game of the beloved franchise, and many other similar games are coming. Im ok with the graphic(wow style).. just.. as other comments said: necro and dungeon are a bit too light. Especially dungeon, really dont like it. Its supposed to be dark elves? Damn they are under the ground, need to be darker and definitly more evilsh. I really hope u guys could comunicate to the devs and give a look at that
