I couldn’t stand Liz she is so nosy! Like Respect the fact you don’t get to know everything about somebody. Reseller too he always plays “good cop” unless it benefits him. He’s hates Red for being a criminal but is willing to break the law if it means he gets to sleep with Liz or it keeps him out of jail. The only thing they managed too do is make him seem like a cop in real life.

I agree I started disliking her after season 4 and forwarding every part she was in. I didn’t even watch season 8 except for the finale. She really killed the show for me.

Raymond is the only one you need, literally the only character I remotely care about. On the one side it’s impressive because she managed to make me genuinely extremely annoyed and tilted. On the other side her acting skills are child’s play compared to spader.

There was a brief period where she seemed to accept being like him and acted a bit ruthless and badass. Sadly she went right back to her relentless entitled search for answers and betrayed Red. The fact that she got played so heavily by Kat just sealed her fate.

I agree, that season in which she went full on criminal, I actually loved her character, and if things had continued on that route, she would have remained one of my favorite characters in the show, but instead they decided to turn the next season into Real Housewives.. Got her pregnant, and made the entire show revolve around pregnancy. Not a scene could go by in which someone wasn't talking about her having a baby (unless all the people in the scene specifically didn't know her). And they gave her that horrid, cliché, middle-class soccer-mom haircut..
The funny thing is there's an episode where Liz blames Reddington for the death of her grandpa and husband. Her grandpa died directly because of her, and her husband because he was trying to discover secrets he was warned by Red not to.
Not just that remember her sister Jenifer,she died because of her but of course according to her it was all Red's fault!..I really didn't like her character, always doing things her own way and too quick to put the blame on others
I just finished watching season 4 and part of season 5 where Tom Keen dies from his wounds. I may be in the minority, but I never had any problems with Elizabeth Keen's character. I don't think anyone would be able to handle things more affectively like Elizabeth's character when she discovers her life just goes a complete 180 when she has to come to quick terms that one of the FBI's most wanted has a direct interest in her immediately after she reached her personal goals on becoming an FBI agent. The show is extremely well written, no doubt but very disturbing. When I watch each episode, I think of the political term used to characterize today's modern branches of federal government - The Swamp.

@@seedsoflove7684 I just finished watching the end of Season 9. I took a break after watching part of Season 5 -The Ian Garvey Saga was extremely graphically violent IMHO. Overall, I was a bit disappointed on how Elizabeth Keen was portrayed going rogue. Raymond Reddington of course is depicted as one of the worse bad guys and it's a bit disturbing that he's a valuable informant for the FBI in that series at the same time - all ethics from the Bureau is way out the window. But, Reddington has saved Elizabeth's life more times than she could remember. And I felt the angle in which she was stealing Reddington's resources depicted her as an extreme hypocrite. But then again, she did fall in love with Tom Keen - a certified career bad guy. And despite that, Tom was portrayed at the end of his life as one of the most heroic characters in the series fighting for the love of his life to the end. That heroic moment was off the charts. I will admit, I was a bit disappointed in Elizabeth Keen's character after season 5. But at the same time, the series is awesomely written with amazing creativity.

I didn't mind the Liz Keen character, UP UNTIL THE LAST 2 SEASONS 🙄 the entire breakdown was unnecessarily caused by Liz and the team's insistence on not listening to Red when it came to the pursuit of truth - so dumb, I hated that plot. It'll be sad to see her go tho, Boone isn't a bad actress.
Anyway, I think the final 2 eps of season 8 were pointing to the idea that Red was actually Katarina OR that he's the man she really feel in love with. We'll see how season 9 plays out
I didn't care for Liz either in the last, she was like I am bad all by my bad self. I hate woman over throw movies. Raymond and Dembe, I my heart was just broke for Jelly Bean who passed away in real life,. but I thought his mom was great in the film.

I think the problem with Liz character is that they really didn't evolve her. She always came off as a snobby little brat like a teen angry at her father. I think her acting next to James spader was mediocre and I think that's what fans really have a problem about. I think we need a full cast shake up because agent navabi was getting on my nerves a bit but even her storyline with the Moussad gave more than Liz's character.

Yep, by the eighth season, I thoroughly hated Elizabeth Keen.. The bitchiness, the entitlement, and the fact that her brainless pursuit of the facts, got countless people close to her killed, and she refused to take responsibility for that; only blaming (and screaming at) Reddington at every turn. It was pretty clear to me from the beginning from the emotional investment of Spader's character, that he was at least being honest about keeping those secrets to protect her.
Red was always honest about why he was being secretive and any well adjusted human being would've trusted him - especially after he consistently protected her and made her a priority. Elizabeth was a very disappointing character, I wish the writers spent more time developing the character even just for a moment.

But then iirc, it was only the season after that in which they got lazy with the character and decided to go with the cliché, and extremely redundant "She's gonna have a baaaaaby!!!" Trope..
They even had to give her that nasty haircut that middle class women get just to add emphasis to the fact that they're pregnant.
The show went from being a badass Russian spy show one season, and the next season it turned into the type of show that could only be enjoyed by teenage girls, and upper class women in their 40s.
It's like the writers just shat their brains out their arses on that season.. Literally every second scene was people talking about her being pregnant or about the baby..
Even in real life when someone ya know gets pregnant, it's like, a one mention thing. Not like, everyone that person knows just makes their entire life about it..
Unless everyone that person knows is jealous, post menopausal women, that sit around all day drinking, and perpetually forgetting the last thing they said.
@@sizlax You're so right! I was disappointed when the production became unnecessarily Elizabeth central, it became so exhausting because you so want to enjoy everyone else's story, development and more importantly the action.
Yet I really believe they could've done something really awesome about the Elizabeth character, it had so much potential!
Unfortunately, I think they had other ideas .. and now those ideas feel so jumbled up and kind of defeats the entire original plot that got me so excited to watch the show in the beginning. I hope they find they way back to telling good stories. Now that Elizabeth is gone, I hope they can use the current cast to make spectacular stories again.
@@theluschmaster Well, more than likely that happened due to the whole MeToo movement thing.. there's been so much more emphasis in the previous years on women getting pregnant on tv shows.
It's supposed to highlight their burden in performing their mainly optional natural bodily functions.
I certainly wasn't against female empowerment in the 90s and early 2k, but now it's been going on for so long, that they're running out of logical things to complain about, and it's breaking down to stuff like 'mansplaining', 'manspreading', or men's lack of compassion for them performing natural bodily functions, that some would view as a gift, and that men don't have the option to do.
Don't get me wrong, I ain't no misogynist, but I would love to be able to get through a full television series without hearing phrases like "I hate men, and what they bring into this world".
Cuz that's some literal hate speech right there, and that exact quote is from this show I watched a year ago called Clarice.
But, I digress. Point is, that's why so much of modern television is going downhill. These tv studios and streaming apps care more about political messages, and pushing sex/alcohol, than about creating decent watchable programming for a wider audience.
On the bright side, a lot of Asian programming is getting English dubs these days, and those are certainly worth watching.
And if you're into action and character development, then Money Heist is certainly worth a watch. There's also a Money Heist: Korea; which I don't totally get the point of, if I'm being honest. It's basically just a cut down copy of the original show, but done in a different building with Korean actors. It was still watchable, but I don't really get why they made it.

Ye, I also don't enjoy what is supposed to be entertainment starting to become more of a political movement now that forces you to stay on edge about everything. The world is becoming divided unnecessarily and it's incredibly annoying to have to 'pick sides' all the time when all you wanted was to relax for a bit - I feel like I put my mental health through enough at work and entertainment is supposed to take the edge off - not become more of a burden. But unfortunately, we have to endure such things because of the people whose money drives the messaging in the popular spaces.
The best thing we can really do is find other spaces to find relief in 💙✨

If they say within the story line. Liz did a DNA test on Red it would have come back as a female sample and a match as a mother or close female relative.

Hollywood has problems with their recurring female characters... Remember that it's a rare and rather new concept to keep a young actress beyond her "fresher" years. Not that long ago, any actress reaching the "elderly age" (in Hollywood standards) of 35 would generally be killed off and replaced by a 20-something model.
Writers have trouble making an action female character evolve from the "innocent heroine" into something matured and hardened. You can tell that this is what they tried to do with Liz, but repeatedly made the mistake of pulling her back into her original mold, which was no longer coherent with the story.
Just like Reddington was pushed from his original life into the life of the OP criminal mastermind, we should've seen Liz build her own network and grow as a person. This was something she tried to do, but always failed miserably at. They managed to make her "leave the system" (aka become morally grey), but they never managed to make her transform from "hero" to "anti-hero". Eventually, Liz's character simply became incoherent and repetitive. Also, it was definitely a mistake to make her continuously betray Reddington. This was a lesson she should've learned, after the whole debacle with Mr. Kaplan... but since the writers couldn't allow Liz to learn from anything, she kept repeating that mistake.
The core of the story being Liz trying to figure out who Reddington really is, I don't know where the show is going to head to.
I didn't like Liz at the beginning of the show, I didn't hate her also but our relationship went further downhill starting season 6 (if I remember correctly) when she was conniving against Red. I mean, yeah, Red's been hiding secrets from her but she should know it's for her benefit. How many times have Red saved her life? And she still doubt Red's motives?
I HATED her character. Glad she’s gone.
I mean that's the point of the story isn't? To know who Red really is? This series isn't about solving cases, unless there's a major plot twist that will happen in S9.

What I hate about her is that she keeps changing her stance on Red every fuckin time. For example, one moment she trusts him and when one small sus appears, she loses trust, but ends back trusting him. 8 fuckin season and she still can't give him the benefit of the doubt. She knows Red means well, but still acts as if he's an enemy.
I didn’t have strong feelings about the character or the actress. I think the producers did the ultimate manipulation of the audience by promising an explanation and then removing the the character who the explanation was promised to. Now we still don’t have answers and we spent 8 long years patiently waiting for it. There’s no answer that will be satisfying now because the character who needed the answer is gone. I think the creator may have left the show because of this manipulation. I had given the show 9 stars on IMDb but I would drastically reduce that number now.
I don't know, but regarding what I watched I remember some very clear explanations that were given... were you watching another show maybe? a full episode of everything being explained (except real Red identity, which frankly I don't care and it doesn't add anything) wasn't enough for you?

Stop man, her character was just the worst, the explanation of who Red is will probably still be told, altho I wish they wouldn’t, they did the right thing getting rid of her. Every season was the same thing with her, make up with someone, betray someone else. She was an entitled brat, I was so happy to see she “quit”, I truly believe that’s spin because of the other projects she’s doing with the network, and in reality they just wrote her out. Liz Keen is the worst. Red is the show, and his secret will need to be discovered by someone else, and that will keep things going. That and how Red reacts to everything. If the rumors are true, and they are gonna make Red Lizs real mother, that will make me vomit. No plastic surgeon in the universe could make a chick look like James Spader. No woman is that ugly.

I am with you partially, I hope Reds identity is never revealed, although it definitely kinda matters man, it’s been the driving force for the entire show, I just want them to play it like The Joker and never actually reveal it. That would be awesome, and leave the door open for a revival 10 yrs down the road where he’s still the king pin of crime, but Restler finally figured out who Red is and he’s closing in on taking him down. That would be amazing.

I feel she was essential to the story. A good character is not someone you'll always like and she portrays Keen well. She did very well portraying an open naive girl, to confused and broken widow, then at the end hardened, rigid, untrusting, but still able to love. In the last episodes she was clearly exhausted but never once gave up.
Most people hated her pursuit of answers about HER life even if it at times its against the plot of the story, but as a cumulative character Boone played Keen very well.
She played the role well..but the character itslef became too much...naivety dragged too much...and therefore too much annoying.
A good protagonist has to be likeable though. That’s the person you follow.

Fans were at the mercy of the scripting that got progressively worse after 7 seasons! They couldn't even write the Keen character off in an acceptable manner when they completely turned her character inside out in season 8! Season 9 proved their was no heart left in the show with how they wrote every remaining character with personal situations to garner empathy for them. They failed miserably!

By season 7 i had enough of Liz Keen. For someone who is playing a main role, they did such a poor job at keeping her character fresh and intriguing, there's few quite of actors in a re-occuring roles left a more powerful impact that Liz Keen like Glen Carter, Ryan Eggold and few others. I'm glad Liz is gone, it was emotionally unbearable!

I can’t believe these comments.. I love lizs character, she did very good. Ofc she did have her bad moments such as season 6 (I hated how she went against red) but she is a good actress. I also did hate the last season. I may not like her at times, but she is an amazing actress and this show will never be the same without her

It is too bad most writers and producers fail to recognize the fact that dragging a plot for as long as possible, due to the popularity or good ratings of the show pruduces the opposite reaction from the public. Viewers become bored and simply stop watching the show. So, good bye the ratings and good bye to what could have been a success from the beginning to the end.
I think she was great. Her character was pulled into two different sides. I was mad she dies and never finds out who he is. Was crying like a baby.
I agree with other fans, Elizabeth Keen become a terrible person, I stopped like her around season 4... I feel nothing when she died, (If she's really dead good!).

honestly, I never liked Liz character very much, I think she's kind of dumb sometimes, it could've been made better (but also there's no perfection) but at least I understand she's very passionate about searching the truth and that she's very impulsive...
it's very clear how she is since the beginning of the show, and that's very coherent regarding the writers.
I also understand that they tried to re-built her character to turn her into a project of a new Reddington, which makes sense since probably season 6, although it doesn't work quite effective in every episode... but that's not a problem, there's no show in the world that could brag of having every episode perfect in all its seasons

Elizabeth Keen on the other hand is a corrupt person who used her job position to get away with multiple crimes that would have made her spend her life in jail. She's no different from the criminals that she's meant to capture, yet, somehow, she's never addressed as a horrible person. She's just referred to as someone who just "wants to learn the truth." Not just that, but she had a placed her colleagues in positions in which they could have been hurt, killed, or have their careers destroyed, and she did that without remorse as she is always more important than anyone else.
I feel no sympathy for the death.

She blamed others, especially Reddingnton, for her actions. So did the team. No. She made every bad decision herself. Even with her half sister, she did nothing for her even when she was about to die. She left her sister in the trunk of her car! Liz was a terrible person.

The best episodes were the ones that Liz wasn't in. They should have left her dead after Agnes was born. She was a horrible mother and even worse ex agent. Always using her old position to commit crimes then act like a victim. Spare me. She was a murderer. At least Red owned his criminality. But the annoying brat acting like she was justified. How she killed Anne and the massacre unleashed to others in that town was unforgivable.

I don't know. I am still going back and forth in trying to figure out why I appreciated Elizabeth Keen less and less as the show progressed. Was it because of Megan Boone's acting? Was it because the writers didn't do justice to the character? I wouldn't mind if they took a year or two off to just refocus and figure out the actual direction they want the show to go in. I would hate to lose interest in the show. It's so different to a lot of what's out there.
Ive never been a fan of Liz. She basically got on my nerves. She caused more problems...i won't miss her...but i did not want her dead....just go with Agnes and lead a normal life

The new writers have done no justice to the show. The first episode was so boring that I changed the channel. The second episode had to do with pirates and a 1/2 ass task force and saw only 1/2 way. The third episode didn’t watch. Fourth episode fell asleep and that not the Blacklist the show ended with season 8, but continued with the same name which the should have named it: BLACKLIST A FART IN THE WIND.
The writers suck and sincerely I felt like placing an army boot Ann kicking Liz on the face. What funny she was calling herself in IG Liz Boone and I made a comment to drop the name Liz was dead and no more resurrection to stay dead.

Despite the lackluster scripting for Boone's character Liz, the other character's fed off of her significance to Red that made their character's work! Fast forward to season 9 & empathy for any of the other characters has disappeared! From that point on it was a slow death to Reds ultimate end in season 10!

Can someone please tell me because I must have missed it. Did they ever explain why Townsend's family was killed? The one thing I'm bracing for is Raymond killing Denbe. You see his torment in the last episode where he found out Elizabeth's prints were on the envelope. That scene was palpable! To be so betrayed by the one whom you love the most.... but hey it's Blacklist, so I see a possible twist... Dembe never gave her the letter? Maybe in a short window of time it made it to Liz before she was supposed to kill Raymond? Maybe Raymond will kill Dembe based on what he thinks is Dembe's betrayal, but find out Dembe was set up by an ultimate enemy of Redington's. Maybe the torment over mistakingly killing his truest friend,,a man Raymond owes his life to would be something to ultimately ruin Redington in every way. Hey.. it's just a crazy thought.

I loved Liz, I only wished she had remain on the dark side. Also half off the things Red did helped Liz but was mainly for himself. Plus there were multiple times Liz had finally decied to trust Red and the one of thee other men in her life and MR. KAP then dug up something or told her something that made her have a legit reason to distrust Red. Also if the shit happening involves me I would also want to know what is going and not be left in the dark and just be told to just do what someone else said to do. So Liz I wished you were still on the show.
This was a very good show for several seasons, before it went woke.

The writers had the opportunity to make Liz the most badass female character in series history but they fucked up really good. Messed up a good show, especially in her last 2 seasons. They dragged Resler in the same hole. Some writers can fuck up sometimes

I lost interest in Keene's character & storyline in season 7. I eventually fast-forwarded past her scenes.
The ending of the show was absolutely awful and heartbreaking. It dhould have had a much happier ending.
This character was just sad. The writers did a poor job. She wasn't interesting in the least. Her arc was pointless.
The story just fell apart way back after the 3rd season. A man came into her life that treated her with care and love and that just wasn't good enough. Sure the mystery was interesting in the beginning but it just became an eye roll.
Characters were tortured and put to death for what? So whiney Elizabeth could find answers that weren't her business. She showed deep down shed sacrifice everyone that cared about her( like she was princess Diana) which she was far from. Red was proven not to be a traitor was treated like dirt while Elizabeth just compromised the team and red on the daily.

The Keens were the absolute worst part of this show. Tom was extremely superficial and unnecessary. Elizabeth didn't have more than one face most of the times and was incapable of taking one right decision. But I don't blame them specifically. Sadly it's just the way way they wrote both characters.

I won’t miss Liz! Not at all. Her character became boring, annoying and tedious. That constant love/hate/love/ hate from her to Red, season after season, especially the last 2 ones, got to be too much. As per the actress ‘s acting skills, I think either she got used to her character, meaning, since it was always the same plot for her, the doubts, the love/hate for Red, her mistrust ,always wanting to know the truth, etc., she made no effort to show more skills, or perhaps, she has not very good acting skills. Her expressions were always the same. She looked bored.
For a couple episodes of season 8 Liz wasn’t in the episodes, and I honestly started to get uninterested. This is my fav show all time but its no Blacklist without Keen.

So i decided to research ahead a little.
I liked Keen and find it interesting that so many people don't like her. I personally stopped liking her character when she started going after Red.

Sad to find out she dies at the end of season 8.
Now I will finish season 8.

I liked Elizabeth, I actually like every character on the show. I think people are dumb af and just love to have things to complain about. Liz wanted answers to her life that a man she didn’t know at first came in and completely change. She pressed boundaries a lot because look who became her guardian. Duh, that’s the entire point of the show is the fact that her obsession to who she was and where she came from came from a place of love yet got people killed and hurt, just as Reddingtons obsession with keeping her safe did the exact same thing. That is the absolute point of the show. People are ignorant. If any of this is true and is why she had to die then that really irks me. I think she’s a great actress and did good in this show.
