That is adorable! I love how the goose is peaking out from the front cover and how you frayed your fabric! I've made a couple of journals using childrens' books and they are so bright and cheerful!
I love it, but I'm so conflicted lol. I love vintage children's books and they're so hard to find. I use the art for inspiration, and pass down to my children. its an adorable idea, and end results. If the books are wrecked (pages, art, ect) I suppose, this a unique, adorable, clever, idea to repurpose them.
Thank you Victoria! I completely understand - I love the vintage books too! ❤️
I have been collecting old books for a while now and they’ve just been sitting. So NOW I know what to do with them! Thank you so much for sharing this with us! Love it!! ❤️❤️
Awe, thank YOU friend! xoxo
Great pace to this video, awesome journal. Thank you so much
Regina Eid thank you Regina! 💖
Love this idea Kristin! I have so many of these from when I was a kid in storage. I need to go shopping in my stuff lol. 💖
Yes! I bet you have a ton waiting for you ;) xo
Oh I'm sure that's true!
that is fabulous!!!!
Thank you Denise!! xo
So cute! I’ve been collecting (hoarding 😆) these with the intention of making them into journals also. Love, love how yours turned out 💕
Thank you Michelle! And yessss, they're easy to hoard, right?! Plus, they're pretty sitting there waiting too ;) xo
Good to see you😊enjoyed and the music will try to make this wish me luck😊
Thank you Elaine! xoxo
This brings back such great nostalgic childhood goodness for me. Thank you!
Can I suggest one thing that you might like to try, if you haven't already, for sewing signatures into covers....get a needle that is 4.5"-5" long. It works wonders at making signature sewing simple, especially fatty signatures!
TFS all of this goodness with us!

Thank you so much! And always, thank you for the suggestion - a longer needle would have been SO much better - and my fingers would have been happier too! Thank you :) xo
Thanks for using my music in the video! The track's called *Black Lies*
Daniel Kadawatha hey Daniel! Thank YOU! I love your work!
Hmmm...maybe just one more thing to hoard? I might have to get rid of an atlas to make room. 😊
Ha, that totally cracked me up! Yessss, then there are the atlases - I have a nice hoard of those too, glad I'm not alone! :) xo
Hi, great tutorial thank u x
Thank you Julia! xo
Love this. I must try. What do you use to remove some of the white gesso? I wasn't able to read as most of the label was off the bottle. Many many thanks.
So friggin' cute, Kirstin! Love how you've continued the nursery vibe with the material. I'm interested to know why you gessoed the watercolour paper? I know the gesso gives tooth, but doesn't it affect the paper's reaction with watercolour?
Thank you so much Jacqui! I love that particular watercolor paper, but it tends to be an off white instead of the bright white I prefer. Gessoing it also allows me to use acrylics or anything else I decide to throw on it in the future ;) xo
Aha ... thanks Kristin ... now I know :-)

Bahaha I don’t know why but I read “DIY Art Journaling”. I was like wait... there are people who don’t do their own art journaling? I gotta hear about this.
Ha, I love that! It's tricky to title videos, I can see that easily happening! ;) xo
Have you made any videos using these books?
Hi! I haven't used it yet - hmmm - maybe I will next, thanks for the inspiration ;)
Is it just me that finds Liquitex gesso to be so grainy? Maybe it’s just my inexperience.
I've not experienced that? My absolute favorites (so far) are the Liquitex and Deco Arts :)
