Love these! Found you today whilst searching Gelli plate ideas. I’ve used old board books in the past. To get a rougher, more junk feeling to them I’d often peel the coated top layer of print off (usually saving pretty scraps for other projects). The exposed rough board surface allowed the layers of paper, ink or paint to adhere more easily and as a bonus, gave space within the book for it to close properly. I’ve also taken board books to pieces and used in a similar way as a base for a project. Am feeling all inspired again! I may have to head to the charity shop for more books… Thank you!
Oh Michelle, so many good ideas and tips! It never would've occurred to me to take off that top layer of the book or to take them apart. Thanks for sharing!
I sometimes cut off the spine and separate all the pages, hole punch them and ribbon the spine back together. Also, the tyvek that the fedex envelopes are made of make great glued spines.
Really like the collaged one. Bummed I got rid of all my son's board books a couple years ago. I'm going to the thrift store to find some bigger ones though. Thanks
I know what you mean about getting rid of stuff--but you can't keep everything, right?! The larger size board book should be great for this. I hope you give it a try.
@@pamhemmerling i just got some of the most BEAUTIFUL ART WORK in form of altered children's book from someone, so how lovely that your last video was on that subject.....will share that artist then get back to something random of mine soon...thanks Pam! B =)
I have done the same thing with many board books. I love how you are reusing materials. I hope you will finish one with your art work and show us soon!
Oh, Doreen I love that you have also done this as well. It's the first time I have used a board book (or any art journal this size) so I'm trying to adjust to the smaller size.
Wonderful idea to use board books! Always great to find a new way to re-use old things.
Thanks Holly! I'm always looking for ways to re-purpose used things. I'm a little nervous about working so small so we'll see how it goes.
We / us artists will all be scouring the charity shops for board books. Love this idea. Thanks Pam.❤👍👍👍
I hope you make one of these Andrea--if so, do let me know. And I must say there are an abundance of board books out there--good luck in your hunt!
Another place to get cheap board books is Dollar Tree
@@carolnacarato4448 That's a great tip Carol--thanks!
