I love how Dean still has an outgoing personality despite everything that happened. He knew exactly what it meant at 15 to lose someone dear yet you won't know from just hanging out with him unless he tells you.
He posted on his IG about that exact thing - that he did not think his story was that special. He is grateful to Rachel and ABC for letting him share it because it could help others who have experienced death of a love one. He said he cried off camera. And the beautiful pic of his young mom is touching.
I was moved to tears by Dean's story
Dean's story about how his family fell apart after his mum died reminded me of mine. Mine fell apart too when my mum passed away. We've never been the same. I understand it completely, Dean.

Is it bad that I can't understand how someone kind of good looking can be so nice and sweet (not just him in this vid but other vids)? Like him to not be obsessed with himself and arrogant. He just doesn't come off that way but it is TV w/ editing.

I actually think it was a good idea to face and articulate his feelings to the world, he can now move on. I thinks this was actually the beginning of a healing process. Thank you Rachel for giving a much needed listening ear. Dean is an amazing man and this Bachelorette experience with the other guys and Rachel am sure worked to mould him into an even better man.

mjbaybgurl not reall,trust me.He wrote a whole book of caption on his mom pic's a day after this episode.if he didn't like,he wouldn't have posted and wrote a whole novel about it.plus he said that he got to inspire others to open up.Plus,if he didn't want to share,he would have just said "my mom passed of cancer"and not add all those details.At the end of the day,I am like him,i dont talk about my sorrow coz i hate to burden people but when sb shows me that they care,i put it all on the table
Actually, I'm kind of glad she asked. It helped him to open up and share something he hasn't shared to most people. I think if he didn't want to go into it, he wouldn't have gone any further. But obviously he wanted to tell the whole story. It can be very cathartic to finally express your feelings about something that you don't really get to talk about much.
Plus, it would have been really weird (and kind of flippant if you ask me) if he mentioned that "everything went downhill after my mom died" and she just stared at him blankly and asked: "so...what's your favorite color?" LOL!

she did care she was crying in her ITM, she said she didn't want to cry in front of him so that he wouldn't cry more, and clearly they had a long discussion about it because you can see her talking to him, but we can't hear anything. He wouldn't have written an entire post dedicated to thanking her for this moment if she didn't care.
What's itm? Where is this post? You shouldn't think that everyone cries the same way. For example some ppl cry in movies and some don't. It just doesn't trigger their crying but they still care and have deep emotions. She actually looks like my high school guidance counselor's facial expressions when you talk about your problem haha

i think because as she said in her post and as he has since said, why he doesn't want to be the bachelor, that he still has a lot of learning to do about himself and personal growth to go through before he can be the bachelor. He just started dealing with these emotions from the past 10 YEARS with Rachel. I also believe this is why he made the statement that he will never truly be over Rachel, because she opened him up.
