Man I paid 80 for the purple one over Facebook marketplace and I don’t regret it. This has been the best handheld emu I’ve gotten to tinker with. I don’t need anything past PS1 so it was a perfect choice. Now I just need someone to make me a custom shell for it and I’m stylin!
For $40 you really can't do better if you specifically want a miniature vertical form factor handheld. It hits basically every mark and it's supported by an excellent custom OS that makes it significantly better to use. I picked one up on a whim even though I had zero reason to own one and I immediately liked it. It's just neat.
@@Nexii801 Great device, but the MMP being a bit smaller hits a sweet spot on size for me and it doesn't have chonky bezels around the screen. It's a sleeker device in my opinion, even if the RG35xx Plus might be technically superior.
My main three devices are Miyoo Mini Plus, RG405v and SteamDeck. That said I play on Miyoo Mini 90% of the time. It's so good I had to get two backup units in case it breaks. I love it so much. And I don't think there will be a device like that any day soon or maybe at all
For me it has the perfect balance of size and power. I don't want a bigger device, and I don't enjoy playing console/PC games on a handheld for several reasons. I only want to play GBA/SNES era games on it (plus romhacks) and for that - it's great. Plus I love the look and feel of it, as well as the customization options.
It is like how some people say "My phone is better than yours because of X and Y." When there are pros and cons and the reality is that people have different needs and what works for you might not work for someone else.
Hey Adam! It's been a long time!! There are a TON of devices out there. I have a general idea of what I want from a handheld now. Even still, I get overwhelmed by all of the options out there. If I were to do it again with what I know now it would start with budget: how much to you really want to spend on something you may use a few times or maybe even a few times a week? And then what games do you want to play? I care more about Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games than I do anything else so I can get away with something less expensive. But some people may want something more powerful that can play Game Cube or PS2. If you can figure those two things out, that can really help you narrow down what's right for you. And if you just want something that can just do everything, get a Steam Deck. 😜 I'm kind of kidding, but I'm not. The OLED Steam Deck and even the LCD model are awesome for just about everything including PC gaming and emulation. It all kinda boils down to preference.
So basically Vertical/Horizontal handhelds like the Miyoo Mini+, RG35XX, RG35XXH, (35XX and 40xx devices have the same thing the only difference is the screen on the 40XX is bigger) can play only up to ps1 games full speed and psp games are playable while stuff like(These are mostly less than 100 preferably like 65 bucks) The RG406V, RG405V, RG405M can play upto like PSP full speed and SOME gamecube (like 185USD) The Premium stuff like the AYN Odin 2, Retroid Pocket 4 pro can play upto gamecube and ps2, The RP4Pro can play upto Gamecube and PS2 Playable and most at a 2x resolution (200USD)while the AYN Odin 2 (300USD) can play gamecube and ps2 upscaled and some light switch games HONORABLE MENTION: RP2S The Retroid Pocket 2s can play upto PSP games FULL SPEED for 99 dollars plus shipping but the screen is small, for reviews on all of these devices go to Tech Dweeb's channel or Retro Game Corps
I’m literally in the exact same boat right now. I’m stressing out because I’m realizing I have to spend months now trying to figure out what I’m going to get and learning everything about this mini hobby 😂😂 I hate being a perfectionist
In my opinion, with Onion OS, this is still the top choice. Cheap, plays everything up to PS1 flawlessly. Most other handhelds under 150$ can't reliably play anything past PS1 anyway, so why not make your experience of the consoles up to PS1 as nice as possible.
the quality of miyoo mini is good, you barely see people having problems with it. unlike anbernic and powkiddy.. i got 3 device that died even i take care of them..
Oredered one today on official Ali store. Like yours. After over a month of reserching of all devices under 100 e, conclusion was allways the same. Lacks little bit of power for majority ps1,n64 games but screw it. I' m owner of both consoles, and my tablet with emulator and Dualsense works like charm. Prepared new sd card and instaled Onion... 40 years old and pretty excited. 😊
The mini plus has a better d pad and buttons. The screen smacks everything in that price range and a bit farther. It really is a solid device that doesn’t feel cheap. The only negatives I have found is 1) The device is small. If you have bigger hands..this handheld is gonna get uncomfortable after a hour 2) the fast foward isn’t good. It’s slow and when your grinding levels in Pokemon it can just feel slow And that’s really about it.
I bought my first device a year ago. I've bought, so, and sold loads since. I think the MM+, which I got a week ago, is amazing for having in your pocket
When it feels right, it flies right. And the Mini is perfect in the hand and does pretty good emulation for most of my favorites from gaming history - what's not to like? ...
@@Jk201 Yeah, I feel terrible for him and the people affected in that area. He posted an update, tree split his house in half and water leaked into his basement storage.
My miyoo mini plus is still my favorite but I have to say, the 35xx is built at least twice as good as the mini plus. What ever plastic Miyoo uses just feel so cheap and flimsy. The 35xx feels like a proper handheld Nintendo would make. Their plastic feels amazing. I really wish Miyoo used better materials. Also the screen is so dim compared to almost any other handheld. I have to play at full screen brightness on the mini plus.
I just got one of these for Christmas and I’m such a boomer I can’t figure out how to get download links for the rom packages it’s confusing for me … took me a solid 30 minutes to finally get the onion OS to install 😂
Miyoo themselves doesn't make a larger handheld. If you're looking for something similar, take a look at some of the recent Anbernic devices. Those would be the closest thing to something like a larger Miyoo Mini Plus.
Features and more power are well and good, but in a gameboy form factor, realistically you can't play anything beyond PS1 well anyways. The user experience matters the most and I am not convinced that newer handhelds offer a better one than the MM(+).
@@FunkyHQYTThe miyoo is enough for me if you don't want higher consoles. In my case, I picked the rp3 plus for streaming, psp, some ps2, wii and gamecube. The 35XX+ is superior in some ways but also inferior in two key ways. The buttons are still much better on the MMs. And muOS/knulli still aren't as good as OnionOS.
@@vexorian buttons are subjective. I prefer the 35xx+ (I have both.) I haven't booted up my MM+ in a while, but I can't think of anything OnionOS could do that MuOS couldn't. (And typically do better/faster)
