He probably heard from CCP that the country of Africa (WAKANDA) is full of dirty people living in the trees. A place where dangerous animals roam all over. And for sure the origin of every disease. Amazing how uneducated some Chinese are about the world and life in general. Very sad.

Also, they 100% believe the narrative of the Western media, which the people in the West are now starting to lose their trust in, as a result, the South Koreans hate China. In 2018, there were around 70k South Korean international students studying in Chinese universities. Now, you'll barely find 1 or 2 Korean students. As a European I would like to say: Too many people are focussing on the differences between us all. If we focus on the similarities, the world would be much happier! We are much more similar than different.
Chinese having negative sentiments towards Japan based on the war atrocities is kinda legit and fair. I wish Japanese had a bit of backbone and remember a fraction of such atrocities happened to them from Americans. Looking at you Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
As a Korean college student majoring in Mandarine chinese, I love chinese culture and food. Whenever I traveled to China, almost all of them welcomed me and loved every single thing of my country like Kpop and Kdrama and I was so thankful about that. In Korea, Chinese cuisine is really popular and some food like malatang and tanghulu are the huge trend! I hope the 友好关系 between the two nation would last forever! 🇰🇷❤🇨🇳
Interestingly,Chinese hatred of Japan is negatively correlated with economic development. If the interview had been conducted in Shanghai, the result would have been completely different ,but in reality it took place in Guangxi, a fairly poor province. In this case, I am not surprised at all by the result.
I laughed out loud when that one guy said that even though all Europeans don't speak English, they all can understand it. 🤣😂 By that reasoning, all Asians can understand Chinese even though they don't speak it. 😂
But there is a semblance of truth because almost half the population in Europe do understand n speak English. especially anyone that works in hospitality business. English is a lingua franca so it’s not wrong for it to be used a common tongue. That French dude was just being a dickhead lol
Its somewhat true though, due to english being a universal language, alot of europeans are able to at least understand english, if not speak it outright. The same cannot be said of the chinese language in east/SE Asia.
Why are you mentioning looks? I didn't think he said that because of looks. All Asians don't look Chinese. Indians are Asians too. However, since English is the international language, that should mean that everyone can understand it. We know that's not the case. I was merely pointing out the error of his reasoning.
The people in these interviews are so interesting. Many of them have good answers for where they want to go and their reasoning makes sense, but then you get to where they don't want to go, and so many are conspiracy theories.
I've visited different regions, cities and towns of France along the years, and I think the country as a whole is much better than Paris. The thing is, most foreigners only visit the capital and think that's all there is to see.
I have a LOT to say about some of these interviewees' comments, but will wait til later when I have time to watch this again. For now, I'm just going to say that as someone who traveled to about 30 countries when I was young and adventurous, and also lived in Taipei for a few years, I was alternately impressed and appalled by some of these interview answers. 😳🤦 But no matter how many stereotypes, untruths, or historical grudges some of these people spewed, Eileen manages to stay objective and non-judgmental. Brilliant as always! 👏👏
What did they say that was appalling? Everyone has different experiences and opinions and are entitled to them. The historical context that China has been through at the hands of the Japanese cannot be denied, even Japanese historians have admitted that Japan committed war crimes and had never fully apologised for them.
@@samongandroid as a Chinese myself, a LOT of the statements were really ultranationalistic and ignorant. It's not the kind of opinion you would hear from an educated Chinese person in a big city. The most appaling example in this video was that young couple who said they will hate even the young japanese people today despite it being unfair.
@@vincentxiao1836 It's understandable though that they would feel that way. The onus is on the Japanese to put pressure on their government to do something about its war crimes. Japan is a democracy that gives people the power to run their own country right? So why aren't the people doing anything about it? Because they've been brainwashed by their government and education system. They've done nothing to stop the government visits to worship war criminals. Japan does it to aggravate China, and it knows it pisses everybody off. But China is patient and people's lives are improving. Educated people don't waste time arguing with anti-Chinese trolls, they just try to get better, better economy, better cars, better technologies. China is not anti-Japan in the sense that it will sanction a major company like the way the US sanctioned Huawei, people drive Japanese cars, eat Japanese food etc. So I don't think there is a strong ultranationalistic movement to eliminate Japanese influences in China.
I can understand why the girl would not want to travel to south east asia. while our countries have their own perks, security may not be one of our best offerings. however, it should be noted that in recent years, most crimes committed against chinese citizens here in the philippines have been enacted by their fellow chinese.
More traveling abroad broadens the view on cultures and people. Looking forward to visiting China and Japan next year, both with great people and good food! Nice interviews 😊
Please note that this interview was conducted in a small town! If you were to ask the same questions in a larger city where people are better educated and know more about the world, you would NOT have such bigoted answers. Most of us educated Chinese people would not hold such a stupid hatred towards young japanese people, even if we hate their older generation and their government! We just want peace and understanding between people of different countries

@@vincentxiao1836 I feel saying "bigotry" is a bit harsh. Using India as an example, many of them said it is not a place that they would want to visit because they think it's unsafe, unclean and an overall unpleasant place. You will find a lot more lies, fake statistics, scams, and frauds in China, than in Japan. It's not even close.
that first person talking abt the nuclear contamination in japan is a classic example of people falling for misinformation, propaganda, and conspiracy theories
China is full of conspiracies. In 2017-2019 many people in Europe believed the uighur génocide conspiracy theory or that there was a massacre in a student protest in China's capital in the 1980s of which no solid evidence ever existed.
I was worried we were about to get a slating, but we didn't even get that lol. I think being out of the EU visa system keeps us off the radar for places to visit
Yeah that's why it's such a pain talking to Chinese people. I've lived there for 5 years and these people are not the minority. Theirviews can be clouded in ignorance, bias and hatred.
I believe this is the same for almost every country, esp those who are not well travelled. I bet if you ask anyone which country people who least want to visit, a lot will say China because of all the propaganda in the US, Japan and european /western media and their own bias, hatred.
Have not experienced the pain of others, how dare to easily say forgiveness for others? The Japanese are still enshrine the war criminals who invaded China in temples, and they are trying to glorify the invasion without apologizing. The more this, the Chinese will only hate more, the old Chinese saying, ten generations of hatred can also be reported.😊
25000 Chinese nationals were caught trying to illegally enter the US from the southern border in 2024. I’d be curious why that number keeps growing exponentially.
@ It is indeed. It’s a number that is increasing dramatically month to month. The fact that there are Chinese citizens seeking to enter the US illegally to live or seek asylum is great indicator of the state of the Chinese homeland. US citizens, as a comparison, do not seek to move to other nations illegally.
@smcarpen - Because it is fake news created by the anti-China Falan Gung Group. They have actors and extras who pose as illegal Chinese trying to enter the US to give China a bad name. This group has a Hollywood-like studio in NY, fully equipped for shooting anti-China propaganda. They are financially supported by the US and Taiwan anti-China agencies and also the Secessionists Group of Hong Kong led by Jimmy Lai.
As I spend 3,5 weeks in china I would say the answer is: every country. For a lot of common chinese people there's no world outside of china and even if they believe there's something out there, its still of very less interest. Very similar to US guys.
Super interesting! The guy who ranted about France and S.Korea was really funny. It's the first time I hear anyone say Italy has problems with feces. :DDD I am Italian and I have no idea what he's talking about nor where he might have been to remember feces above the artistic wonders he might have seen. He's generalising his opinion based on single incidents that affected him. He needs to return to all those places to open his horizons more. Very interesting interview!

I was one of the speakers, and I'm sorry that there are some points that I can't fully say in a video interview due to irresistible factors. Here's my full view. First of all, I admit that our country is not at all tolerant and open, even after thousands of years it still lives in hatred and feudalism. Hatred is being staged against innocent people. The people inside are ignorant and uninformed. The so-called liberation of this country will not come in another 100 years. Secondly, I do not accept the Chinese dialectical thought in it, which I can not listen to. First, I magnify the mistakes of others, and then, just as I forgive the SINS of others, I say a few words, "They also have good sides." There was no respect, just aggression. Nuclear contaminated water is dangerous, but isn't COVID-19 dangerous? In view of globalization, please be fair to all countries! Too many people are only willing to say the part they like to talk about. And the irony is that the interviewer does not even know what is happening in the world every day, and knows only a handful of countries and deeds, like a blind man who does not admit that he is a frog in the bottom of a well. The last country I want to go to is actually China. It has nothing to do with whether I love my country or not, I just have new values and feelings after learning about the world. This is my own judgment and opinion. Incompetent people are most likely to have no hatred, this kind of hatred without logic makes people feel poor and helpless. Such people are cold and unloving. The trend of The Times is rolling forward, and the world is being updated every day. Everything will pass, people are constantly reflecting on changes, but this group of people still do not want to look forward, never want to update their views. As early as the 17th and 18th centuries, the Enlightenment advocated not relying on monarchs and states to figure out for themselves when that enlightenment would come.
Thank you Eileen and Mandarin Corner for bringing this kind of real life cultural and language content to us. It's truly unique. As an American I traveled to China 3 times, between 2017/2019. Each trip was amazing and the experiences I had and the people I met will never be forgotten. Had I not traveled extensively within China, I would have a completely different impression of the country and its people. I live in a city in California of about 300k people and many of my neighbors are Chinese. If you interviewed them, I feel most would say about America what I said about China. Traveling 10,000 miles is like reading 1,000 books.

Very naive of many Chinese from China is that English is not an international language nor is use widely in a lot of country, like Europe. So in France try to learn a bit of French or in Russian learn some Russian. I make a practice to learn the foreign language of the country I am going to visit
English is by default the lingua franca of the world in general. No other language comes close. Most Chinese / East Asian schools teach it. Obviously a lot of countries don’t really use it, but that’s where the perception comes from.
Nonsense. Even if one try to learn some basic language words just to get by when visiting a country. It will not be enough to communicate with a person on how to solve a problem. However this is not the main problem. He is complaining about the arrogance of the staff who ignored him until he asked him the 3rd time. I too faced this problem when I was in Gare Nord train station in Paris when I asked a staff (Black French) with my rudimentary French proficiency and he ignored me.
No, in France we don't speak English at all lol. It's not an international language even though they are our neighbors, we have the worst level of English in the world. It only concerns a minority who speak it for work. I master it because I am of foreign origin born in France, but no French person will answer you in a sentence in English, a few words for those who answer if you are lucky.
@@SNK-e7n Correct, what I am trying to say is Engish is not an international language per se, nor is recognized as such. You can see many naive Chinese from Mainland saying that so and so don't even speak English, thinking all foreigners ought to know or speak English. Some Chinese from Mainland even refuse to learn the foreign person's own language thinking knowing English is enough. Try speaking English to a French, Russian, Kazak or Krygic and see whether they would reply to you. I am a Chinese but not from the Mainland. My only advise to the Chinese from Mainland is: try to be a bit open, and learn a few words at least of the foreign language of the country you are visiting. Remember that you are from a superpower country and not from the isolationsit US.

The government and the imperial japanese navy was cooperating well with Sun Yat Sen, providing even arms support during the 1920s until the manchuria situation. The east asia war was an action that the imperial japanese army was solely responsible for.
As a foreigner, I expected to see comments of triggered foreigners rushing to judge the interviewed people, ironically showing themselves no "better". As an interviewer, you did great to stay actively neutral, to let people talk whatever comes to their mind or to share the opinions they already built. People forget that the original question meant to logically lead to negative comments about those places, not to say nice stuff. It's refreshing to see uncensored opinions, no copy-paste morality nor forced political correctness. That's not just for Chinese learning but also so rare to see such sincere and open interviews. Well done.
Sorry for all the hatred toward japan as CCP is mandatorily teaching them in highschool and there are 100+ movies that portray japan as a villain. I am staying in inida as refudgee since i was 6 years old and i havent seen my parent for last 20 years. There are thousands of other tibetan kids who have same stories like me yet we were not taught to grow hatred toward chinese people rather we were taught it because of CCP and those politicians.
@@Denji.99 Let's be fair, Japan wasn't such a scary and horrible country back then either. Humans are just scary and horrible beings in general, the N*zis and J*panese weren't outliers. This was a pretty honest and wild interview. I like the answers. I think that there is a degree of ignorance and/or perception when it comes to travel... but this affects people choosing to go AND not to go. For example, France might be one of the most popular destinations, and it is influenced by the romantic and artistic image of the city. In reality, everyone that I know that has traveled there has told me they were surprised by how dirty, loud, and and how many migrant communities there were everywhere. China is another example -- because of propaganda from America, it seems many fear that they would be seized by police in China and all infrastructure is tofu dreg. And then recently, more and more influencers are showing the spectacular parts of China, -- showcasing amazing places like that stairway in the mountain and the city of Chongqing.

Europe is not that desirable like before. But i think Japan is must visit , regardless your personal view, very tourist friendly and a lot to do.
I agree and/but another dimension is dealing with intergenerational trauma. After genocide societies need to heal. "Truth and reconciliation" processes can help. People need to tell the stories and the perpetrators or their descendants need to listen. It's a painful process that took place in S. Africa, and later in Canada. If Japan would ever sponsor that kind of process maybe it would lead to some healing. But that's unlikely I guess. ❤
Well it's easy for you to say when they're not your people or ancestors. The Japanese not only just killed. Chinese were inhumanely tortured and the Japanese did all kinds of human experiments on them and alot of women were raped by the Japanese soldiers.
Frankly speaking, the Chinese government do not care about any comment made from a nobody like you. So please don't hype up your self importance. Thank you.
The guy talking about European countries is insufferable. I am french so of course I am hurt by all the cliché he’s got about my country… but jeez you went to all those countries in Europe and still find things to complain about all of them, you might also question your own bias and arrogance… I have lived in China for one year, there I have met all kinds of chinese people, most of them were very friendly, open minded, and curious but of course I also met a few people like this guy.. don’t generalize from your single unfortunate experience, two weeks in a country is not enough to know about its people. Not everybody speak good english, in France or in China, probably that was the case of the man working in the hostel… when you travel abroad without knowing the languages of the countries you are going to visit, you have to accept that there will be difficulties with communication and that you will have to be patient and adapt.

He said so bcs English is an international language.🤦♂️Not bcs everyone looks "english".
Why are you mentioning looks? I didn't think he said that because of looks. All Asians don't look Chinese. Indians are Asians too.
However, since English is the international language, that should mean that everyone can understand it. We know that's not the case. I was merely pointing out the error of his reasoning.

DUDE

Don't be offended by these Chinese. They don't represent the entire population. You can see the amount of Chinese people visiting Japan in large numbers. It's not like Japan would collapse with Chinese people not visiting Japan. There are Australians, Europeans, Koreans, Indians, Americans visiting Japan and enjoying Japanese culture. Japanese are loved by the world whereas Chinese are hated remember that!
@@edouardbeauregard7090 Wtf is wrong with you and your racist phrase in the end ?
regarding the history beef between the two countries, I understand the chinese hatred toward japanese. However, it’s the matter of the japanese government and their ancestors not the current japanese people.
23:23 These girls have such music-worthy voices; wouldn’t surprise me if they were singers.
The interviewer is really smart for real, and put a lot efforts to understand any perspective to dig deeper their reasoning 💯
Great interview, do part 2
4:37 "They've never won a war" 😂 you couldn't be more wrong buddy.
I think he talked about WW@ specifically :))
@@TanNguyen-iv5yh WW2 was won by Soviet Union and China mainly.
@@partizanSquadreally? What was the turning point for the Chinese in their fight against the Japanese? Which make battles did they win to drive the Japanese out of china and the other occupied countries in Asia?
@@partizanSquad True about the Soviets against the Germans but not China against Japan, the US won that war.
@@iandespalo8757 still untrue, overwhelming majority of Japanese soldiers were killed in China, by Chinese soldiers. The US came very late and actually killed more japanese civilians than japanese soldiers.
16:27 look who's telling 😂

This interview is so funny 😂
She says all this without knowing what Mao did to his own people with the help of his people… lack of accurate history is crazy. Maybe she also thinks Germany shouldn’t be forgiving for their past, and Italy was linked to Nazi regime… but that didn’t directly affect China, so it doesn’t matter to her.
who cares?
Nothing to do with Mao , BOZO. Don't bring politics here. They are giving their honest opinion about which country they most likely to visit and which country they least likely to visit.
these interviews are quiet entertaining , so much variation in opinion. Sad to see nobody wants to visit Australia. i been to most of the country desired and undesired mentions in video. i think Sydney is most Asian + western city same time in the world and must visit in new year time. the guy bashing Europe is true , in general.
Where are you interviewing
I understand the guy that said France. 😅
Chinese are living a bubble
Why do the Chinese girls love South Korea and Korean culture while Chinese men dislike South Korean men?
It’s amazing how people have issues with past treatment of their countrymen, even if they didn’t experience it. Grievances are not good to hold on to.
Well it's easy for you to say when they're not your people or ancestors. The Japanese not only just killed. Chinese were inhumanely tortured and the Japanese did all kinds of human experiments on them and alot of women were raped by the Japanese soldiers.
CENSORSHIP!!! CCP is deleting my comments!!
lol
Frankly speaking, the Chinese government do not care about any comment made from a nobody like you. So please don't hype up your self importance. Thank you.
The guy around 18:00 is great lol, but surprising comments from some of them.
The camera looks so clear🤩
The guy talking about European countries is insufferable. I am french so of course I am hurt by all the cliché he’s got about my country… but jeez you went to all those countries in Europe and still find things to complain about all of them, you might also question your own bias and arrogance… I have lived in China for one year, there I have met all kinds of chinese people, most of them were very friendly, open minded, and curious but of course I also met a few people like this guy.. don’t generalize from your single unfortunate experience, two weeks in a country is not enough to know about its people. Not everybody speak good english, in France or in China, probably that was the case of the man working in the hostel… when you travel abroad without knowing the languages of the countries you are going to visit, you have to accept that there will be difficulties with communication and that you will have to be patient and adapt.
you cannot deny the French are arrogant and obnoxiously snooty, can you?
I think they don't even have basic knowledge about other countries...when they having interview, sometimes the sentence doesn't make sense and lack of logic... Did they even graduated from High School I doubt....😅
Agree with the answer South Korea
amazing
