    I love the sound of the Grey Seer's bell tolling away as he rides around. I wonder if it would have been viable to include some sneaky rats to go try and get a back cap on objective 1 or at least serve as a distraction.

    • @dome2919
      @dome2919 Год назад

      It would've been fun to watch for sure! I reckon that the skaven player worried that the WE player might pull the remaining waywatchers to come handle the situation though (hard to buffer within terrain to make use of or a handy mass of bodies).

  • @andrewhannigan931

    This is one of the few matchups where I unironically like stormvermin (sword and board) they deal with wardancers, can't be shot easily and most people don't realise they're stormvermin. They just assume they're clanrats so you can get some good fights pretty easily.

    What a wild comeback. I feel like Skaven needed some mass or more reactive positioning on their natural to prevent WE light cav from isolating units and getting good trades where they had no right to.

    • @dome2919
      @dome2919 Год назад +1

      It was so weird right!? There were times when WE light cav dove into situations that should've ended them and came back out better than expected. I kept expecting the punish to come!
      WE didn't used to have light cav at all, so seeing them employed like that was pretty shocking!

    • @dome2919
      @dome2919 Год назад

      @Forrest Mcgee Oh, hey. I forgot that this comment existed. I was more meaning that it was surprising to see WE using effective light cav than that it is surprising to see light cav get value. They're definitely super helpful in dom! (points vaguely at Slaanesh and DE)

    10:13 I agree here for sure. The quintessential complaint about Wood Elves is that their kite-centric style of play is annoying to play against but everything that they can field to play another way is prohibitively expensive. I'm sure WE players would love to field sisters of thorn builds which buff infantry lines enough to buffer for heavy hitting archers that don't need to draw the enemy across the whole map, but it's hard to do because those pieces are hard to afford together.
    A few reasonable cost reductions could open up all kinds of new styles of play! Imagine huge flank overloads as Zoats + Wild riders hammer a side of the enemy army, relying on some treekin (and perhaps the lord) to try and hold the weak-flank together! There's a lot that we haven't seen from the faction (one of a few that hasn't gotten too many spiffy updates like GS or LM) and I hope that a little love comes their way to open up those scenes to cool new vids!

    I think the Hawk-Eyes of Drakira (the RoR Waywatchers) are worth bringing in this match-up. Like you say in the video, if Skavens bring weapon teams, Waywatchers can pick them off quickly and efficiently, but they're not great against chaff, as we could see in this battle. On the other hand, the RoR has a contact effect on missile fire reducing leadership by 16, so a single volley on an already wounded Clanrats unit will rout them instantly.
    By switching targets for each volley, Wood Elves could get mass routs across the whole frontline, accruing a ton of value without having to sacrifice their elite missile troops. On top of that, the RoR is much more accurate than basic Waywatchers, so they're great for lord-sniping.

  • @basab1063
    @basab1063 Год назад +9

    Dont get why not using the dwellers on catapult instead of stupid rats
    Welves can clean chaff pretty easily and you have the choixe between targetting garbage units who can dodge the spell very quickly or high damage pieces of artillery which will rekt all your high quality units.
    The kights died in 2 minutes cause of the catapults and without their pressure, the archers could have probably killed or at least route the skaven general
    Feel like a big misplay by the big ears and the start would have been much easier :(

    • @dome2919
      @dome2919 Год назад +1

      I have to say that I found that weird. WE have *always* struggled against artillery, whether it's mortars or catapults. I think that the skaven player made a couple of oversights and that the WE player capitalized very well, but in the beginning I didn't quite understand the WE strategy.

    • @nerexa5246
      @nerexa5246 Год назад

      @@dome2919 I have lost quite some game by realizing spell sniping those plague claws doesn't work reliably at all. And puts your lord in danger and wastes mana if it fails. Build was mainly focused on going against a globadier/jezzail-style rat build, as that is the most scary one. So not perfectly suited for the vermintide.

    • @dome2919
      @dome2919 Год назад

      @@nerexa5246 Ah! Makes sense! Yeah if they went with those types of pieces your untargetable archers and holding pieces would've destroyed globes (cav can do good work against jezzails).
      WE strats against artillery have always been sketch. There was a school of though in WH1 about using waystalker's arrow of kurnous to snipe pieces (it didn't work reliably, and was very slow).
      It's tough, but I genuinely respect WE content wherever it comes from! Good game!

      Since you can resummon infantry units if you're going for a massive rush like this it's best to hedge with at least a couple mid/high tier options. Those mostly suck for Skaven unfortunately but for the gameplan Stormvermin are the least bad.
