lost kingdom is one of the most unique levels in recent Mario games. the lighting and the brilliant colors and the dark shadows make for one of the most beautiful levels in all of odyssey and painted swamp is the most memorable levels in all the new games.

One moment for me is the Tower levels at the end of Donkey Kong '94. You've been able to see the tower looming in the distance for the last couple of worlds leading up to it, and once you arrive the entire mood of the game changes with some seriously kicking music tracks and a foreboding climb that culminates in one of the best final boss fights in any Game Boy game.

Man, some levels from my childhood are so burned into my brain that they feel like homes away from home. Zora Hall (hell, most areas from Majora's Mask), Subrosia Village from Oracle of Seasons, Lavalava Island from Paper Mario, Jinjo Village and Jolly Roger's Lagoon from Banjo-Tooie, Ecruteak City from Pokemon Gold, Twilight Town from Kingdom Hearts...yeah, good times. Way too much time spent imagining what it would be like to live in some of those places rather than actually accomplishing any sort of gameplay objective haha.

Lake Lapcat. The Sand Kingdom. Princess Peach’s Castle in SM64 (and…). Tears’ Gerudo Town bunker. And many, many more. Amazing, memorable, joy-inspiring level design is why I find myself coming back to Nintendo games over and over again. That’s not to say there aren’t plenty outside of Nintendo. But it is certainly an art that they have focused on and perfected (or at least they continually try to). Their unique and sustained effort has not gone unnoticed. It’s why so many of us love these games, and why we will continue to love them for the rest of our lives.

I would also include Celeste. The level after she loses her mind, falls down the mountain and fights her bad self is extremely thought out. There are also other levels in this game which are really good.

What a great video. For Bioshock 1, have you noticed the "Would you kindly" on the package before the plane goes down? And it's cool that it takes after the works of Ayn Rand(a FPS that invites thought? Not bad. Btw, the 3rd game Infinite is one of my favorites, I streamed it in 4K60 here on RUclips-if that's an indicator-anyway I digress)and New Super Mario U, I actually was happy that we got a ACTUAL 2D Mario game! And to learn people were complaining about that? I sure wasn't, I was, "holy peaches, it's a Mario game at launch, and a 2D one at that!! Don't mind if I do!!" But for Mario Odyssey, meh. I'm actually gonna sell it on eBay. Didn't do it for me. Beat it once, and never played it again. Moving on to Zelda BotW, ah yes Zoras Domain. I recall it was a pain in the arse to get there, but yeah cool place to view and stuff, and hey Donkey Kong Country yay! Always good to see you feature older games! I so enjoy the broadcast cinema style you use. I really enjoy RUclips channels that do more edited stuff like you do. I really have and felt no need to livestream, I've always been more edited scripted stuff, and I'm happy that RUclips has given me a delivery platform to do so. Oh yeah for the greenscreen stuff I had mentioned the other day.....
    😉
Have a wonderful day or night depending Neander. Keep up the most wonderful videos. Bye for now.

Marcus, it's always great to see that I have a comment from you. Bioshock Infinite is one of those games that I've started countless times, but can never seem to play all the way through. I know it good, I just need to stick with it.
I was also glad to get a new 2D Mario game as well for the Wii U. It's ulitmatly the reason I bought my Wii U. It still baffles me that people complain about the "New" Super Mario games. I think they're super fun!
I'm thought Mario Odyssey was decent. I've never played past the first few levels of Mario 64, so I don't have the 3D Mario nostalgia most people have. Though i did beat Mario Odyssey and liked it.
Breath of the Wild is one of my all time favorite games. I keep going back and fourth with it and Link's Awakening as my favorite Zelda game. The truth is, they're both really great games. I could get lost doing just exploring in Breath of the Wild and have an absolute great time. I'm on my fourth playthrough of it right now. I had to restart it to get the footage of Zora's Domain for this video. Thanks to that, I'm hooked again.
The original Donkey Kong Country is my all time favorite game. There is no other game yet made that brings me greater joy to play. I think I reference it in just about every video I make. It's just so good!
Thanks for always coming back to watch my videos and leaving these great comments. It was good to see you in the chat last Thursday as well. I watch on Twitch and on RUclips just to interact with you and Toasterdog during the podcast. I hope everything is going well for you!
