Trying to Fix: Gainward GTX 580 (Display Issues)

    That artifacting is usually a bad Ram module on the GPU, sometimes it's the result of this GPU overheating and pulling slightly away from the solder joints as well. You can try the heat gun method and use a bit of flux that will flow under the gpu and ram modules sort of cleaning the solder as well though not exactly. Regardless it usually works and the card is usable again just heat the card up for a few minutes using the heat gun and focus mainly on the gpu die and ram areas though a few passes across the entire board is my normal method as well. If it doesn't fix it than you have bad Ram chip(s) usually only 1 and they must be replaced, (not hard to do but scary the first couple of times) or some other serious fault.

    Reminds me of the time I had to fix my Xbox 360, had to put new thermal paste on the GPU. Only lasted for a few months…

      Ive never taken an XB360 apart. Your very brave! Ive taken apart my PS4 and PS4pro, both benefitted greatly from a good quality thermal past and memory pad change. This GPU had a fault on the component level i think, nice collectors item though.

      The oven fix has been tried on this before i bought it. I have a solution to fix coming soon...
